Heres what I think is the first video from Infinity Ward on their next iteration of Modern Warfare, which was arguably one of the best games of all time.

The video doesnt show much, but at this early stage we really couldnt have expected much. What is odd though is the lack of Call of Duty name dropping in the video, as the article points out. Perhaps Infinity have broken ties with the Call of Duty franchise?

That's a great teaser, and honestly I hope your right about an IW break away. I get the feeling that IW are being held back, by 'the other' developer which may lead to confusion of the casual fans. None of my friends who loved COD4 even realised that COD5 was a different developer and didn't like 5 as much, they weren't interested in 6 after that. If IW stood independently but carried the Modern warfare title, I think it could benefit them greatly long term.

I would argue that COD4 is one of the best games I have ever played, and this is coming form a hardcore racing game enthusiast.

It was certainly one of the most balanced shooters ever made. I hope they can make a more involved story this time, because the multiplayer honestly needs no work IMO.

And blood! Give us blood this time!

I can't wait for MW2, it going to be a killer. 👍

Here is a link to the official website:

Modern Warefare 2

Using the scroll thing at the bottom and by zooming (either by using the zoom selection, or by clicking on the screen), see if you can find anything unusual.

I did, I saw a teddy bear!

Sad to admit that I already have a pre-order placed for MW2.

Can't wait. I just hope that the single player is as good as the first, but a bit longer this time (please IW) and that the MP is as much fun.

I wouldn't care if they even releaaed a game without SP at all. After all, I really do not see how I'm going to force myself to play SP when every second of SP will be second lost in MP.

:)

Hop fully I wont wait till Christmas to get it this time, getting a job now ASAP and will hopefully preorder it (thanks for the idea Scaff:tup:).

+1

I have not even finnished SP in COD4, MP is so more fun!!

The campaign mode was awesome though. I happened to get the game, just to see cool graphics on the PS3 I was buying, as I was not into FPS at all. But it ended up being the best game, and I didn't feel NBA 2k8 or GT5P even come close to the first Modern Warfare.

Having said that, campaign mode is nearly unplayable once you get that thing online.

This vid has already been posted in the CoD4 thread but it seemed appropriate to include it here as well (720p version avail at youtube):

Infinity Ward's eagerly anticipated follow up to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare hits retail shelves this November, but the sequel is being featured in the latest issue of Game Informer right now.

And that means highly coveted details on Modern Warfare 2 went from print to internet at lightning speeds. Game Informer subscribers and advanced recipients who already have the issue in hand have revealed information on the game, which is said to be set a few years after the events of Call of Duty 4. In Modern Warfare 2, players will tackle a Russian terrorist threat in icy locales—where snowmobiles in war makes sense.

But don't count on cooperative play during Modern Warfare 2's story mode. That multiplayer option looks to be limited to the game's "Special Forces" mode, which is described by Infinity Ward president Jason West as "in the spirit of [the] Mile High Club" mission from Call of Duty 4.

West also describes the gameplay in Modern Warfare 2 as "wide open and has a lot of variety." But expect a similarly linear story, one just a touch longer than that of its Infinity Ward-developed precursor, because West contends that "any good story is on rails."

For more details and some spectacular looking screen shots of the game in action, pick up the newest issue of Game Informer as soon as you see it.

Still searching for the scans.

Here’s what we know so far:

* No co-op in story mode, but separate missions reminiscent of CoD4’s Mile High Club include cooperative multiplayer.

* In the wintery bits of the game, snowmobiles will be used to escape attack, but it’s unclear whether players will be driving or shooting from the vehicles. Ice walls can also be climbed by alternating between the two triggers.

* A live-patching system will be implemented for online multiplayer, forgoing the need for a downloadable patch.

* Game will run at 60 frames-per-second, with better detail than CoD4.

* Riot shields, movable turrets and customized weapons for single-player enemies were mentioned.

* Gameplay’s a bit more open-ended than CoD4 but is still linear.

* Stealth can now be used if you like.

* Infinity Ward’s working on fixing enemy respawn issues (CoD4’s enemies would constantly respawn unless a player crossed a certain line).

* The single-player campaign will be longer than it was in CoD4.

Did they even read the article!?!?!?!?!

The article specifically states that the gameplay will be much more open ended, with many different paths and options to take to get to the same place.

The article also quotes Jason West for saying that he was comfortable with the length of Call of Duty 4, and is letting the story determine the length of the game. He never said that MW2 will be longer at all, instead hints at it being around the same length. I suggest you all read the actual article, as those bullet points don't quite do it justice.

In a few days Im going to preorder it and put 70 dollars out of I suppose 120 on the game.

I will preorder the collectors edition, apparently according to EBGames you get a hat and more.

IW are playing a demo of the game right now on the MS press conference, its a level called 'cliffhanger' in snowy Kazakhstan, your commanding officer is Captain MacTavish! ;) He finally has a voice!

EDIT - Just annouced 2 map packs will be released on xbox live first before other platforms.

Always Xbox...... never PS3 first, ah well we will get the packs some day. The two levels look awesome.

EDIT: Legendary...... how do you like snow when you've never seen it, all you have is dried land up there :P

And to think I heard somewhere that the PS3 was going to be the main console for this game. I thing I heard it on Gamefaqs.

In general, it is easier to design a game for PS3 and then port it, dumb it down, neuter it for the 360.
