Makeshift Shuffle - No Tuning RacesOpen

Good races yesterday, was fun:) Has anyone got any tips for driving the Stratos, this car trys to kill me:grumpy:
Well you need to really be gentle with the car you can't fight it or you will spin. Be easy with the throttle in the turns and be easy with the steering. Pull to hard and you will spin. It requires a fine touch and it is one of the hardest cars I've ever driven. It's a great challenge though and if you master it it will reward you with a win almost every time you get it. Question. Do you use cm up front John?

There were great close races yesterday. I think some of the closest we've had...some too close heh. But only because there were very close packs. Good stuff.

@John Wells What daddyo says is correct. Ease into the corners, don't turn sharply...pretty much ever. Then, along with the slow turn in, you have to keep the throttle on pretty much the entire time in varying degrees (less at first for maximum turning, then progressively more). Because the car wants to turn anyway, you keep the throttle on lightly to stop it from spinning, but keep (what you want of) its turning. That's also why it only needs a slight turn in, because the cars natural motions will want to turn it anyway. It is a balancing act, a challenging one. One last thing I would add is that it is pretty much necessary to brake all that is required (in a straight line) for the corner before you enter it. Then get back on the throttle and use it to balance through the corner. It takes practice for sure.

@daddyo845 I'm pretty sure he does use CM up front (I do check tires for people, most races), it's still a challenge regardless. Especially because now there is difference in grip you have to balance.

Yes even though you don't turn in much the car has excellent cornering abilities because of what you just said @LongbowX. It's a lot like a balancing act come to think of it but it is a fun and rewarding one. Well it's not fun if you spin out . It accelerates excellently and it's top end is decent. One of my favorite cars because it also looks awesome :D

Thanks daddyo, Longbow will try this:) I need to do some practice with it and will get the hang of it:D Im sure it wasn't this hard to drive in GT5, but it is good to look at.

Yes I have CMs at front.

It was pretty tricky in GT5 too, maybe not as much as it is now. One other thing I forgot is that perhaps (if you haven't) watch replays of the other drivers in the club who have the Stratos in a race or two. If you haven't saved them, I recommend you consider starting. :P

It is a very unique looking car, and its handling peculiarities are just about made up for by its straight-line speed.

You know what I should watch a replay of myself in the stratos I'd probably see lots of twitches and slips. Another thing John, if you slip in the stratos, don't pull the other way too hard or you will not improve your situation if you know what I mean

Anyway let me know how you do John.

Also, longbow I remember that I was being tailed by you at apricot hill. I was in a stratos and you were in a 300sl. Do you remember how I drove? If you do please tell me so I can figure out what I need to work on in the stratos

Hi everybody, and I'm glad to see @daddyo845 is going to take over the Thursday slot to keep it going. 👍

I've been rather busy with real life.
Not enough hours in the day for everything lately.

@John Wells Yeah, in some ways the Stratos is harder in gt6 than in gt5. But I think it's mainly that it takes ever more patience mostly. It's defiant - it doesn't like to be pushed around! It wants TLC to deliver. ;)

It must have to do with that extra angle of movement in gt6.
OTOH, I always found the Golfs in gt5 very very frustrating and annoying... and I find they're easier to drive in gt6. And I figure again it's that extra angle of movement.

@daddyo845 Well, I went and looked at the replay since I went on a little anyway. I don't think you did too badly, you seemed to do what I suggested after a certain "acclimation" phase at the start of course. What I would say though is I tend to pump the throttle a little mid-corner - generally the problem with the Stratos is too little throttle, not too much. Safer to side on too much. Other than that...it looked okay. Perhaps be more careful about braking while turning...but it depends on the course. Sometimes it's hard to avoid.

We did a Stratos race at Motegi a while back...I didn't drive that well (a bit conservatively), but you can look at that if you saved the replay.

Thanks and I definitely think I should work on throttle during turns more. I remember the race and although I won, I thought I could've done better.

Thanks everyone for the information, its this sort of technical stuff, where I'm fairly weak in:lol: But will be more gentle with the car.

I will watch some replays of people in the Stratos. I have watched replays, to try and race a little better. It always impresses me on how the Aliens race, unfortunately I haven't got the skill to race at that level:dopey:

I can race tonight:)

I'm not an alien, but thanks. I think I will likely take a break from this for today. I'll consider doing tomorrow's races though.

@John Wells Glad to help in the little way that I can try to. Hopefully you can use it to get the hang of it!

Yeah, well, I know I'll never be an alien... because well, part of it is that I'm not going to start aging backward at this point.

But I will say that with some cars a little more patience can go a long way to being the difference between totally messing it up, and actually having a shot to get the most I could out of a car like the Stratos.

can't join . tried everthing possible .
got 0/5 connection as seen on the picture

:( You were very much missed, KingKlingeling; it was odd not having a fast black car in the field. *shakes fist at PD/PSN*

I had my normal 3 bars connection today. For what it's worth, I've had zero bars sometimes in the past in VCRC and been able to race just fine. Hopefully it was just a one-off problem!

my settings were gone :boggled:

Yeah, the latest update wiped all my saved room settings too. D:
