what sports car has been or have been the stars of their own movies yeah is the mitsubishi eclipse and evo8. and on the 3 fast and the furious movie you'll probably see a mitsubishi car been the star again. well come on lets be honest mitsubishis cars are nice like the 3000gt vr4 but if they dont bring back the turbo on this 4g eclipse its probably going to be really bad for racy teens who want back the old eclipse power.

so please mitsubishi engineers bring back the turbos and at least make with 400 hp....

can someone tell me if the 4g eclipse going to have a v12 engine thats what i heard .

if it looks like the concept on the drawing then beware all the supercars its going to have power ive had 4 eclipses in my life thats my favorite car but they have to bring back the turbo eclipse or else all the racing teens and adults are going to be mad

i heard mitsubishi is going to put a v12 engine on the new eclipse is that truth can someone tell me if it is

but yeah eclipses are nice and fast thats why they have their own movies

Yea I think that they are a sweet car, since my car is based off of a 1gen Eclipse *94 Talon*. Besides the GSX on Need for Speed Underground is twink.

Why would Mistubishi all of a sudden put a V12 in a Eclipse when the ones on the road have Inline 4's? That's really weird :reallyodd: Will it happen? 👎 Do you have any evidence supermangtz?

Monster7, didn't the 4WD Eclipse's have the 4G63 in the past?

Where did you hear about Eclipses being equipped with V12 engines? I don't think that's a good move because the Eclipse line is known for being the sport compact car with a punch. Simply putting a V12 in a Eclipse just does not fit the image of the past Eclipse's. Unless Mitsubishi just slaps the Eclipse name on a completely different car, well, that's still out of the norm

You forgot to mention other movies where cars were the stars: Gone in 60 Seconds, the original F & F, The Run, and probably The Italian Job.

i heard that mitsubishi wanted to put a v12 but hey on the original fast and furious the eclipse was better than the supra
oh and the 3000gt is way better than all the other cars and the rest of the movies yo said except the fastthefurious

Yes, the GST/GS turbo (fwd) also had it.

I figured if there were talks about a new turbocharged Eclipse, it's powerplant would be shared with the Evo to keep cost's down.

Not to mention, it's an amazing motor that has a pretty big cult following, so the word would already be on teh street.

How could Mitsubishi put a V12 into that little engine bay? Unless I'm missing out on something, my conscience tells me that something big can not fit into something small unless one gets bigger or the other gets smaller ...

I don't think Mitsubishi has ever made a V12 in my lifetime ......

Hell, I doubt Mitsubishi would even know HOW to make a V12, and it woul never fit in a Eclipse chasis. Life would be great if the eclipse went back to the 4G63 AWD. The 1G's are great! The 2G's were good but going down hill. And the 3G's... well, I have driven my dads 3.3l Dodge Caravan, and its just as fun

Not to be the smart ass that I am, but they are Lateral 4's. Mitsubishi has been using the 4G63 engines have been used in Talon/Eclipse/Lasers since 1989, practically unchanged except for the 6-Bolt's in 89-early 92. And followed by the 7-bolts from late 92 and on. The EVO's had a modefied 7-bolt that has corrected the hydraulic crank walk and uses stronger rods. I seriously, seriously doubt that Mitsubishi would consider using anything but the 4G63 in the 4G Eclipse IF THEY plan to use a turbocharged engine. As for a V12, you might have to go wash your bed sheets because that is just a wet dream.

My guess is either hallucinogenic drugs or being dropped at birth. Well there is always lead based paint...

Even if the universe turned inside out and mitubishi made V12's it would be 100,000 plus so what would be the point?

True, there goes another one of ShobThaBob's one liners. I dont see many eclipses at all in maryland guess no one here likes them.

mitsubishi would NEVER put a v12 in a damn eclipse.
you must be nuts for even saying it, EVEN IF IT IS A RUMOR, its like saying ferrari uses a kia v6 for the enzo...

Why is the first gen eclipse so great? A 'friend' of mine has one, a GSX. Tried to tell me it weighed 2,500lbs and could beat a stock mustang 2002 gt rofl. I told him it was 3095 and it lacked 65hp and 100ft/lbs torque and he went nuts and doesnt talk to me anymore rofls.

Thinking on it, I don't recall thatMitsubishi have ever done anything bigger than a V6. They showed a 4.7 litre V8 Pajero/Shogun/Montero this year, but in production I don't recall anything bigger than the ever increasing capacity V6s.

Lateral 4's go left to right, or right to left. But an Inline engine goes from the front to the back, such as the Supra and Skylines.

What I don't get is why all the Japanese, who make some of the best cars made, don't try to grab a old muscle engine and add a little zoom to it. I don't think it would be accepted at first but I think the more publicity it would get for being quick would make it a winner in the long run. The only downside to that, the "American Muscle" guys would be a little P***** off.:P

Put a full 3 inch exhaust (no cats) and a boost controller on that GSX, and your "stock mustang 2002 gt" would get BALLED ON.

Which is hilarious, considering I can buy a 1g GSX with the afore mentioned mods for under 5k.

How much will that Mustang cost?
