Absolutely awesome trade for the Angels. Trading an overvalued, obsolete player and adding two young lefties?

Nicely done, Angels.

For the White Sox - giving up Hector Santiago to get Adam Eaton sounds pretty lopsided. Were they that desperate for a quick outfielder with a soft bat?

Mariners have signed 1B/OF Corey Hart to a 1 year deal.
AND
Mariners have acquired 1B/OF Logan Morrison from the Miami Marlins for RP Carter Capps.

New York Mets sign P Bartolo Colon to 2 year deal.

In other news, we might not see anymore of this next year.

The MLB Rules Committee approved a ban on home plate collisions. The owners and players will vote on it in January.

ie, the Buster Posey rule.

Choo to the Rangers. 7 years, $130 million. I think this will be the last move for them this offseason. However, another starter wouldn't hurt. The rotation as of now is Darvish, Perez, Holland, Harrison, and Ogando. Colby Lewis was signed to a minor league contract, and hasn't pitched since 2012, so his future is up in the air. There's Matt Garza...we gave up some major prospects for him, so I think Texas should go after him, even if he didn't do as expected (lack of offense was a blame too).

Masahiro Tanaka has been posted. Who lands him?

I don't think Texas will end up with him...but, I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

If the Yankees don't end up with him, it's because they didn't want him enough.

If the Yankees don't get him, it'll be because he wants to pitch on the West Coast. Several west coast teams with deep pockets are interested in him.

The Yankees as a whole are not a better team than they were when they missed the playoffs in 2013 if they don't sign Tanaka. With their moronic overpaying signing of Ellsbury and absolutely zero real help in pitching, they need to go after a decent SP. They can't trade for Price like any west coast team can. Unless the bidding gets to 160-170 million he will likely sign in New York.

Shin-Soo Choo will wear #17 next season...the number Nelson Cruz has used during his time in Texas. Looks like they're not going to go after Cruz.

Lot of Houstonians upset Craig Biggio didn't make the Hall of Fame, securing 74.8% of votes. I was bummed he didn't get in. He eventually will get in. Biggio did too damn much to help the Astros' cause long time ago. He's going into the Hall of Fame pending some sort of scandal or something.

He will make it without question.... but probably not next year:

2015 Ballot will include: John Smoltz, Pedro Martinez and Randy Johnson are eligible.
2016 Ballot will include: Trevor Hoffman, Jim Edmonds, Ken Griffey Jr., and Troy Glaus.

I believe Biggio will make it by 2016.

The only reason that Biggio didn't get in is because these voters are limited to 10 votes. So stupid that there needs to be a limit.

Derek Holland out until mid season. Pretty big loss.
Yes it is. For those wondering, he had a "freak accident" at home, resulting in cartilage damage in his left knee. He had arthoscopic surgery.

Now the Rangers should go after another starter. I'm not expecting Tanaka, but you never know...

THIS JUST IN...

Alex Rodriguez's 211-game suspension was reportedly reduced from 211 to 162. Not sure of the specifics, but his lengthy suspension has been reduced.

Not enough for ARod.

More money for Tanaka now.
You should see all of the Yankee fans I communicate with around my area. All of them believe ARod is being hunted down and is 100% innocent. Many of them don't care that their team is saving money with that individual suspended. ARod admitted to taking steroids (which was strike one that he wasn't punished for) but then to allegedly do it again has to be the most idiotic thing he could possibly do. Whatever punishment he gets won't be enough.
