Motion Blur?

I noticed that after 1.02, motion blur in replays is entirely nonexistent, except in manually selected replays (the replay button, not the one that plays automatically after a race), and to even see motion blur you have to select interior views with cars, most of the other views don't have that motion blur.

Did that patch get rid of it? If so, why lol? Motion sickness or blah blah blah maybe, but maybe PD should just have a button to apply it or not apply it lol.

100% agree with you.. They should have left an option to enable it for those of us who liked it.. I'm extremely dissapointed they removed it.. I loved it and found it made replays very immersive and gave the game a real next gen look to it.. Infact I was hoping in a future patch they would give an option to use it while actually racing...

Often, PD either give you something or they don't. They don't think to add a slider value & give us the choice of having it on or off, & how strong we might want it. They've also forced on driver names above cars in online replays, something which is really annoying me.

Is it possible that the motion blur in replays is related to the motion blur issues some people have while doing the race? I never really bothered with replays so don't know if it is the same issue as the motion blur issue I experienced (most notably on Brand Hatch Start/Finish straight) but, if the 2 are related, then maybe they fixed the motion blur issue for in-game which removed the blur from replays? I could be completely wrong of course!!

My predictions (maybe):

1. The motion blur wasn't intentional, if you watch race replay (by pressing replay button after the race) you could see the motion blur is still there, but as soon as the race starts (in the replay) the motion blur is switched off (similar to GT5). from this I'm guessing they forgot to turn off in 1.01. so we can still see the motion blur effect in any in car viewing angle. But in 1.02 you could still see motion blur on the default view, where the camera pans across your car.

2. The motion blur was too much, compared to real life racing videos, it was unrealistic

From the above pictures, you can see that the blur was way too much

3. The motion blur effect uses too much processing power, thus lowering replay FPS by a lot

Hey I agree with you on maybe the blur was too much, maybe a slider would be useful, so maybe 50% blur, run it at 40-45 fps and I'd be fine.

For anyone that knows anything about optics, the motion blur was TERRIBLE. Like fake lens bokeh x 11tybillion. Any reduction in this is a step forward for sure.

I don't know about optics, but if the general consensus is positive, all right. You guys are much more educated in this field than yours so I give you guys the benefit of doubt lol. Thanks for the information

Gran turismo in general has far inferior replay options to many other racing games. Like GRID 2 for example. I've really been hoping for fast forward/ rewind, slow motion, and single lap or trimming for replays. Maybe even something that focuses on different cars randomly or groups of cars like a real race video would. I would probably spend hours just editing replays if it had all that.

The replay options for one thing I noticed in GT5 was it dramatically upscaled the resolution and the quality of the racing. It felt like you were watching AutoCross or something but in GT6, they've more or less just carried it over, they didn't expand on it. The GT series are dooming themselves to inferiority by doing this, just because something was okay in the last game, doesn't mean that aspect is the precedent for all your future games.

PD should build on precedents, not just leave it there and move along.
