I put Miata's in the same category as Mustangs. Girl's cars. Aside from things that have already been pointed out like low visibility...

Miatas and Mustangs are not real racecars, they're fast food. Made cheap and appealing rather than with a true driving spirit in mind. Now back to the original topic, the 86 on the other hand was designed to do your every bidding. The car almost drives you, rather than you driving it. Driving a Miata is like a day in the park, driving an 86 is like riding a roller coaster.

As miata13b said it all comes down to taste. If you want a touring car, Miata's just great. If you want a car that will test your skill as a driver and give you a rush doing it, the 86 would be much better suited. For that reason, I think the 86 is a much better drifting car.

For the record, YES I have driven both cars extensively.
