Show me the reviews. And explain to me how the handling is improved through the exact same suspension with the exact same wheelbase and track length and etc..etc..etc..

You got me - they kept everything the same.

In fact, it's the same car.

I would show you the reviews, but that would mean scanning them, and, as I've already won this argument at least once in the past, I'm not going to waste my time. Thanks for the idea though.

do I see competetion..? :D

Actually, the Evo 6 also had a 6.5 version.

After year's of seeing Evo's in magazine's, video's, and game's; I'm still in disbelief that Mitsu sell's them in America. My neighbor has an 8, and I'm shocked every time I see it.

As long as Mitsubishi build's a good car, any Evo is a good edition to the mostly dinosaur technology that's in this country.

Ok M Power...How about we settle this.....I just had an epiphany......Maybe all the magazine articles you read, compared the Euro spec Evo 7 vs the Euro Spec Evo 8....Because the Euro spec 8 is infact better than the 7 in that comparison, because Europe got ripped off with performance on their 7.....However the Japanese spec 7 Vs the Euro Spec 8....Keep in mind this is the best version of the 7 against the best version of the 8 according to #'s...has yet to been tested....So the possibility remains that the 7 could still be dominant

So, rather than compare them fairly, with the Euro 8 vs the Euro 7, you're comparing the Euro 8 vs the Japanese 7 because 'this is the best version of the 7 against the best version of the 8'? When you make sense, I promise to actually have this discussion!

ok....I've compared the 2....And the Evo 8 is still heavier than the 7 with the same power...so explain to me how it's better...seriously..

You gotta remember that the Japanese makers often quote 206kw/276hp/280ps regardless of the real power.
Rumour has it that this may change soon, but ATM only the offshoot companies such as STI or NISMO go over that stated limit.

The GTRs are an excellent example. The R32 is lighter than the R34, but is slower - despite the same quoted power. on the dyno the R34 pulls significantly more power. It's the same reason when you but some 276hp cars in GT3/GT2 /1? their hp suddenly rises when they get into the garage.

The R34 make's more then the Gentelmen's agreement. Do you ohnestly think a car that weigh's almost 2 tons, and only make's 276hp, can tear up the 1/4 in low 13's? Or run to 60mph in just over 4 seconds? Not a chance.

Lol I'm well aware of that.....but since M5 is so bent on the 8 being a better car than the 7 what is wrong with comparing the best standard Evo 8 against the best Standard Evo 7.........I mean...IF the car is better it should be better overall,,,not better against ONE of it's predecesors..

He wants to compare cars sold in two entirely different markets. Which wouldn't be so bad if it weren't an obvious attempt by him to get the result he wants from the comparsion. Especially after I told him the Euro 8 would be better than the Euro 7 and he used the Japanese model anyway.

No....the whole time i've been giving Japanese specs.....Then out of no where you tell me "Go check the euro specs".....You were the one that brought in an entirely different market...not me

We still won't get it, so why bother? What's the point of coming back to Canada, Mitsubishi, if you don't sell the most important car in your lineup? Tossers.
cuz canada sucks

Evo VI TME all the way. Always have and always will love that evo over all. I've grown to like the eight after hating it at first, but still would take a TME anyday. Even the rally world has shown the dropoff of the newer evo's.
The Evo's reign of 3 consecutive WRC championships ended as soon as they changed it into a bigger car in the Evo 7. It's all the smaller cars whoopin on it now. Makinen moved into a Subie. Can you blame him? He saw where Mitsubishi was goin and got the hell out. There is no comparison and I will not let this go until I can at the very least drive an evo 6. I must say the eight is a very impressive car to drive, but I would be much happier with a used Evo 6 than a brand new Evo 7 or 8. I will own one...some day. I would do nearly anything to own an Evo 6 TME.

No...I would hardly compare the WRX to the Evo 8.
The Evo 8 directly compares to the STi. Sure the STi boasts more power, but is more sluggish in handling. Where the STi leaves off the Evo picks up. And therefore still beats the STi in most tests. Except for straight line acceleration, and maybe top speed potential. The 8.5 is just a revision to make it beat the STi even more, or make it less of a decision about which one can out perform the other. I personally like the driving feel of the Evo over the STi because I like curves and being able to push those lateral g's. Maybe the STi has a little more to be able to put you back in your seat, but even with the VCD you can't get as much power to those rear wheels, therefore plaguing the STi with more understeer than desired.

I don't like the bull-nose thingie at the front (where they stick the badge) The new Mitsubish Pajero and Magna are going for the same look, and it looks a little crappy to me.

It looks ok tho, but i think the best EVO shape was the EVO V. The big fog lights really made it look aggressive.

yeah, back from the dead, been really busy.
Almost too busy to go online.
most of my online time has been spent on the nissan boards trying to get good deals to hook up my "for now" car. I have it for now until I can get my uncle to hook me up with a nice Evo 8 for invoice. Still too rich for my blood right now though. I'll take the gradual progression of having a used WRX for my next car (would hate to finance and evo 8 only to put like 50k on the car a year) I'd feel bad doing that to such a nice car.

As for the fog lights, they have them in the light cluster. More marketable I guess. They think us americans need to have these new fangled HID's and a more plain less agressive looking car. Hell, I'd prefer regular halogens like the 5 or 6 just to have the car look like that. The car has changed so much. They've never made such huge changes in the evo. Even if you look back to the very first evo, you can still see where the 6 came from. But the 7 and 8 bear almost no resemblance to the heritage of the Evo. It's sad that Mitsubishi would make such a change in an already successful car. I don't see why they thought they needed to change it for the US market. Or for whatever reason they changed it. Oh well, nothing we can really do about it except piss and moan about it until we settle for what we can get.
