This has to be the biggest scam in human history. It's absolutely unbelievable how many people have been conned. The financial loses would have to be in the billions of dollars and there's sure to be a giant class action against Honey. Wow.

This isn't just a Honey problem. Several other companies are doing the exact same thing, although I don't know if they're ill-intentioned or not. I would assume they are, and are relying on that Last Click principle to be legal. Capital One has an extension that does it, and I'm currently using Pie adblock which both blocks ads nicely but also has this same "rewards" system.

Edit: Me with my glass half empty, what are the chances that guy also works for Honey, and this video goes so viral that they make a ridiculous amount of money off of it? Or what are the chances that somebody associated with that dude is shorting Paypal stock and waiting for this video to go viral over the next several months.

Umm, apparently the people behind Honey are also behind Pie...

It makes sense that they'd have to evolve the business model to actually offer some sort of service, that service being adblocking.

Guess I'm going back to manually searching for codes lol.

Edit: The founder of Honey talking about Pie:

He did an investigation into EnChroma glasses a few years ago, along with follow ups and covering rebuttals, that was pretty good, just my two cents but I'd take him at face value.

Can't say I recall ever seeing a Honey ad, but the way it's pitched in the clips in the video ('free money'), would be a massive red flag right off the bat. Anyhow.... clever scam.

Well Markiplier said that it was too good to be true… He’s going to be thankful that he wasn’t sucked in after all this.

En****tification intensifies

The finance industry is totally and completely ethically bankrupt. If you think about it, this practice would have required entire teams or even divisions of paypal to develop, and somehow all those people were ok with it. I mean, it is an Elon Musk & Peter Thiel founded company, so I guess ethics are pretty low business culture priorities.
