Made For Racing (M4R) Nurburgring 24hr Team Thread; CORE VLN Round 2 Races this weekend!!

#GTPSPA24 just past the 8 hour mark, 16 hours remain.

Mikey experienced issues trying to join the room and so lost us a lot of time.

Pace was good, car felt good, although we hear we are in 5th place 1 lap off the lead, lets hope that is the last of the bad luck for us.

i-was-ere now in the car, feeling good, lets get through the night and see where we are in the morning.

That doesn't work mass dc should have ended up calling the race as it was.

I'm sorry but that has finished in a real bad way.

I don't know but I would have expected the race to have been red flagged as what 95% of race had been run? I cant see how those last two laps have any bearing on race results....

This is covered in FGTA rules, is it covered for core 24hour events?

I feel for you guys if M4R don't come away with the win. I've only been watching and I feel like I've been cheated lol.

#GTPSPA24 Final race standings and report.

Provisional Final Standings.

View attachment 240409

These results are still provisional and subject to change.

After a grueling 24 hour race we must congratulate Bitter Rivals Racing and their drivers @Greasy07 @Lion-Face & @TheFlash05 for their intense win, M4R ended in a very creditable 2nd place after a tough race.

The race started well, Caine started the car and found himself in the middle of a 3 wide battle into Les Combes with Top Notch Racing's BMW Z4 on the outside and the Audi R8 of Avalerion Racing on the inside, all drivers come out without incident, but Caine was the loser of that battle but kept pushing and kept with the battle until it calmed down when the pit strategies started.

By the time Caine's stint was over, he had gotten us back into 2nd place and staying with the leader.

Mikey was next in, but unfortunately suffered a system freeze trying to join the lobby forcing a full system restart. This issue saw us drop right down the order into 5th place and 3 laps off the lead, so thing's had started to look bleak.

We knew there was still plenty of racing to complete so continued to push as hard as we possibly could. After some relatively incident free night stints from all drivers we were starting to pull our way back up the running order by early morning.

We soon realized, that we could get back on terms with the lead teams, but would have to make some strategy changes to do so. We decided to do this, we would have to keep our quickest driver in the car as much as we could until the end of the race.

We extended Caine's 2nd stint in the very early hours by 30 minutes and elected to get him back into the car for the final stint instead of i-was-ere who was scheduled to drive.

With these calls, and a little luck with other teams picking up penalties we managed to get back onto the lead lap and in the final hour we took the lead. After our final pit stop all was looking great to get to the end holding the lead for only a short time, but the most critical time of the entire race. It seemed that most of our competition would either have to pit again, or would be very tight on either fuel or tires at the end of the race, we on the other hand had played it safe and took the pit early.

Then, 15 minutes from the end a disastrous mass disconnection due to server maintenance saw the whole lobby close and a red flag called. The race was restarted behind the safety car for the teams to get to the checkered flag behind the safety car.

Due to when the most recent data was taken from our car from the others, we unfortunately lost time in the lap compensation calculations and so was moved to 2nd.

We figured out in pre-race testing it was faster to pit every 30 minutes due to the car being lighter due to lower fuel, we were on tyres with a better condition for longer, (over the 24 hours we would have better tyres for 8 hours compared to those who pitted every 45 minutes) which also resulted in being faster. We were also running maximum front aero because the SLS is understeer city on RH tyres, which cost us about 0.5 in sector 1 and about the same in sector 3, but through sector 2 it was mighty. I think it was the fact we had the aero which led to the great wheel-to-wheel battles we had, we could follow another car really closely only losing a small amount of performance, but ultimately we lacked top speed, which proved costly at both starts. Either way, regardless of that, we found the SLS to be off pace of the others by a few tenths per lap, so despite going like crazy we didn't really gain any time on track. We planned on each driver doing 4 hour stints a long time before the race, but it didn't occur to us how much time that would gain us throughout the race, and I think out driver strategy forced the hand of some other teams to do longer runs.

I started the race for us, and pitted 10 minutes early for my first stop (was looking at total time not track time), so for the remainder of my 4 hour stint I had to lengthen my stints by a lap or two to make up for the time. We were all talking on Skype, with the other drivers watching the stream, keeping me up to date on gaps, and traffic ahead etc. I then handed the car over to Mikey, who's PS3 froze upon entering the room, so he had to do a hard reset and re-join. This put us 3 laps down from the lead. Mike then had a solid stint, but like I experienced in my first stint, couldn't really gain anything on the other teams.

Mike then handed over to Scott, who put in a great performance to keep us in position as we reached the halfway point in the race. During Scott's stint I managed to get about 1.5 hours sleep before getting back in the car at 2am UK time. During the second stint, Mike was informing me of the gaps, same as before, but this time, we had managed to gain back 1 lap, so I decided to extend my 4 hours to 4.5 hours as I was our fastest driver. So 8.5 hours down for me, 16.5 for the team. I then handed over to Mike once again, who was able to make some more inroads on the leaders, partly helped by penalties and the likes, but still a great performance.

As Mike was just over halfway through his stint, we had a timing update which put us another lap closer to the leaders, and we made a joint decision to put me back in the car for the final stint in place of Scott. So I immediately went off and opened a lobby to further test the car. My weakest area was under braking, so I focused on improving that. There was only a minor change to the setup, but I felt a lot happier in the car.

But I said to the team, I'm not being on Skype for the final hours. I didn't want any distractions, just wanted to get my head down, bang the laps in, and hopefully work our way to the front. If we couldn't manage it, I know I gave it absolutely everything I had, and we would have been beaten fair and square, so gaps would have meant nothing anyway.

In my final stint I was lapping about 3/4 of a second faster than I was during my previous two stints, and my pace was more consistent. I was able to be in the 16's for every lap of the stint (traffic and mistake permitting), I took no prisoners through the GT Cup cars (sorry if some overtakes were aggressive - the red mist had descended), and although the battles were great, got frustrated in GT3 traffic holding me up at vital points in my stint.

I was keeping track of who I overtook, and who overtook me, and according to my maths I had reached the front, so I popped onto Skype during a pitstop to check, but according to the guys, I was only in 3rd. So I came out and kept pushing. It wasn't until 23:15 (ish) when I actually took the lead, and the team sent me a PSN message to inform me, but I kept pushing until my final pitstop, which luckily I maintained position. I knew the other guys had pitted before me, and were going to the end, the only car which I was unsure about was BRR, but luckily for me they pitted 5 minutes later.

I had come out of my stop just behind Aboe, and I was planning on sticking with him as we approached the end of the race to try and get a photo finish of the two SLS's, but the gap back to 2nd was too close for my liking so I pushed to get through.

I knew I had track position and better tyres than the other cars in contention, so I was driving fast, but tidy laps to bring the car home, leaving about half a second out there just incase I needed to push.

We then had the DC and the restart, which I knew would end badly for us, we had no straight-line speed, or pace on full tanks. I was lucky to have Greasy get lose going through Eau Rouge on the first lap, which put me back into the lead, but Pfeffer and PASM were gaining fast. I then took a little too much curb on exit of La Source, which cost me speed heading up to Kemmel, and then a repeat of the start, 3 wide into Les Combes. Once they were passed I knew that was it and I had absolutely nothing to fight back with, so didn't even try, I think I done the rest of the lap one handed. The SLS was definitely not built for a sprint, but boy was it a great car for the race. My fastest lap was only a 15.9, and I definitely couldn't have got it any lower during the race, so well done to those getting .7's and .8's!

”When my first stint was due to start, I entered the lobby as usual, but my Playstation froze, I had to do a full restart, the time watching it load was painful as I knew all this time we were dropping down the field.

Once I did get in, I didn’t know how much time we had lost, or where we were, so I just tried to get my head down and push as hard as I could. The car felt great all the way through my stints, but I was never happy with my pace, I always felt I should have been going faster, but no matter how hard I tried, it never really came.

As I couldn’t get the pace, I decided it better to just make sure I didn’t fall off trying to find the pace and so started to make sure I was at least lapping consistently.

I managed to get most of my stint completed incident free, until the final 15 minutes.

I made a mistake coming out of Stavelot, I got wide and spun on the kerb and hit the wall on the inside, I was able to continue for most of the run without losing much time, until the understeer got too bad and I spun coming through Blanchimont, I then thought it best to pit and as we were so close to a driver change, we changed in that stop.

My second stint was early in the morning and was very uneventful. At this time we were trying everything to get back on terms with the leaders, so I know I didn’t only need consistency, but I had to find some pace.

I did manage to find more pace compared to my previous stint, but still wasn’t happy, but towards the end I managed to pick it up to a more reasonable pace before handing the car back to Caine.”

"As I took the wheel after Mikey for my stint, I quickly got up to speed and began to start passing GT Cup cars.

about an hour in I had a little battle with @Greasy07, about 2 laps after he clipped the grass and spun round, by a lot of luck, I kept the pedal on the floor and managed to squeeze through a gap that was closing rapidly and without damage.

An hour later I came upon angel, for about 3-4 laps I was on her bumper grinding paint off it, I had the upper hand with better brakes and cornering speed but as soon as there was a straight, angel would pull away from me, as there wasn't any particular spot where I could get a run on her to get passed, I sat on her bumper and tried to force a mistake by dancing in her rear view mirror.

As the laps went by I could see she was struggling for front end grip, with that in mind I was looking for a opportunity to go past at a corner when she went wide, but lucky for me a mistake came, angel went into a slide and like greasy before, I squeezed through a little gap without contact.

My race was a bit dull after the first 2 hrs, just put the laps in until it was time to hand over to Caine"

Thanks to @SniperRed3 for taking some pictures of our car during the race.

Thanks to the media staff for amazing coverage of the event.

We would also like to thank everyone for their support of the team, we never realized how much support we had.

Now the team can put all focus on the CORE N24 and will be working hard to take that final step up to the top.

M4R win 3 in a row in the #CORECSS

Results from round 3 of the CSS were published today, it has been confirmed that M4R have kept their 100% win streak extending our lead in the championship to a point where we could lock it out 1 race from the end.

This weekend we head to Eiger Norwand for round 4.

If we can keep our win streak alive, we will need to hope that P24 do not manage better than 3rd and we can take the championship title 1 race early.

Shame that the red flag ruined your win, but you put in an amazing performance regardless! Well done for your first Spa 24 hours, and hopefully you can take the win next year in the Spa 24!

Competition Time!
CSS.jpg

So with the final round of the CORE Car Selection Series coming next week, we decided that wanted to see how much you lot knew about our driver's! So we thought we'd ask you a simple question and the winner picks our livery for the final round of the series. There are a couple of simple rules around the livery:

1) It must be from standard paint chips: No chips from the Anniversary Edition or from winning Seasonal Events.
2) It must come from a car that is worth less than a 1,000,000Cr, just so we all have a chance to get the chip in question.

Apart from that, anything goes!

So the question is:

Between the all the full time drivers in the Made For Racing team, how many championships from GTPlanet series have we won?

First person to correctly answer wins! Post answers here or send us a PM, either is fine

Good luck!

Results from R4 of the #CORECSS have been officially released.

CSS R4 results.jpg

After a difficult weekend in the mountains we managed to crawl back up to 4th.

We are very happy with this result, although, obviously this is not the result we wanted.

Congratulations to Poland24 Racing for taking full advantage of our woes and winning overall.

On to the final round this weekend where 7th or better will secure the overall championship for the team.

We are pleased to announce that Adrian will be taking to the track for the 1st time in this final round.

ITS THE BIG ONE: What car will Made for Racing driving in the Nurburgring 24hrs and the VLN series?

We will be driving the #4 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 RM for the CORE Nurburgring 24hrs. We had to delay our decision, due to the real world being in the way we had to take longer in our decision and we were evaluating all our options thoroughly before we made our decision.

He's some shots we got of Mikey giving the team's challenger for the N24 a shakedown at the ring today:
