As I dread Honda Civics and sometimes the way they are modded, I am really happy I read it all!
Nice job in the end, was a bit happy on what it looked like in the end.

This is the first time I happened to view this thread. That EG looks incredible, and the rebuild looked fun from what I saw in the images. Good choice on the wheels too. 👍

Catch is you got to be very close to large bodies of water to get twisty and curvy, a road called Lakeshore Drive runs along the edge of Lake Michigan, which on a map looks rather straight, but driving it reveals a different story, elevation changes, sand dunes, forests, beaches, you name it.

I'll get video of it one day, but here's a pic of something I caught one cruise to hold ya' over for now.
*snip*

Hmm... Some day. Probably when I've got enough money to take a week or three off work and go roadtripping all over the country.

Anyway, I'm going to echo everyone else and say that I like what you've done with No-name. Hopefully sometime soon I'll be able to start piecing together a project of my own, though I have no idea what it'll be this attempt.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

I went digging through some old photos on FB and found some nostalgia I'd like to share, to show what kind of shape 'No-name' used to be in.

How I first laid eyes on NN, a bare shell with no power source or brakes. (or interior or decent paint or ---)

About a month later, a B18B longblock was swapped in, no power, wouldn't rev past 3k rpm, shook and made all kinds of **** noises, it needed work.

A LSVTEC conversion would do that, Golden-Eagle kit, ARP hardware, new HG, and (not pictured) a rebuilt B16A2 cyl. head with GSR cams and all the misc goodies that came as well.

Besides a better coat of paint, B-series VTEC heads just look better, perform better, sound better, and are just... better !, lol

Here's the replacement door for the drivers side, spent a-many weekend afternoon wet-sanding and giving it some TLC.

The rollcage in its initial begining, just a main-hoop and 2 rear bars, this alone increased the cars rigidity beyond what words can describe.

Some eye-candy, my Sparco Corsa seat the day I got it, with RJS harness. (just as good as the Sparco-harness for 1/2 the price!)

Another profile of the car pre-rebuild, it was like a diamond in the rough, waiting to shine.

The rear-disc brake swap from a donor car, these were torn down completely, and everything but some hardware was replaced, wheel bearings, bushings, arms, shocks, lines, calipers, hubs, etc-etc.

As for the future, I'm contemplating upgrading the whole exhaust, headers-back. But as we know, civics + exhaust = lions den. I can either good something that truly is good and sounds/performs amazing (like Toda, Spoon, etc), but at the cost of an 'arm & leg', or get something lower but suffer in quality and be labeled another fart-cannon , lol

It's a double-edged sword really, recommendations/suggestions are welcome, it's a ways-off but planning early means I can start saving early, lol

Congrats on transforming the car, hours of work seem to paying off. Liking the standard look of the car, also just curious is that a stock front Splitter?

Keep up the good work 👍

Nice to see some more project photos! 👍

Should of bought TRS harnessess. Cheaper, and proven to be stronger than Takata... and my mum makes them. :sly:

RJS, TRS, other than one being made by your mother they're probably very similar, and better than the 'JDM tYTe yO' brands

Anyways, small update, for the recent 'Street Car' seasonal in GT5, I decided to use the replica of my car Ridox2JZ made of my car that uses a DC Integra motor 👍

In-game, with power & weight adjusted to more life-like specs, on CS tires and no ABS(which sucks since there's no actual feedback like the rl thing), the car ran a low-1'09 at Tsukuba, not bad imo for what it is.

However, if No-name were to ever make it to Japan for a track-day at Tsukuba, I believe I could personally get it to a mid-1'08 laptime with some worth-while ABS-less feedback in my pedal (because a lever on a spring, just isn't gunna' cut it :dopey:)

I may start setting some 'Theoretical lap-times' here when I have the itch to drive it somewhere in-game.

Hey, I wanted to just post a quick update with the new GTPlanet and all.

The 'virtual' racecar is no more, ala 2.15, so until I pick up another '92-'95 EG and tweak that for use, which with GT6 not far away, may not happen until the new game.

The 'real' car, no big updates either. Engine loves the cold-air of late fall, I've just been enjoying small cruises when the weather allows, may or may-not get a GoPro this holiday season, holding out for that chaos known as 'Black Friday', lol.

Ok, this thread is in need of an update, so here's a tl;dr version

-Car is in storage for winter (:( I miss manual) - have pics, will try to update at some point.
-Got the GoPro & many accessories(!), but been busy enough that it's still in it's package, want to try recording a 'drift-session' next big snowfall with my 2WD Sonoma (U Evar dRiFT a TrUCk sUN ? - 'cause it's cheap fun :D)

-Next Year-
-Track-days, go to as many as I can afford (make-money-son:scared:), trying different camera angles & mounting 💡.
*So far, my list for 'positions' is: interior(dash/rollcage/pass-window), exterior(roof/hood/fender/door) and then whatever I can come up with at-track.
-Speaking of tracks, try to get out to Grattan Raceway this year.
-Upgrades: still up-in-the-air, not sure where I want to go with car yet, or if time can be made for upgrades.

But in the meantime, here's a WMHM13 recap video, enjoy ! (I'm not in any, *poutyface*Imneverinany...*/poutyface*

Try to replicate what Top Setup did with their EG.

I unfortunately missed the Top-Setup days back pre-2010 when they ran Gingerman constantly, all I've seen is videos of the EG and talk from people who knew Charlie, but he's now out in Cali last I heard/saw.

That car is actually one of the 'big' inspirations for my car, a simple & reliable setup that can wing-it with everything from S2000's to WRX's, I've got a few S2000's beat in the corners, but have to work on the WRX's still, lol

For those who don't know who/what we're talking about, here's a pic & video
EG2.jpg

^Top-Setup EG6 From Best-Motoring's American Touge 2^

v Then the 'first' (BM) video they showed up in, filling-in for a car that broke-down at Willow-Springs v

I should mention though, 3 main differences between my EG and theirs, are:
-K20A swap ($$$)
-Toyo RA-1's (this may be viable, new wheels/tires yes ?)
-Lots of seat/development time (self explanatory)

But current goal: get through winter , then we have fun. :D

This past Winter was a freakin' nightmare, more or less killed a lot of the motivation I had for this year.

The car is out of hibernation and seeing regular use when the weather is pleasant, but at this point in my life there's a few other things gaining importance (searching for a house to buy, increasing certification for work), and upgrading the racecar is slowly taking a backseat at this time.

If there's anything worth mentioning with it, I'll post it here - otherwise, take my silence as a sign that all is well with the racecar and it's doing just fine. 👍

Ok, I've been overly-busy and unable to keep this thread updated how I want (a.k.a a lot of pics), but I think you guys (and gal :P) deserve at least a rough-breakdown of what's happened in the last few months.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-West Michigan Honda Meet has come and passed, 'No-name' ran flawlessly, and I decided to spend my last $20 that day on a tank of gas over a Picture CD.
-Most of the short summer was spent using the Civic as a Daily, as its much better on gas than my Sonoma winter-truck. Again no issues or anything (build them right and they'll go far.:D)
-About a week ago, No-name's exhaust began ringing a louder & different tone, got underneath it one evening to find the forward flange of the 'bend' over the rear LCA had split and was causing a leak.
Fortunately my Uncle has a welder and is quite 'crafty' with it, and we managed to repair the main spilt/crack so I could get by until next Spring. I've had plans to upgrade the exhaust 'later' but now those will have to come before fresh track tires and other things I was planning.
But add to that the fact that I've just bought a house (those of you on Instagram know this), and that I have most of my financial resources 'taken' for the time being, just 'going and buying any exhaust' isn't as viable a solution as it was 4 months ago. :indiff:

So now I and the Racecar are more-or-less in limbo, I was hoping to supply myself a new 'rig' for Project C.A.R.S on PS4 and enjoy that (as GT6 is just... not what it should be.), but more than likely, I'll be buying No-name a new exhaust as a X-mas present to myself, rather than P.CARS, to be installed next Spring before the current one finally gives up.

As for Track-plans next year, I currently have none, new house taking priority over most things, so for now I'm just playing things by ear and using No-name as a 'quite aggressive' street car off-track in nice weather while I can 👍.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That's about it, I'm out of things to mention off the top of my head, but feel free to ask any questions.

Updates to (hopefully) come this weekend. :scared:

But it ain't good news either

Alright, well I was going to take a whole bunch of pictures to show, but... motivation - where art thou' ? :indiff:

To make a long story short, the road I currently live on is being completely re-constructed, new pavement / sidewalk / water lines / sewer lines / underground power lines / younameit, (those of you who have my instagram may know this), and as part of the construction process, the last... 8 feet or so of my driveway has been cut in-line with the new dimensions of the sidewalks & road.

Originally, the transition from my paved driveway, to the dirt, had an, aggressive, 6-inch dip to it, which even caused a bit of a "whoa" reaction in my 98' Sonoma, and when your racecar has as low of a ride height as mine, it's not exactly ready to try and climb/drop that difference without some issues. So I hadn't been able to get 'no-name' out of the driveway lately. :(

Until yesterday.

It would appear that the underground-work portion is almost complete, and as part of the construction-crew's 'tiddying-up', the whole dirt section of my driveway has been re-surfaced, and is now actually smooth and level with my driveway, meaning I was finally able to get 'no-name' out of the driveway for a weekend cruise. I didn't bother taking any pics from that drive - because the focus was on being able to drive again :D.

However, I will try to take some pictures of the construction later today. In the meanwhile, nothing has changed with 'no-name', I haven't bought that exhaust because of home-ownership/not driving as often/PC Master Race, but it is still the next 'planned' upgrade/change for the foreseeable future - just when, I do not know, maybe as a X-mas gift to myself

As they say, life's better in a classic (when you can actually drive it around) 👍
