This page is so different than last page, I wonder what page 3 is gonna look like...

The experiment continues, I kinda like this, I will probably do a set later on to flesh out the idea.

Hmmm... I think no, the car is just right, maybe just positioning it at the bottoms on the contrast with Coliseum... that's just my vision.

I have a bad habit of always flattening my layers and saving it as a flat jpeg, and then regretting it...

Actually the mini cooper you've asked me to do is half of its way to my gallery

Sweet! Can't wait!

Looks pretty retro-tastic to me. Honestly if it weren't a modern car on there I would have been fooled. 👍

haha the polyphony billboards also gives it away, yeah I thought it'd be funny to put a 2007 car in an old poster, too bad there arn't too many old cars.... I thought about putting the schwimmwagon in a propaganda poster... but that's probably a bad idea.

The Pop art 300SL is great i did a similar thing with my SV, but it sucks.
Also, thanks for making sure i don't get a single vote with that entry xD Damn that is amazing dude. How long did it take ?

Haha thanks, but I'll be happy if I just got in the polls for once.

The Ferrari took about... 5 minutes to shoot and 2 hours to shoop. I was planning for no more than 30 minutes. As I really should have been working, now I'm behind with work.

Nice to see the Rome background was taken from GT5 as well. I think the Ferrari is in good size for the poster, and it is more elegant comparing wide angle shot (Monaco).

Good idea for the FT86 one. I think it turns out well.

FT is something... understood what you wanted to do) it's ma be similar to heat of the track - difficult to show on picture cause it was always shown on video... if you understand me) maybe adding some background like Germany?

P.S. How did you do this white colored areas on the wheels of F1? I tried it but wasn't very successful... could you please give any advice?

^ I actually used a brush to draw on the white and some of the black, I use a cintiq to draw.

Time for an update; a full set of the FT86

This was a lot of work as it's a compositional nightmare.. I quite like it though. Hope you guys like it too!

I think the FT86 is such a pretty car, this is flame-surfacing done right. Look at picture #2, the way the hood and the fender meet is so cool. And the little indents under the headlights gives a bit of darkness under it and gives it a pop of contrast, very nice designs.

Part 2 of the update

I was commenting in Krakozyabr's gallery about trying to recreate heat on the tracks. What I meant was heated pockets of air on the ground that are reflective. I tried to recreate it here, but I think it only happens when something is very far away. I think the car is too close to the camera in this picture to be realistic, but you get the idea.

This is awesome work. I like how people are pushing the output from photomode in GT5. Great job!
Thanks, I try.

Thanks, Yeah, if you slow down and look there are a lot of landmarks around the city tracks. Hope you like the full FT set.

Great! Ft looks very realistic! 2, 3, 4 and last are the best I Think!

Last heat picture... mmm, I don't know how to explain it... you've made a heat from the track, from the surface, and it looks very natural. It's very very realistic photo. I was trying to create an exhaust heat, now I'll give a try to smth mixed - from far away camera, going out from the apex! but you've done it more natural and in fact far more better! Downloaded the last shot:)

Guess we have just started 2 different directions in GT5 Photomode - Retro Posters and Racing Atmosphere Shots:tup::)

Some of those blended shots work fairly well, some not so much but very good to see some experimentation and creativity.

As for the heat reflrction effect, it may not be super technically accurate but it sure looks pretty good regardless. Fooled me at first glance. Well done. 👍

Thanks man! It's always interesting to here which ones people like, because it always seems to be different to my point of view. Because the last one was the hardest, I was out of ideas so I just kept it simple.

[high_5]And yeah, we totally started it [/high_5]

Spectacular, Minimarco!
=) thanks man!

FT-86 set is so abstract I love it. 👍 Cool heat reflection too.
Hmm.... Abstract... I haven't thought of that... I guess it is!
But thats a great word... abstract...you've given me an idea to maybe to push it even further, beyond recognition of the car... maybe... but thanks!

touche, Some of the comps were in there just cus I made them and, I thought, it's really a toss up. hard to say if people will like the ones i don't like. So yeah, might as well =P Which one's do you think are the weak ones? it'd be interesting to hear.

Yeah it's not accurate at all, I have no idea how the phenomonon works, or how to spell phenomonon, but I used photo reference and it's totally not accurate to the picture. I think the car needs to be on the horizon line. I'll try and do a better one next time, maybe at laguna seca.

Wow, you have some very very cool stuff in here, very creative! Your early shots from Toscana are great - well composed and lit, and the Alfas in the snow has a nice 'feel' to the entire set. Number 9 of the 8C looks very playful, I like that one. :) The FT-86 set is different - it's a cool idea, not sure how much I like it for a whole set, but for two or three feature photos in a set it'd be great.
I do love your retro F1 poster, interesting to see the inspiration here! You've nailed the look, it does fit in perfectly with that style of vintage Formula poster. Keep up the great work! Looking forwards to seeing an entry from you in this week's PS comp!

Hmm, well it is hard to say because it does come down to personal taste but I rekcon the weak ones for me are numbers 1,2,4 & 7. For varing reasons. But others like numbers 9 & 3 are really nice. But props for trying something new. 👍

I cant believe my eyes. Great pictures.
I'm glad I made you question reality, and thanks 👍

Thanks thanks and thanks! I think I was captivated by the beauty of photomode and now I'm more into dissecting the beauty and seeing what gooey goodness is inside, and using it as a medium.
Looking forwards to seeing an entry from you in this week's PS comp!
Oh the pressure is on!

Okay okay, got ya. Don't worry about offending me as critiques are more important than praise (although those are nice too). I see what you are saying, I pretty much agree with you. The weak ones you listed, except for 1, were the ones where I just don't feel it falling together, like im toiling over it for 40 minutes to make it work. 9&3 and 5 were the ones that were easy, it just fit and made sense and took less than 2 minutes. and thanks for daring to critique lol, no it's awesome:tup:

^ yes exactly, the KISS rule (Keep.It.Simple.Stupid)

Experiment #3
I saw the EvoX at Eiger Shot beautifully over at Revolution's gallery and was immediately inspired. Here's what popped into my mind...

Ooh, nicely done! I'm flattered :P

You've gone much more a studio-style look with these, it's very cool. Did you consider going a bit more photoshop-heavy and smoothing the reflections a touch, so it's not so obvious that you're in a tunnel? IE removing the reflected pillars etc.
The second one is my favourite, I think. Nice job!

Yes but I was too excited and posted them straight away. I have thought about it... but yeah its photoshop heavy, I tried filling it in by hand and those thin reflections in the second one is very difficult. Also, if I do a bit of clean up, then i do a bit more here and there then pretty soon I do the whole car and its 2 hours gone. so I said screw it. =P

And thanks!

I'm thinking of combining a few black and white reflection shots over each other and do an abstract piece. One where it's just shapes with no resemblance of a car... might be cool...

Nicely done MiniMarco, looks cool. I agree with Rev though would have been even better with cleanup and smoothing. But still nice.

I like them a lot. It kind of looks like a drawing. But like a film negative translated into a drawing. Or something.

Cool stuff. 👍

Thanks for the support guys, this is why I keep experimenting. 👍

A small update here, my Shoop Comp entry + SLR bonus round

And here is something I whipped up with the previous three SLR pictures, inverted, stacked, duplicated, rotated, and recolored. I think it's..... it's alright I guess. Barely qualifies to be posted in a GT5 photomode forum though. shhhhhh

Both are awesome! I like the colours for the SLR shots, and the Gallardo Cars shot is very well done, too!

You have some really clever concepts. Love the pixar one. :)

The FT86 are near identical to an artist concept rendering of new cars. 👍
