Yeah... I was making a lake between some mountains and one end wasn't quite blocked off. I was using //fill water and typed 250 instead of 50 so there was quite a bit of water where it shouldn't be. Then I tried to drain it and the server crashed.

Man, that was a huge mess. It was all the way to my castle. That pic of my flooded castle is sweet.
slump how can i get those shaders?

Soooo, downloaded the 'demo' for PS3 and got quite hooked.

Is it worth waiting for the PS4 version to come out, or should i buy the PS3 one?

I agree with DQuaN, get the PC version if possible, though you need a reasonably decent rig to run it smoothly. It's a common criticism that it isn't programmed/optimised too well for what is a pretty basic looking game, though this is in part due to the original version it grew from effectively being a java-based browser game.

The console versions hold your hand in that you don't use a crafting table to lay out materials or ingredients to make other things. The inventory UI kinda does it for you, which I dislike. Also the world in the PS3 and 360 versions is comparitively small. If you explore far enough you can and will reach an invisible wall, whereas you have to travel a looooooong way to hit that on the PC version.

That said, presumably the PS4 and Xbone versions will have a bigger world.

GLSL Mod with SEUS Shaders

Ressource Pack is Chroma Hills 128x SEUS Special

Take it from my personal experience- if you can't play the PC version, definitely get the console versions. I actually love the PC version more than I do the console version, but I think it is easier to have the console version to easily craft materials. All you need are the certain materials to craft items and not have to remember how to draw out certain items. Definitely get the PC version if your PC can handle it. I feel like I can do so much more with the PC version as opposed to the console version. That isn't to say, however, that the console version lacks fun. At least you're still getting the Minecraft experience people worldwide love, even if isn't as regarded as much as PC Minecraft. I mean... do you want to enjoy Minecraft or not? Don't hesitate to buy the console version if you enjoy the demo of it.

Nothing really new from me in my Minecraft PC adventures. I am considering making one of the most interesting structures I've ever attempted- an aquarium. I might even try to move a horse I tamed to one of the Player homes. That way, I'll be able to put my horse in a more interesting environment so I can turn him loose to get some better travel among various points. My horse is currently based in one of the major cities I created in my Minecraft world. Oh- imagine that... take a horse out of the big city and to a more rural/country environ.

Too bad the GLSL mod isn't compatible with Mac OS X. :grumpy:
I wouldn't be too sure about that:

MC 1.7.10 with latest Optifine and latest GLSL Shader Mod
Chroma Hills 128x SEUS Special
Mac OS X 10.9.4

Not all Shaderpacks work, but the good ones I tested were these:

  • CUDA Shader Ultra (in my case AMD version, the other resulted in blackscreen)
  • MrMeep Shaders v4 rc4 (latest)
  • SEUS v08 Ultra (Legacy)
  • Chocapic13 Beta 4.7.1 (only the beta works)
  • Ziipzaaps Shader Lite (Med, High, Ultra looked weird in certain situations)
  • Sildurs Shader Vibrant (I used max, maybe the other versions are better)
  • Hoo00's Shader Pack B (glitchy on my system, but he codes them on OS X, so maybe it will work for you...)

The screens from DQs Server were not taken with any of these. Those pictures were made with a SEUS 10.1 Ultra Installation under Windows 8.1.

Incidentally guys I'm not intentionally ignoring the server - just the bog-standard graphics card that came with my otherwise absolutely fine PC just doesn't like loading Minecraft. No amount of driver updates seem to be fixing the issue and a couple of the updates I've tried have given me my first blue screens in years, so I'm probably going to resort to a graphics card update instead...

What card is it?
AMD 760G. Really basic one, from what I can gather. Just doesn't seem to like running Minecraft (throws up an error rather than opening the game), and my PC doesn't like the driver update. That said, after I updated the driver it didn't work either, but it did start crashing my PC, so I had to bring up an old restore point.

I've made the mistake, or maybe good fortune, to get started on the pocket version of this game about 6 months ago. After about two weeks muddling with it I got the full version for the PC. Let me tell you, if you've not played the PC version with FTB Monster, Tekkit Galacticraft or Yogscraft Complete, on a server with some grand objectives, you have yet to really play Minecraft. The console versions are definitely far better than the pocket edition, but they candle hold a candle to the awesomeness of a well modded PC version.

From what I have heard your data and game saves will transfer directly over to next gen consoles. So you could get the PS3 version for now. I have been playing on 360 and will transfer to the X1 when it comes out for that console.

You should PS3 version now, because I heard 4J is going give us a discount for the PS4 and PSVita versions if you own the PS3 edition (I believe the PS4 edition will be $5, and PSVita will be free.)
