Holy 🤬, McLaren. Do you read anything? Or, are you really just inclined to misread, misinterpret, and make inaccurate conclusions?
Done nothing of the sort. I've only read the constant dribble & day dreams you keep posting in this thread.

I didn't say that I'm going to do the hood scoop, anymore. Instead, I said 🤬 it, and stop coming here to complain about me. Go get a wfie, or something. Maybe she'll hear your complaints.
You didn't say that at all.

Your last post regarding the hood scoop was this:
You remember that I plan on autocrossing it, correct? And that a carbon fiber hood will be lighter, right? As the current intake is set up, it's routed THROUGH the fender, on the passenger side. Why the hell?!
Nowhere have you said you weren't going to do it anymore, in fact you seemed even more intent on it because a CF would be lighter as well. The only thing related beyond this was talking about getting a really good air filter.

Now, relate back to cars; I'm bringing a car at the top of its potential, because I want to have a car, that's ready for what I'm trying to throw at it.
That's fine & dandy, but you are consistently talking like this is going to become an autocross beast at all costs. There's no doubt this is a much better platform than the hilarious idea of you previously wanting a SC300, but you seem to forget it's still a stock Impreza Wagon & you want to build it to a level that, judging from the beginning of the thread, seem to have little experience with.

As for help, I see no need. You've asked for advice, been given it, & then responded with what you want to do anyway b/c you work in a factory building something that Google generally sees as speaker stands; everything else ranges from food to men. What that translates to as far as building an autocross car is beyond me.

I'd prefer if you took your cynical, snide remarks elsewhere, and tried to help, instead.
That's rich coming from a kid who just opened his last post with a snide remark to me. Practice what you preach. 👍

P.S., you wanna see what my dad and I build? "Tigercar L880" in google images will bring you up-close and personal with the fruits of the labour of our entire "team."

Like McLaren, all I found was pictures of speakers and an old school bus. Care to enlighten us?

Just go away, McLaren. You don't want to be here, so don't 🤬 be here.

Mike, I say again: Tigercat 880-L. Stupid phone.

If you approach this build and your autocross career with this attitude not only will no one be here to offer advice and help you out but it's gonna be hard to find it in the real world as well.

It's okay to question people but show a little respect when doing it, we're only trying to help after all. There are plenty of threads here that don't attract the kind of attention you're getting (and not wanting) and there's a reason for that.

Oh ok - its a giant logger.

I work there; my dad makes the big long extendable "booms," that you see.

Oh, and, don't feel bad for the environment; we plant a LOT of new, young trees, that breathe in a lot more carbon dioxide than the old trees we're cutting down.

Anyways, I'm not the biggest fan of that job, I just do it.

So, why mention it? He's gone, problem solved, right? Moving on...

Not really.

No. McLaren and I have a "past." He always criticizes me. I've told him to stop "criticizing."

Please, that's not why I created this thread. I don't want to be bullied, or harassed. I want discussion, about the car.

So, to summarize the topics:

  • Transmission- I know people who can swap entire transmissions, and I'd love to watch/work with them.
  • Air intake - Discussion over, I've decided against it
  • Gearbox (5 or 6 speed replacement for 2014?)
  • Hood - which is the best deal, I can get, on a new hood? Apparently, people don't think that the STi hood will work, but, I don't want the rust to spread
  • Spoiler - photos on the way, part on its way from Washington state

Why not just buy a second hand WRX or STi isntead of trying to turn your automatic 2.5 RS wagon into one? It'll cost you more money and time to turn your wagon into anything competitive.

Because I'm a 19 year old kid, who doesn't immediately have much money (not WRX STi money, anyways), but wants to become a mechanic, and envisions this car as the perfect project car.

Oh, and I want to make this whole thing public; blogging, and things.

You post questionable things, you're going to get called on it. Stop throwing a pissy fit every time someone posts something you don't like.

There is no past between me & you. Like I just said, you post something questionable, I'm going to call it out. If not me, then someone else will & I'm sure you don't want it to be Az because he'll give you his honest opinion.

Find out in the real world, not everyone gives you warm & friendly advice or just agrees with you when you post something silly. I don't bs no one; I think you're asking for advice & "help" you don't actually want b/c as said before, you seem to have your answer already made. You just want us to give feedback on it.

The whole "GTFO" attitude you have doesn't work, either. You're posting on a public forum, thus you're subject to "negative" posts just as much as you are to the supportive posts you want. I'm sorry not everyone here myself included, isn't agreeing with you that this is the perfect project car, let alone something worth the money you plan on dumping into it.

But hey, the first step is to start making mods, posting pics, & proving us wrong. Until then, I'm just seeing a lot of lists & no actual progress beyond maintenance. We've seen it all before.

Well if you're a 19 year old kid, maybe you shouldn't be trying to build a race car out a family wagon with no money. 💡

Exactly. Coming from someone who knows very well how much stuff costs when modifying a car, to get where you want with this is just going to be so much for so little.

I started with a good base but I've still spent a small fortune on mine.. But I'm doing it because I love my car and want to improve it, not because I want a really good track car because if I wanted that financially I would have been far better off to buy an Evo..
