Mitch's Tuning Challenge - Let's get this show on the road!

Ok so, things came up in life and I had to postpone this... It's ready to roll now ;)

Is everyone ready? If we are I'll give out the guidlines today and we can have a deadline of Saturday.
Sorry for the wait, I'm actually excited to do this.

If the deadline is this Saturday, then it's highly unlikely I can take part. :( Busy...

Don't let me change things though, if the majority turn out to be able to do it, then by all means go ahead. :)

If the first challenge goes through and you can't make it, no worries.. There will be many more to come :)👍

I'm interested, but I think I found a flaw in your guidelines, are we allowed to exploit anything we see so long as all the rules are followed?

Explain?
You guys are the people who know the games tuning physics inside and out. Fill me in on the flaws. 👍

For example, I could enter a Red Bull X2011 Prototype that I got with the DLC, since I didn't pay any credits for it. I'm not going to exploit things like that, but I figured I would put it out there.

Is it a good idea to include maintenance in the budget? I'd think it would make more sense if oil changes and overhauls were outside of the budget, but that's just me. I think it would make for a more interesting variety of cars.

I'd also suggest banning the ZZII straight off, it's ridiculously cheap and would completely dominate.

I would've thought that even though you got the car for free, it'd still be regarded as a Cr.20,000,000 car in the shootout.

Along the same lines though, there's nothing regarding racing or tuner cars. Even if they're allowed, you need to state that in the first post since most of the tuners are used to them being off-limits in shootouts. 👍

Whether they're allowed or not doesn't change my choice of car anyway. :P

I'm glad you mentioned that....

Must be street legal, no concepts. Production Cars only.

Kind of depends on your vantage point I guess... It's a good idea and I fully understand what you're saying. I just feel that if we have used cars, that had free overhauls, they may have a huge advantage.
Cheaper in price yet brand new in construction, I don't know.. I will leave it up for debate because I want to know how everyone feels toward this. I don't want to be running the show, this is meant to be fun for everyone. 👍

There is another issue that needs to be resolved; used car prices. How do we know what people paid for them? What if I want to use a car that I bought over a year ago? How will I know how much I paid for it? Maybe we could use the prices listed on mygranturismo.net for consistency? Way better than taking our word for it.

That is what I had in mind. 👍 .. not that I don't trust people ;)

Welcome to the first tuning challenge that I present to the tuning community of GTPlanet.

In these challenges, tuners and tuning garages will have the opportunity to showcase what they're made of! For each challenge I will set guidelines such as price, hp, weight, or make to find which tuner can create the best car, whether that mean it's the fastest or most fun to drive.

Each of these competitions will be covered through a review in the main GT5 section as well as GTPodcast (Which will be starting back up again).

Would anyone be interested in something like this? Mostly just for a fun challenge 👍

Challenge 1: What can you do with 80,000cr?
-Guidelines-
All tuning parts are free range.
All drive trains are open to use as well.
Obviously No Hacking/Modding/Hybriding.
Used cars are available but you must include the oil change, and rebuilds in your budget.
MUST be a street legal, production car. NO race cars. NO concept cars.
Tires: No more then Sport Hard tires.
The winner will go to who ever can make the best car. Does that mean the fastest, most fun, or most consistent? Those characteristics certainly won't hurt your chances.

These units all of 80, 000.00 already including the car would be great working on a cheaper car possivel.com more possible good boldness with the tunes:idea:

I can't really give specifics like that, because those rules will change from challenge to challenge. 👍
I can say, if people use the NSX or Lotus it will count for much less then if they were to use a Dodge ram (<Obviously no one will use a Dodge RAM, this is just an exagerative example.

Have you met the guys at Clueless tunes??

My reputation proceeds my
I have come close to entering a RAM in a shootout, but never have...... yet :D :dopey:

Maybe I can enter my lovely car TOYOTA 2000GT '67 on comfort soft tiers with 370PP just on it or 400PP :dopey:

This is how.

Definately interested. Let me see what I can do...

Hey MadMax86

I can't figure out how that system works.

You said that the sale value of a car is 0.3 of the 'new' price, or 30%. (Or did you mean one-third? In which case it would be 0.33rec

If it is 0.3 then can I just restore the car, and divide the sale price by 3, then multiply it by ten to find the new car price?

If so, then the car I chose, the Holden Monaro CV8, has a new car price of 47960.

That seems like a really complicated way to choose a car and very difficult for the event organizer to check. Waaaayyyy easier to use the mygranturismo site for car prices. I spent a half hour on the site with the cars sorted by price and was quickly able to identify 15 great cars that would qualify for this challenge.

Car sell value = 30% of a new car value at 0 km.

To find out a car's current value (based on mileage in kilometers).
If using miles , multiply that mileage by 1.6 to do the (PD) mileage conversion for kilometers.

New car 0km value - ((new car 0km value : 200000) * mileage in km) = current value

Do cars have to be broken in?

Also, Mitch, including the maintenance costs is a bad idea, I've just realised now: What if you already have a standard car in your garage, but you can't remember whether you overhauled it or not? Are standard cars going to be restricted to be ones that have been freshly bought from the UCD? How will that be enforced? Photos?

Etc etc.

Like I said, it's currently up in the air right now. If many people think it is a bad Idea than cross that off the list. Anyone else want rebuilds to be free?
I'm not against it!

I had a think about it, and it feels a bit like if the overhauls aren't free, then there's no reason for anyone to use standard cars, as you can get premium cars which don't need that overhaul. For me, the argument that you can get standards for cheaper doesn't really hold any water as we're taking their values from new, not their reduced values according to the mileage they've done.

That's my opinion anyhow.
