Had an amazing day with my wife and kids up at Glacier National Park today. We drove and hiked taking pictures along the way. There is so much to take pictures of so it's hard to stay focused (no pun intended). This was our first "real" day with the camera. I am really going to like it I think! :)

Like I didn't want to go to Glacier bad enough already... :grumpy:

Digging numbers 1, 4 and 20! Keep shooting! 👍

And welcome to the world of RAW. ;)

 We have a friend that used to live here that moved to Oregon. She got blasted with GNP pictures last night. I think she's driving over today.

Be sure to drop a line if you ever head out this way!

Yes, for sure! In the World of RAW, I will never go back. Seriously, yesterday made a believer out of me. Good thing I got that NAS hooked up to, at over 30mb an image instead of the 5mb I was used to, we will be going through HD space much faster. :)

NAS: and another one for backups!!!!! Losing your RAWs sucks bigtime. DAMHIK.

Right now all the images are getting loaded into my wife's computer that is getting backed up nightly to the NAS. I have been toying with the idea and just storing the RAW images on the NAS (Raid 5) and converting and working with the JPEG's locally. That would make the RAW's available to both of us form different machines. I do have another NAS box I built last year that I could use for just RAW backups that would be NAS to NAS, but thought RAID 5 would provide enough protection against drive failures. I could be persuaded otherwise. ;)

Drive failure is not the only way files get lost.

"I thought I was deleting the junk files from my email folder!!!!"

I keep my RAW files in two external drives, but the JPGs are what I keep on the main drive for my pictures folders, Internet posts, screen savers, whatever. Once I finish with the RAW files after shooting, I move them to the external drives and off of my main working internal drive.

(I saw a customer's NAS lose 3 of 4 drives in a thunderstorm this summer......)

OUCH! I have lost my image drive before and it is not fun. I have always backup it up, in fact I have multi backups that are archiving my images. I don't want to loose them again! :)

Nice pics, Pako! 👍 All great, but I think this is my fav:

I was in MT this past weekend too, but only in ugly ol' Helena, visiting my family. I've only been to Glacier once and it was so cold at the time we mostly just looked at the beauty from inside the car. :) Brrrrrrrr!

👍 awesome! Helena's not to far, only about 4 hours away. My wife has family there as well. I do like NW Montana better though. :)
