Maintenance notice

I asked Whoosiergirl (she is amazingly consistant) if she could make some laps yesterday at daytona on real and low to see if anything changed.

She ran a 41.016 on real and 41.014 on low but, she said her rpm was down a couple hundred. She raised the final gear and ran 41.002 on real, she had to go so couldn't test anymore.

Makes sense that if they added grip the rpm would be lower.

Thanks for confirmation and testing. I'm glad I wasn't imagining the change. I wonder what part of the physics changed? Tires, track, etc...

The servers have had weird issues off and on since they had those 3 maintenance periods in a row before the 2.12 update. Maybe Prism isn't agreeing with GT5's p2p system :mischievous:.

There has been a ton of issues the past two weeks. People being signed out of PSN, multiple people dropping from rooms at once, rooms crashing, people being black screened, people can't see each other on the track, cars jack hammering, etc. If this is the way GT5 will be left or the way GT6 plans to do things I think I may be moving on to other sims.

I've been having similar problems with other games so it's not only gt5.

Time to restart the leaderboards again....

 Not again! :nervous:

Edit: just checked Sony. PSN is down with no given reason and not time of repair:tdown:
Though it does appear to be from people updating their PS3 to v4.45, it seems the whole system shutsdown.

They put 4.45 offline until Sony fixes the update :P which sucks so no online!

If PD is going to force you to update to play online it would be reasonable to tell us what they changed.
Well they don't have a choice.

They choose to update/alter and maintain GT5 this far down the line, 31 months after releasing the game. Some say they were obligated in doing so after releasing an unfinished or half-assed/arsed game. PD are going to update GT6 when the time comes. They choose to do that when they want whether we like it or not. I choose not to complain when PD chooses to use their position/power or not, considering they're the ones in charge. We're consumers, we have the right to complain and demand, but we don't have the right to demand anything we want whilst conveniently stating that we're the consumer and have a right to be heard. They sometimes hear us, sometimes they can't and sometimes PD/Kaz ignores it. Sometimes they can't help it because it isn't possible for whatever reason, or they ignore because they have the right to do that.

PD seems to be the only developer that puts out a patch and doesn't fully detail the changes in said patch.

It's a courtesy to provide info that is relevant to the patch in terms of what it contains, aside from a short note of "fixes minor issues".

What are the issues they fixed?

Maybe we should write to Sony instead and let them know of our feelings? They can put some guidelines for developers that includes "list specific details of the patch for the customers" compulsory before they approve of the patch release on PS3 ... what say?

edit: or maybe it could be the other way round - PD actually gives all details of the patch to Sony in ..Japanese.. but Sony are too lazy to translate and just add the one liner. LOL

I was in a real grip room with the same settings the night of the update and there was noticeably more grip in the grass. I've been doing this type of racing for over two years so something is definitely different. I was able to save the car much more easily than in the past. If we only had a change log with the update.

After the update, our drag team had to redo our trans settings, it appears they did increase grip, cause everyone was bogging on launch.

I see, thanks, so the added grip ... does it make the tires feels better and more realistic or made it worse ? All tires affected ?

He said he felt an increase of grip through grass so unless you're cutting corners on a circuit i would assume theres little benefit for circuit racing

It sure didn't do me any favors, I had a couple R34 skylines and some lancer evolutions set up to make the rear wheels kick out to do a slight drift around corners, now they catch grip to early and get launched into the wall. I readjusted my Skyline V-spec Nur and even though I ended up gaining 2 seconds over my previous record around cape ring its still not as easy to control

Oh, are you complaining.:lol::lol:

Funny guy after calling everyone complaining 🤬 in the news thread, classy..:dunce:
People trolling the news to whine about the same things every time and me wondering why there wasn't a thread about the update is about as gross a false equivalency as one can imagine.

I grind the 750PP World Circuit Tour Tsukuba event in a 600PP Chaparral 2J and I'm getting an obnoxious howl from the front wheels under hard cornering now, with no change in my cornering technique. I've had to mute sound effects and keep my tach in my peripheral view.

Nobody said they needed to know, just that it'd be nice, you know? It may be totally insignificant this time but then again it might not, it wouldn't be the first time major changes went unlisted.

What you don't know, won't kill you.;)

Enough said. I get where you're coming from, and it isn't worth trying to explain yourself. Been there, done that, and I regret the hell out of it.

Apparently, if you said, "WHAT IN THE WORRRRLD?" or "Golly gosh", it would have sounded less complainy, because saying "What the hell?", even in the context that you were using it in, sounds very complainy...smh :D

Its great that they're trying to do maintenance online, but it's starting to seem pointless to me since GT6 is around the corner.
