Moments that induce controller related violence

I'm a relatively mature adult with no anger management or impulse control issues, so I don't throw controllers or break steering wheels.

That being said, my frustration level peaked pretty high after about the 50th time I ran the IB-10 race looking for gold or silver. By 100 or so though, I was in a totally Zen state and when I'd get DQ'd for barely brushing the white Countach in the first corner I didn't even have a reaction. :)

My actual controller breaking days were back on the nes and snes and etc i mean i went through quite a few controllers in my younger days, Now days i pretty much just curse loudly, and go take a walk. Breaking controllers is just too expensive in the long run and gluing them back together is just too unsightly.

Think the top gear challenges are the ones that want make me break stuff the all time most out of all the stuff in game like getting punted into a guardrail by the ai, or just missing medling in the vettle challenge, driving a slow bus around a race track and getting dqd if you so much as bump an ai car that does not even recognize your are on the track, and add the lotus race on comfort tires to the list and the tg challenges just make me want to hurl stuff around.

Everything else i can just curse loud and long at.

If I get mad I just wing the controller at my fiance. It saves me money on buying a new controller. Only bad part is the cops come to the house and look like it's my fault that she has Sony implanted on her forehead lol.

Doing like the wind in my 787B at indy about 10 seconds away from the AI cars and on the end off the last lap, and what happens... the controller runs out of battery and i lose so as a result I punched the **** out of it haha

After about 20 or so tries to get gold (and subsequently the Minolta) in "Like the Wind" at Indy with my Team Oreca Dodge Viper I managed to get my self into first at the start of the last lap. I was holding my lead pretty well until the last straight. On the straightaway some **** decides to spin me out as he must've felt I didn't deserve the win. I went from first to 6th with about 500 meters to go and the audio in my room went from racing sounds at high volumes to being all but entirely drowned out with an amount of swearing that would make a drill sergeant uncomfortable.

Fortunately I gave up after only 15 or so tries and about an hour and a half on that new seasonal challenge with the NASCAR cars at Nurburgring. An HOUR AND A HALF and I've never even seen the guy in 11th place. That challenge has got to be a joke or something.

I stopped throwing controllers after my Xbox360 controller fought back, the stupid battery compartment cracked & AA's went flying and bounced off of my flatscreen. I gasped ran and checked the screen, it was fine. After that frag mishap, I stick to my colorful vocabulary (calling the AI drivers GD C-suckers....etc).

Ripping around the ring in the NASCAR challenge, great first lap then for some reason my feet and hands decided not to do what my brain says on the second. Couldn't stay on the road rest of the 2nd lap.

I didn't break my wheel, or controller. I did the mature thing and got up, went over to my neighbors house, ran the doorbell, then proceeded to kick his cat. I felt much better after that.

Pausing the game in the middle of a right turn only to restart the race when i meant to press continue. Stupid DS3

Yeah I find it bad how PD have millions of pop up boxes saying are you sure you want to do this are you sure you want to do that yet theres no one for restarting a race, seems abit stupid 💡

1. Lvl 32 B-Spec Bob that I coached to a 3 lap lead in the Japan GT lvl 30 Endurance race with 60 laps to go. I then leave after I see that even at max blue zone he is comfortably 2-3 secs a lap faster than computer even when they are lapping in mid to moderately high red zone.

Then I come back with 20 laps to go to find Im down by 2 laps:ill::mad: :banghead: Then when I attempt to coach him to real them back in and he refuses to keep pace with the leaders after I got him to storm back to get behind them still 2 laps down. I wasted 5 1/2 hours for the computer to jip me out of a sure win. I dont know what Bob or the game did to cost me a 5 lap turn around but it infuriated me and I twisted the controller so hard in my hands I cracked it open. It got me back though as it pinched the hell out of my finger when it closed back a bit lol. It still works however. Ill have to gorilla glue it or buy a new one.

2. My demented, ignorant, deaf, dumb and blind, asinine, incompetent, imbecilic, despicable douche of a lvl 32 B-Spec driver that still cant remember turns from tracks he has raced on 100's of times:mad::mad::mad: Morons the lot of em.

3. Again my mensa candidate lvl 32 Bob pitted on the last lap of a 22 lap Daytona race when i had about a 5 sec lead with a few corners to go. Oh and on the way to losing the race on the last lap did I mention the fun we had trying to pass slower cars? On a wide straightaway? And when we passed them he would so politely hand them back the position by braking heavily for a turn that could be taken 20+ mph faster:mad::mad::mad::mad: I gotta say I really dont like what PD has done to B-Spec with the idiotic programing.

Basically everytime I play B-Spec I would have a post for this thread. I cant help but think some of the PD programer did this just to enjoy annoying the heck out of us lol. Threads like this must kill them with laughter.

Also getting disqualified from an event/lic test because the AI cars ram you when you have the driving line

^^^This:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

GT4, last Driving Mission I had left until 100% completion, I was using a Logitech wireless controller with 2 AA batteries. It was at Nurburgring Nordschleife, I missed winning it the last time by less than 0.1, but the next race I was ahead of my best time by over 3 seconds, last turn, the batteries die. For some reason there was a hammer in the room at the time, you can guess what happened to that controller. :D

That must have hurt :ouch::ouch::ouch::ouch:

Only time I broke a controller on purpose was (and a little off-topic) when I was playing extreme mode on Ferrari Challenge, and I could not win for the life of me. So I took my DS3, threw it at a trash bag, it ricocheted off, (how?) hit the wall, and busted the L/R buttons.

I still use it for GT5 to this very day. :D

These stories are hilarious! I've missed a few gold times by .001 seconds and after a marathon a while ago I got mad enough to twist my controller until it let out a little cracking noise but then I realized how much they cost and stopped!

I'm still much cooler than I was a few years ago. These days I just relax and enjoy being online and hearing other people on their mics sounding like they're about to unleash some controller related violence. I do kinda wish there were more money/exp up for grabs in the online races, I bet the drama would be crazy on there!!

GT5. Bringing you closer to the mental ward 1 Bob at a time.

This is one of my favorite threads now!! Sooo funny, yet sooo sad.

Back on topic:
As someone stated before, when you're doing a license test or special event, and the A.I. has a temporary (or permanent) case of Ray Charles (blindness), and proceeds to ram you from behind....(doesn't sound good at all, hehe). Therefore DQ'n you in the process. Or running you off the road and causing a DQ.

I just WISH that PD had made the lap battles and special event races like regular races, DQ'n you only if you YOURSELF go way off the road, or something of that nature. I have yet to get all the licenses STILL because of the A.I. On to B-spec--what the heck were they thinking when programming B-spec buddy. Sometimes he can be a genius. Other times he gets a little dee dee dee. Braking when he doesn't really have to (Daytona and many others), being afraid to overtake someone, losing or almost losing the lead when it should be friggin impossible to do so given the car he drives and how much it overpowers the competition's. Those are just a few among many of these moments. I could write an essay on GT5, hehe. The good and bad of course.

Luckily I've haven't broken anything. Though I'd hate to punch another hole in the wall like I did a couple of years ago.

I think anyone who breaks a controller over a videogame is seriously not fit for playing videogames. It's a game. It's meant to be enjoyable...and if a game drives you to vent frustration on an inanimate object then you are clearly missing the point of videogames. It's natural to get frustrated but please, if you are tempted to break a controller over a videogame then you need to reassess your priorities.

I know I sound like a douche in this post but come on folks, it's a game, and it's Christmas so if you find yourself getting frustrated, then maybe nip down to the kitchen and make yourselves a cup of tea and relax. Wasn't that nice? I've just saved you the cost of a controller and/or an expensive masonry bill. Merry Christmas!

Relax....not literally throwing anything or breaking controllers here. Personally, I laughed pretty hard, but I think the point is there can be some very frustrating events when you're trying your heart out to win a challenge.

S8 license test....... I still get angry when i think about the ****ing aston at the second corner.
HERE HERE!
The only time I ever hit my DFGT.
Not just the Aston though, continually being brushed on the side by AI cars kept DQing me.
This is why most of the time, I don't even play this game, all it does is irritate me unless I'm cruising by myself.

I need to get on with some of you for online races. I have only recently attempted to seriously race online and I get punted all the time, or lose to people cheating when said lobby is supposed to be muscle cars or something. I was cursing at the screen for a while, but I held back a bit later when family came over. Most people online infuriate me. Add me, RMOD-Dylan. Thanks, and hope to see some of you around.

I used to bite my Nintendo controller (controllers were much smaller and therefore infinitely more "bitable" back then).

With GT5 I haven't done anything too ape yet. I'm sure it's only a matter of time though.

One of the s-license tests. I think I was driving the AMG SLS, on nurburgring GP circuit, overtake all cars in one lap. Missed 1st place by .001

Didn't break any controllers but I did swear, very loudly, for some considerable length of time.

I've been inspired by a recent event in the game to add this thread here for everyone to post a moment (just one) that made you want to:

- toss your controller against the wall so hard it shatters
- throw your PS3 from the roof
- rip your steering wheel off and beat it against the ground till it breaks in half

Mine just happened (after 4 hours of being stuck on 2nd place in the NASCAR challenge) I decided to do the JGTC event which is pretty easy, so I get in my EPSON NSX and proceed to drop the whole pack by the end of lap 1. I then backed off, made it a leisurely drive hoping for a little excitement by the AI pushing me a bit. Well on Lap 10 the AI decided it would be a good time to try and pass me, and so they did with a pit maneuver putting me into the wall somewhere and into 12th place by far on the last freekin lap.

I have B-Spec bob doing some races now to give me a break and prevent my wheel from being smashed into a million pieces.

It was almost as fun as when the NASCAR guys pit maneuver you at Daytona all the time.

Whats yours?

yeah i know how you feel, did the nascar series this morning, skipped the grand valley race and got gold on the other three and i figured i would still win if i got gold on the last race in daytona, on the last race i'm in the lead for almost 10 laps, in the final lap the AI pit decided to hit and spin me, got me from 1st to 12th, the good thing is that i still win the championship :D

Exactly... no controllers were harmed in the writing of this post (well mine at least)

i tend to add alot of pressure on the handles(so much you can hear them creek) and i put alot of force on the X and □ buttons.

I busted my DS1, my DS2 controllers like this with older GT titles.
i may need anger management, lol

The special trophy on Arcade Mode with the Nissan GT-R at Nurburgring... I know the track pretty well and the second time I finished the lap I missed the trophy by 0.002, after seven and a half minutes that is a joke. I almost lost it but realized that if I can get that close after two tries, it will come eventually. I have not been back to try again.

While getting all golds in GT3, a controller lost the right analog stick calibration, it plain wore out. I saved that one for a moment of rage and sacrificed it on the driveway at an appropriate time.

I've broken a sixaxis when playing tekken (the game that can frustrate me the most) and I think 2 ps2 controllers. The sixaxis was thrown away in a moment of rage, and accidentally hit my right speaker so it broke. 👎
You gotta remember, it's not about wanting to break the controller, it's simply being so enraged at something that shouldn't happen, that you can't resist the urge to punch or break something - let off some steam (Bennet)
And seeing as you're playing a game, the thing you're gonna take out your anger on is the controller.
Of course it's about self control, but when you're feeling like the is taking a pis on you, again and again, you get frustrated - and sometimes enough is enough.
Throwing the controller as hard as you can into a wall... it makes you feel good. But only until you realize you're actually gonna have to pay for a new one.

It's not about priorities. It's about winning. When the game keeps failing you, keeps taking a **** on you, even though you're better than the damn AI you're playing against, you feel like beating the **** out of the damn POS that doesn't function properly.
That's how it feels.
Yes, games are meant to entertain you, but as interactive media, they can also frustrate you.
It's simply a personal thing. Some can't take the crap, other don't care enough to get angry about it.

The ones that care aren't into tea anyway. we drink coffee, and get even more exited. 👍

and please tell me someone got the arnold quote :)

GTR35 challenge - acceleration / braking in the wet...

NO JOKE, I am 0.002 secs away...

My GTR stopped something like 2-3 inches inside the area, it is so close I actually thought I had failed, but it came up as a pass - YAAAAAYYY, I thought, that's got to be gold....no, silver trophy...

I had previously attempted gold on this licenese something like 30-35 times..

What followed was verbally similiar to having ones testicles trapped in a meat grinder...

:(

British Lightweights Championships, Bob is in the lead by a good 5 seconds on the final lap, where he is struck from the side at the cross-over section by some car running so far behind. Bob spins out then proceeds to wait for 5 cars to pass him. grrr

I totally agree with what you say. I might be not eligible to be on these boards as I haven't played this stupid :) game for a long time now (and not planning to either) but I just decided to visit it and see what's going on in GT community.

Saw this thread and decided to see how unstable people are :)
Gosh, to actually throw controllers against walls is daft. I presume those are kids whose parents are actually paying for those things as they don't value something that costs money.

Like this guy said - it's just a game. Calm down and turn it off it you start flaming. I stopped playing it because I play games to have fun, not to "achieve" some bigger numbers on my screen. As soon as it turned into a chore (after I golded all licenses and races up to lvl 22) I started playing something that is fun. And I suggest you do the same. At least for a while :)

Don't get me wrong - I know that this thread is for fun but it's just I've always been baffled by people that break things over a video game. :)

And merry Christmas everyone!
