Recently did a fly-through of part of my main map using PS4's video capture and thought I'd share (sorry no music or narration). I've been playing on this map for about 3 years now, often with my girlfriend. We started on PS3 and expanded the map after loading it on PS4. Originally I was playing just in survival mode but have been playing on both survival and creative for a while now after getting the tower base self sufficient with it's own farm.

Video starts outside my tower base and also shows the larger farm and farmhouse in the surrounding area. The main tower has a spiral staircase that goes from just about the top of the tower down to the bedrock and the cave base. The tower has farms, ovens, crafting tables, etc., top level has a 9x9 map wall showing the entire world. Most bases are marked with beacons for visibility.

Is anyone playing with the sky factory modpack? I am quite enjoying it with a few friends.

A quiet moment to reflect on my most recent failure. Nearly three in-game weeks, almost died first night due to a pack of wolves and an errant hit....but SSSSSKEBOOM when trying to track down a village.

Started playing the Windows 10 Edition, I'd say it is a bit harder than the normal game. Creepers can kill you in one blow on Easy.

Minecraft 16w39c - 5 block tall cactus!.png

I've been playing around with the 1.11 Snapshot and found a Desert Temple with a 5 block tall cactus! I didn't even know they would grow to be that big!

Big whoop, an animal pen with pigs and a cow, right? Cows were walked over here from the other side of a nearby jungle, around 2000 blocks from here. Would've been much more efficient to use a Nether portal network. BUT I'M A MANLY MAN AND DO THINGS THE MANLY AND COMPLICATED WAY.

Ladies and gentlemen. I need some assistance.

I went into the end, slayed the dragon and retrieved the egg. Back in the normal world I wanted to build a showcase for it. I accidentally hit it with my pickaxe and it teleported away. Trying to get it in front of a piston again caused it to spawn onto a piece of farmland and there it disappeared...

Is it lost forever because of that or do I need to dig underneath my farm to see if it spawned there?

Hopefully it's just buried. I read that they can end up buried a few blocks down after being hit, or it could have landed somewhere else. I accidentally hit mine just after defeating the dragon and was never able to find it, even after digging up the whole area it appeared in :( I wish it showed up in creative mode as I'd love to put it in my castle

I dug out everything in a 20 block radius underneath it but nothing. Further down there's a massive cave, explored it but it's gone. Ah well.

Man, that sucks. Sorry that happened. Can't you respawn the dragon though in the latest update? You have to craft the crystals and place them on the exit portal.

Also, has anyone tried the new 404 map someone made? I'm going to try it out and post my progress.

Too many save files? I had the same problem happen while playing Fallout 4. I had to delete a few in order for it to start saving again.

I haven't played Minecraft lately, but I may consider a return for two reasons. Believe me- this post IS Minecraft-related.

One reason I am returning to Minecraft is because I somehow had a vision of making some kind of game as a prototype for making voxel models. And so I am studying Minecraft mostly to gain inspiration towards any sort of future work. It began with me sort of thinking about some of the voxel models I prepared to maybe be used as Minecraft mob material. It then ended up being a test bed for a game idea I had. Most of my Minecraft experience is mostly with Creative work, though I have logged some decent hours in Survival Mode for console (PS3 for me) Minecraft.

There is another reason why I may return to Minecraft, and this reason is to practice modifying Minecraft based on a chapter in the Java programming book to practice learning Java. Previously, I didn't want to screw up Minecraft beyond recognition. That's why I was completely fine keeping Minecraft as vanilla Minecraft. Even if to try to learn how to modify a game like Minecraft, I wanted to continue my own Java self-teaching. Maybe my education of Java can lead me to making my own mod(s) and bring my own vision(s) to life. I am not suer what I would have to do to make sure I don't completely screw up bone stock Minecraft. It would mean I have to make a backup of all of my Minecraft content and then reserve one copy for editing and for doing the programming featured in the book for Java programming in Minecraft. On an unrelated note, I've edited Duke Nukem 3D to a good extent but still never felt like I destroyed the original game through my edits and programming. I just have my worries about trying to modify Minecraft to any crazy extent. Then too, I hear of Minecraft being used to educate young programmers and novice programmers. So it can't all be bad, right?

To end this set of musings for Minecraft, let me just say again that while I am not a Minecraft fanatic, I am a fan of Minecraft for the experience and the creativity. Anyone who has never played Minecraft and want to see what it is about should definitely give it a try for the variety and the limitless things you can do. This is one of those games in which your imagination is the only limitation. Even with a bunch of blocks, you can still make many beautiful things and engage yourself in many unique experiences. I still remember being in a desert setting and see a Savannah setting across a river. I never run out of ideas how to modify a great world given to me through Minecraft. Time flies by trying to build cities and even trying to find new ways to enjoy being in the Minecraft realm. Unless your device doesn't run Java or if you can't handle Minecraft, I actually would recommend Minecraft to others even to this day.

That's all. Keep on minecrafting, mates! :)

Nope, your eyes are not deceiving you! This is THE FARLANDS!
Well... a custom world generation to make it like the Farlands...

Here is the link to the preset!

I'm loving this so far. However, the main issue I have is water... I have enough Iron to make a cauldron and it can fill up gradually so I can get a full bucket of water for crops. Still, this is an amazing world!

I finally succumbed and bought Minecraft for the PS3 - and I've started trying to build a Minecraft model of my workplace, which as you can see (below) is an ideal target for something to build - albeit in Creative Mode, since getting that much gold in survival mode might be a bit hard. I have completed the front of the building and have put in one floor - I'm trying to replicate the interior from memory and it is surprising how it is possible to not notice details about a room/floor that you see every single day - but looking around this morning, I think I did an OK job on getting the dimensions right.

Can you take screenshots from Minecraft in PS3 without having to use some fancy capture card?? It would be great to have some shots of the finished building, even if my plans to build the entire campus might be just a tad ambitious, not least because I have started to build quite near the edge of the map, which means there is not enough room for the adjacent building even if I wanted to build it...

Screen capture on the PS3? No.

Screen capture on the PS4? Yes.

Minecraft has a fancy feature to transfer worlds from the PS3 unto the PS4. The PS4 has built in video and screen capture capibility.

Making awesome progress on my Windows 10 game. Made a decent house with a kitchen and an empty room for enchanting. I also built a portal and planning on making a brewing station in the Nether.

I really want to get this game on my PS4. I just wish I didn't have to buy it a second time. :/

A let's play of Firewatch has inspired me to set up several outposts and emergency chests scattered around. The interior style of the towers look so cozy, and it would be pretty easy to replicate in Minecraft. The only thing is, if I make all of the chests in a singleplayer game, they would be useless unless I died and my bed was destroyed. If I dedicated my time to building this, it would have to be in a multiplayer session that could be shared with several people.
