Moments that induce controller related violence

In the first Formula GT race, I'll work my way into 7th or so, then manage to slide off a corner. Then I'll work my way into 7th again, then slide off a corner.

Quite a bit of swearing is involved

Accidently hitting the PS3 XMB button while cornering makes me quite mad, i'm pretty angry by nature, but i've never thrown anything off the PS3... shh.

Trying to gold the second cone-slalom (with the FT-86), only to keep hitting the same cone (2nd last one) over and over and over again:banghead:

By the 37th attempt, my Sixaxis was creaking somewhat:mad:

Nevertheless, it survived (and snatched gold by 0.00 seconds):D

:bowdown:Allah. Enjoy Christmas you guys!

I totally agree with what you say. I might be not eligible to be on these boards as I haven't played this stupid :) game for a long time now (and not planning to either) but I just decided to visit it and see what's going on in GT community.

Saw this thread and decided to see how unstable people are :)
Gosh, to actually throw controllers against walls is daft. I presume those are kids whose parents are actually paying for those things as they don't value something that costs money.

Like this guy said - it's just a game. Calm down and turn it off it you start flaming. I stopped playing it because I play games to have fun, not to "achieve" some bigger numbers on my screen. As soon as it turned into a chore (after I golded all licenses and races up to lvl 22) I started playing something that is fun. And I suggest you do the same. At least for a while :)

Don't get me wrong - I know that this thread is for fun but it's just I've always been baffled by people that break things over a video game. :)

And merry Christmas everyone!

That's just nice. Stereotype everyone in this thread as being children. That's very accurate. . . NOT
Some people here (like me) actually have to pay for everything they break. I have broken things to my PS3 and had to fork out my own money to replace and/or fix em. Now, granted I can get very angry, but instead of throwing the DS3 around the room, I punch the center of the G27. That thing can take a BEATING.

Just because someone gets angry doesn't make em a kid, though.
I wish some people would understand this.💡

My B-spec driver. In most corners he floors it and spins out of the track and goes clueless for 5 secs. And the perfectionist driving lines. FFS, he comes from a corner and goes a bit off the perfect driving line, breaks and makes a steep turn to get to the line as quickly as possible. Result is that the driver uses all the long straights to fix the line and ends up at 12th place in no time.

Trying to get bronze on Vettel challenges. Being working on Suzuka right now, got too conservative in the chicane on Lap 2, ended up 0.010 off Bronze. I don't know how I managed to stay calm. Beat it soon after by 0.2

Using a controller BTW.

People are allowed to get angry... even at a video game. But thanks to you and your buddy for preaching a holier than thou attitude that because its a game you have no right to be angry or disappointed. We appreciate your candor, now go find another thread to crap on.

Mostly in A-spec, some expert and extreme race with the G27 pisses me off so much. some of the cars with over 800+ HP is just impossible to drive with a steering wheel IMO... especially the G27, the force feed back is too strong and sensitive, a small bump on the ring will send your cars flying and spinning like UFO. Not exactly easy to reverse with the G27, I started punching the wheel when AI behind me started to crash in me like mindless zombie cars. The AI in this game really need some work. At least update with a patch so AI will avoid crash into you when you are dead stop on a track.

The one which annoys me very very much, is when you're 6 minutes from finishing the 4 hours of tsukuba roadster race and then you get a phone call from a friend, come back 10 minutes later press x only by nature because that's what you do every time you press pause, you press x t continue .. But you then find that you're back on the starting grid with 11 other cars!! .. I was furious with my self, i didn't play gt5 for 2 days after that! ...

Dream car challenge last night. Three laps around the Nurburgring 24 hour course, in the rain, in an 800 hp car. Spent the whole time prayin' to god I wouldn't give it .001% too much throttle during a corner, which I did several times. Nose into a guardrail, back up, basically stuck in the sand, going 1 mph. Finally get back on the track - hammered by the AI cars going full throttle straight into me. Kind of hard to see them coming since I can only see straight ahead. Try to overtake someone - but I can't see a freakin' thing with my headlights in the water spray behind the other cars. Drove straight off the same corner all three laps because I absolutely could not see what was ahead of me. I was driving along the side of the road at one point to get better visibility. Some AI car rear-ended me at one point, sending me spinning off the track and dropping me from second to seventh. I think you could hear the swearing all the way to the neighbor's house.

AAAAAHHHHH!!! What a freakin' experience.

I never said everyone's a kid. I myself am 29 and I have punched my G27 a couple of times. But quick enough I realized that I paid far too much money for it just to get it smashed for nothing.

Didn't really intend to offend anyone. Just wanted to say that most of the people playing games nowadays are probably teenagers and these days they don't seem to be able to control themselves too well.

Regarding you my friend - to begin with I don't know what buddy are you talking about. Second, I never preached anything. These are discussion boards and I thought we were all allowed to express our opinions. All I said was that a game in general is not worth such deeds. You smash a controller, 10 minutes later you turn the game off and what are you left with? That's right - no controller. And what does that mean? That's right - that you or (in your case) your parents have to go out and spend £40 for a new one. Is that really worth it?

And no need to insult others when they didn't insult you. Learn to manage your anger.

P.S.
Funny how emotional some people can become because of someone else's post... :)

The Focus seasonal event is, I'm certain, going to cost me a 42 inch full LED television and a DS3 if I keep playing it. Last night my missus grabbed my arm just as it was about to throw

watching bob use tiny amount of brake for extensive amount of time before a corner, instead of just braking at the normal marker with normal levels of brake pressure

It's the whole concept of b-spec for me. Just watching him drive a single lap on any track makes me feel physically sick.

For the record I am older than you. Also for the record if you read any of my posts I never actually smashed any controller, steering wheel or anything else. This whole post is a reference to the frustrated feeling you get that makes you WANT to do such things, however cooler heads prevail. But thanks for assuming that because I made a tongue in cheek post about it that DS3's have a short life in my home.

I'm not angry, and you took the topic too literally. While yes some people here probably have smashed a controller, I would imagine its fewer than said. And even you yourself admitted to punching your G27, so you know EXACTLY the feeling I have described.

Oh so many moments. Like when I finish 0.001 seconds behind 1st place in the Nascar challenges (the one where you have to sit and wait for 1 minute before you get control) or when they pit manouvered me halfway in the Nascar championship on Daytona (last race) with no way to catch up since I was out of slipstream reach.

Or every time in misshift out of a tight corner onto a straight with my G25 in the heat of the moment, and I start roaring and frothing while trying to resist the temptation to rip the stick out of the shifter and eat it.

On a happy note, I can add that the PS3 controller, which is a non-dualshock from PS3 release, can take an amazing amount of beating. Over the last 3 years I have slammed it against the table in red hot fury so many times I would expect it to break every time but it still works perfectly.

I smashed my original sixaxis controller as me and my girlfriend were having an argument. L1 and R1 fell off the rest was fine but R1 would not stay in place and always fell off. This was not much fun while playing bad company 2 with R1 as the aim button. I have a new dualshock 3 and my 1 year old son has his own ps3 pad to play with as in the broken 1.

I've been inspired by a recent event in the game to add this thread here for everyone to post a moment (just one) that made you want to:

- toss your controller against the wall so hard it shatters
- throw your PS3 from the roof
- rip your steering wheel off and beat it against the ground till it breaks in half

Mine just happened (after 4 hours of being stuck on 2nd place in the NASCAR challenge) I decided to do the JGTC event which is pretty easy, so I get in my EPSON NSX and proceed to drop the whole pack by the end of lap 1. I then backed off, made it a leisurely drive hoping for a little excitement by the AI pushing me a bit. Well on Lap 10 the AI decided it would be a good time to try and pass me, and so they did with a pit maneuver putting me into the wall somewhere and into 12th place by far on the last freekin lap.

I have B-Spec bob doing some races now to give me a break and prevent my wheel from being smashed into a million pieces.

It was almost as fun as when the NASCAR guys pit maneuver you at Daytona all the time.

Whats yours?

I have not progressed to far in the game, but the only thing that really gets my blood boiling is the idiotic AI coding!

TGTT bronze. I've come SO close to getting first, by shooting past first and second in the last two corners (where the AIs go really slow), but EVERY SINGLE TIME I get DQ'd... for some reason...

ARG.

I used to throw controllers when i would get pissed at a game when i was younger back in the good ol days of n64 and PlayStation but i have learned that it doesnt really gain me anything except a broken 50 dollar controller.

it's better than finishing exactly 0.000 seconds behind. suffice to say the game doesnt give you the tie breaker

This!

This happened to me on the stupid NASCAR event where u have to hold the outside line:ouch:

It's small, but it still pissed me off.

I gave B-Spec Bob my racing mod. Civic for a certain race on Suzuka. He was leading the whole race. 7 laps later, on the final turn of the final lap, he gets passed by a Fiat... It pissed me off because even though I wasn't playing, it was still a solid waste of 20 minutes.

My experience was with Bob..
It was an hatch race i dont remenber the name, i gave bob the buggati veyron..
Bob was on the lead and then by stupidity he spins off and then starts hitting the wall REPEATEDLY!!!!:ouch:

Oh i didnt do anything to the controller.. Breaking the controller wouldnt help BOB stop being dumb!

Accidentally hitting the PS button on the last lap of a race

man it happens a lot of times.

Once during the historic cup while I was winning and the 2nd place car was scraping my rear. I turn the DF:GT my hand lightly skims the PS button and I crash!
