Lupo Cup Discussion Thread

I've decided to run the Lupo Cup Series over the CR-Z cup after a fair amount of advice from fellow GTP'ers 👍 I have GCSE exams coming up at the start of November, so don't expect to see it start until late November at the very earliest. And this isn't a sign up thread, it's just a place to ask me any questions about the series, or discuss it until I make a proper thread. Cheers

Volkswagen Lupo GTI Cup Car (J) '03
Limited to 138bhp
1010kg
Racing Hard Tires only (....and Rain/Intermediates )
All other tuning unrestricted

So get searching your UCD if you don't have one yet! I was going to run the other cup car, but it's better to have a completely level playing field as the 00' car is a lot slower even with equal specs.

I might be interested if the time difference worked out... I like the VW Lupo or Nissan mm-R cup cars, not a fan of the CR-Z.

Okay, thanks for the help. Now if I am going to run Lupo's over the CR-Z I need to decide whether to use the 00' or the 03' TDI.

EDIT: I've already done some testing with the Honda, if I were to use them the races would pretty much all be 40 miles (about half an hour). For the Lupo, the races would probably be shorter due to less power.

Or I may even run the old BTCC format, a short sprint with reduced points and then a longer feature race with full points and a mandatory pitstop.

Well I'm going to just leave the poll for a few weeks, and see what everybody prefers. I'm easy either way But I have decided on a Race Format.

Qualifying: 15 minutes
Sprint Race: 4 laps, half points
Feature Race: 30 miles, full points, one mandatory pit stop in 3 lap window

Still working on a calendar

How do all the cup cars in game compare to each other. There are micra, lupo, beetle and I think more.
Just wondering if they are similar and how many they were.

I think there is/there was already a Spec CR-Z Cup but I don't think it's run anymore and I think it was without the Touring Cars.

I had one open for a race or two, until people stopped showing up so I ditched it. The specs I had for the CR-Z made it a really fun car to drive.

Yeah you got them all, I think there's already a Micra cup and I'm not too interested in the Beetle, so Lupo it is

I was thinking about a series using multiple cup cars, but I think it's gonna be one car. It creates a level playing field so it's all down to talent (and a bit of clever tuning) 👍

EDIT: And to Turbo, that's exactly why I was unsure what to run. The CR-Z is great fun to drive.

Yep, 11 people signed up and only 3-4 decided to show up to Race #2, so I canceled it.

I'm working on a new series idea for a December reveal though hopefully.
