全日本GT選手権 '99
Custom Race series

These are some Scapes and Race Photos from my first 'Custom Races' project, a recreation of the entire GT500 grid from the 1999 JGTC season.

The first race of the 1999 JGTC season was at Suzuka and the entire race was held in heavy rain. I've created a short and a full version of the race in Custom Races, complete with driver's names and the starting grid in the exact order of the original race. I've also created another version of the race that includes 10 GT500s and 10 GT300s. There were 19 GT500 cars in 1999, and so far I have 17 cars with accurate liveries, with two more to add (one more Nissan Skyline GT-R and the McLaren F1 GTR Race Car). Of all the cars on the grid, only one team fielded a car with the same livery, the Toyota Supra Castrol Team TOM's #36 and #37 cars.

In order to create this accurate grid, one needs to buy the following:

7 Toyota Supra GT500 '97s
5 Nissan Skyline GT-R GT500 '99s
4 Honda NSX GT500 '08s
1 Lamborghini Diablo
1 Dodge Viper GT-S
1 McLaren F1 GTR Race Car

Of the three classic Japanese GT500 models - the Supra, the Skyline and the NSX - only the NSX can be bought at any time (from Brand Central). The Supra, Skyline and McLaren F1 GTR are only available sporadically via the Legendary Car Dealership, and the Diablo can only be purchased when it appears in the Used Car dealership. The total cost of all 19 cars is almost exactly 40,000,000 Cr., and equipping all cars with Inters and Wet tyres adds another 1 million Cr.

You, Sir, win a “The Most Clever Use of a Car” award as well. Good stuff.
Thanks, though I can't take credit for it really - I merely searched for a style for the car and found that SPRIGGAN had made the 499P livery for it. The fact that I wanted to start creating the Le Mans 2023 grid for a Custom Race is a major coincidence though.

I have the Porsche livery on mine and it looks a picture too! Nice job on the pics!

A new gallery for cars and liveries from this year's Spa 24 hour race.
This was my first trip to Spa and I loved it - an account of my trip can be found here.
I'll add to this gallery as time goes on, but to start with, here's the winning car from this year's race:

#50 AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3 // Piguet, Mann, Varrone and De Pauw

The 296 GT3 is the most beautiful car I've ever had the pleasure to see in the flesh (and even got to touch it... )

I'd literally fly to Japan and kiss every PD employee if they put the 296 GT3 in GT7... for the time being, the La Ferrari does a decent job of mimicking it - in looks, if not in handling...

I met Sam Neary's parents in the bar prior to Free Practice at Spa on the Thursday morning, and then I met Sam and his parents again by sheer chance after the race on Eau Rouge itself. Sam's car didn't make it to the chequered flag, but it was great to see the #58 start from 7th on the grid.

Launch of the Maserati MC20 GT2

The MC20 GT2 was officially launched at Spa Francorchamps during the 24h race weekend. Prior to the race, it was taken out onto the circuit for a single demonstration lap (in wet conditions) but it was possible to get a much better look at it in the paddock.

Lamborghini Essenza SCV12

I heard this car long before I saw it, and it sounded incredible. Not only is it a V12, but it also had Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps all to itself for several laps, only joined by one other car that was being driven by the actual Stig himself.

I watched this beast (well, this is the Aventador made to look like the SCV12) while standing at Blanchimont, and it was an amazing experience just to see and hear this thing.

#8 Team ABBA Racing AMG GT3 // Richard Neary and Sam Neary

Sam Neary's parents very kindly invited me to join them at Donington in October for the final round of the British GT Championships, where Richard and Sam Neary drive together in the #8 Team ABBA Racing car. It will be my first ever race where I've been invited by the team, and hence this photo is meant to show me in the pit garage near to the car that Sam and Richard will be driving!

Touring Mars is that laferrari livery shared? I would love to apply it to my laferrari.

I haven't really done anything with the laferrari but this livery changes that great work on.:)

Hi,

Your pictures are beautiful... thanks for sharing.

Can you tell me what color you used on the RX7. Is it a gray Mazda or a gray from another manufacturer ?

Many thanks.
Hi there, thanks for your kind words

I believe it is Titanium Grey Metallic, one of the stock paints for the RX-7 Spirit R Type A

Donington Decider

Alas, my trip to Donington as a guest of Team Abba Racing wasn't to be... even though the Neary family very kindly invited me to join them and sent me a pit lane pass, Storm Babet struck and wiped out any chance of me getting to the circuit. I did, however, watch the race on British GT.com and it was a great end to the season, however poor Team Abba Racing were very unlucky and didn't get the result they deserved. I made my own livery of the 2023 car, with the help of some decals from @daan.

Yes, I watched that car flip up its bonnet this morning. Shame as they were having a good run. Great livery!
Thanks 👍 I've edited it slightly and it needs transparent decals for the main sponsor on the side, though in reality, the transparent text is virtually unreadable, so I don't know why they chose that. I've tried to make this livery as accurate as possible, but it's not my favourite livery by any stretch. I'd go as far as saying it's the worst on the grid, except maybe for their other car

I believe the AMG GT3 with the bonnet flipped was the #3 Greystone car, also bright green... the #8 Team Abba Racing car was very unlucky - the pitlane was overcrowded and cars were basically parked anywhere they could get stopped. Richard Neary came in and stopped in a spot where the car was blocked from getting out, so they jacked it up and manually turned it, only for it to get stuck. By the time Sam Neary took over, the car blocking theirs was long gone anyway, but it cost them a tonne of time and they went from ca. 7th to dead last in the GT3 class. To add insult to injury, they then got a 10s stop and go penalty for the incident as well, so I bet they were really mad at the pitlane shambles.

Oh wow are those the new shutterspeeds?
Thats absolutely breath taking, that Suzuka shot is ready to be printed lol
Thanks :) The 1/1 setting in Race Photos is great to play around with, but it does unfortunately struggle on the PS4. If you use PS4 and want to play around with the 1/1 exposure setting, save your replay first before trying it, as it is likely to crash the game, esp. if there are multiple cars in the frame. You can minimise the chances of crashing by using Medium resolution instead of High, though.
Surprised nobody’s done Spa yet. They do look fantastic.
I only discovered you can make these photos after seeing a post by Clive Rose (of GT Photo Mode fame) on Twitter; and he did the obligatory shot of Eau Rouge. His tip, however, was very helpful insofar as you need to manually set the focus to the track and not a car, and you should get this effect.

I take a lot of high exposure scapes, and I found out unfortunately even on normal shutter speeds you should switch to medium quality instead of HD for race photos.

Even on PS5 it seems to push it. However I wonder if this would be different if GT7 would have been a PS5 only game?

I thought someone must have done Eau Rouge.

The shots look fantastic, no matter the circuit. I’ll be interested to see if Kaz builds on this further down the line, Polariser filter would be nice, along with a bulb feature (or at least up to 5 or 10 second exposures).

Also different bokeh options to simulate different lenses or even lens simulation.
