Mets Cubs is the NLCS match up beginning tomorrow night. Matt Harvey will face off against Jon Lester in game one. While Cub fans will thump their chest about sweeping the Mets in the regular season, this won't be that easy of a series.

1. The Mets did not have d'Arnaud, Cespedes, Wright, Conforto, Johnson, Reed or Clippard the last time they played the Cubs.
2. 4 of the 7 losses were by 1 run, meaning it was closer than the lopsided record.
3. The Mets are 21 games over .500 since their last loss to the Cubs. They hadn't played the Dodgers once before they finished their 7 games with the Cubs.

In short, it's a different team the Cubs will face starting Saturday Night. Arrieta, Bryant, Rizzo and Schwarber vs. Cespedes, deGrom, Harvey and Syndergaard.

Game 1 goes to New York. Harvey pitches 7.2 and allows 2 runs. Mets score 4 and will now head into the pitching duel tomorrow. Arrieta vs. Syndergaard for game 2.

The Mets have won game 2. Cubs offense seems to have gone into hibernation.
Man, you aren't kidding! As a Cubs fan, I will admit the Mets are the better team. I thought for sure going into this series it was going to be a fun thing to watch (for both fans). I didn't expect the Cubs to dominate the Mets but at least they would make it exciting, uggggggh!

Oh well, let's hope they can snap out of their "slump" and make this a series!

I think Murphy hit another HR.

Murph did indeed hit another HR.

Cubs fans were kind of loud during the Mets introductions with the "Lets go Cubs" chants. Then they were quieted pretty quickly.

Game 3 goes to the Mets. Murphy ties MLB record with 5th straight game with a HR. Mets can sweep away the Cubs tomorrow night. Tentative starters: Matz vs. Hammel.

Toronto defeats Kansas City in Game 5, the ALCS is now 3-2 KC.

NCLS Game 4 begins in 30 minutes. You gotta believe!

This saddens me as a Cubs fan:

I think we're done, sadly.

Hey, the way I look at it is we beat the Cards and got further than expected.....now get these young players the post season experience and hopefully the Cubs will become the team who dominates for many seasons....

...but the Mets kicked our butts!

And there is history. Daniel Murphy has hit his SIXTH HR in as many games, breaking the tie he had with Carlos Beltran. The Mets are about to sweep away Chicago, becoming the first team in MLB history to be swept by a team in the regular season and then sweep the same team in the postseason.

Mr. Murphy getting some real nice hits, no doubt. Congrats to him.

EDIT: Kris Bryant repeating what Daniel did. Great stuff.

Too little, too late possibly. It took the Cubs 35 innings to score more than 1 run in a single inning in this series.

I must admit... I was actually [kind of] pulling for the Cubs in this NLCS just so they can FINALLY have a chance to get over the long drought since their last championship. But at the same time, I also wanted the Mets to win the series in support of my good mate Blitz24. If I understand correctly, this is the Mets' first time in the World Series since the 2000 World Series, losing to the New York Yankees. It would have been a KC/NYM World Series, but Toronto's postseason lasts at least one more day with a win earlier on Wednesday thanks to a 7-1 beat down of the Kansas City Royals in Toronto. Game 6 of the ALCS is on Friday. KC leads the ALCS 3-2.

All congratulations to the Mets for making it to the World Series. They'll just be waiting patiently to see who their World Series opponent will be.

World Series is set. It's Mets vs Royals, Game 1 is 8pm Tuesday at Kaufmann Stadium.

May the better team win.

It's the Mets

I guess I'm partial to the Royals. I want to see Cueto do well (and Volquez to an extent). He carved out a hell of a career while in Cincy.

Yeah, I was going to say... we got time between now and the first World Series game this coming Tuesday. Any predictions? Who wins it all and (extra credit) in how many games?

If Royals can't get hits off the Mets Ace rotation, then they're doomed. If Royals can produce, then it's tough to say who has the advantage. Mets have been one of the better road teams this year as well.

Also an interesting note, the Mets are the first team to make it to the World Series after being ranked lowest in the MLB for runs on July 31st. Can contribute them making it this far on the trades they made... and the Nationals being terrible all season.
