No, GMT is United Kingdom (UK) time. Standing for Greenwich Meridian Time, Greenwich has a building exactly on the GMT line IIRC. đź‘Ť
That's a bit like when Americans come to America and say "Isn't it cool that they built the castle next to the train station".
The GMT line is where it is because that's where the astronomers at Greenwich drew it...
