I thought with strategy, patience and a bit of luck in the start you could beat it. But no, sometimes you hit a wall and hope you're just lucky.

Look at top left.

How was I supposed to pick the one over the other? :grumpy:

Before I had ever beat expert mode, I had one game where it came down to two squares left...one had a mine and the other didn't. I guessed wrong. I swore the game off for months after that.

Haven't played Minsweeper in years, when I did play, it just ended up in a storm of curse words. 🤬 :banghead:

I think it's more fun to see hwo quickly you can beat it on easy. I've seen 6 seconds.

I can't remember, but I think my fastest is 6 or 7, too.

Would be awesome to get it down to 3 seconds or so.

Thats why I quit my job as a mine sweeper and started a new career as a pin ball wizard!

Tough Luck, I say. Minesweeper is fun :)

Minesweeper flags on MSN was ever MORE fun!

Minsweeper is unfair

"The Last mine is cheap, it's a 50/50 guess so how am I supposed to know which square to hit?! MS needs to fix this now"

Same as I win in Nordschleife where I leave the road a couple of times and then deduct accordingly from the final time.

That would be something idiotic to do, and clearly not the same.

Is the game unfair? Yes it is, given that from the very beginning you have to click on a random square, with no guarantee you are actually clicking on a safe spot. And it would be reasonable to be mad at that moment. But being mad because you can't make the final click, after clicking in a lot of different places, and being right every time... well then, if you don't realize why it's completely acceptable to claim you have already won, even if the game doesn't say so, then it's your problem.

Personally, I don't mess with games in which luck plays a part.

EDIT: Also, the above only reflects my opinion. To me, when there's no way to know what am I supposed to click, then I have already won (that is, done everything in my power, completed what is possible to complete).

The point of the game is to mark all the mines with flags and clear all the safe squares. If you haven't marked one mine and haven't cleared one square, you haven't "won" - or even finished.

Even on easy I normally come to a point where it's a random luck guess no matter how hard you try to ensure victory- I really hate that game. I so wish the work computers had chess on them for Saturday shifts, instead I'm stuck with Solitaire which gets boring after the 2nd go, and Pinball/Hearts which both jiff you eventually, but win-able, but are also ultimately boring.👎

I agree.

In my case, if there's no way to guarantee a win, it doesn't make a difference whether I click the safe square, or the mine. For what we know, even if I click the safe square, it was accidentally. A matter of pure luck. I know I don't get a satisfaction from winnning that way. May as well start a different game, and hope it ends differently.

This game is easy just enter click the minesweeper game and type
XYZZY" then press Shift-Enter and look at the little pixel in the top left if its white its a safe square if its black or blue its a mine.

For good times ie 0 seconds.
hold down the left and right mouse buttons and you should see a 3x3 square imprint on the board. Next hit the ESC key while holding down both mouse buttons, and the timer is stopped!

I tried using Cheat Engine on this game before...not to cheat but to see if hacking it was possible with simple value changes.... couldn't change the number of mines, i was able to change the value of the record time however :P
