Did anyone catch the Moto GP race at Mugello, Italy last Sunday?

Well, it was absolutely amazing. So exciting to watch - those guys have balls of steel. I wonder who would've won out of Rossi and Sete, had the rain not come down. What did you think of the 'shoot-out' format? The commentators were complaining about it, but I thought it was interesting - kind of like a penalty shoot-out in football.

Since starting to watch Moto GP last season on cable, I've become totally hooked. It's fast (210mph on the straights), it's exciting (multiple lead changes througout the race) and most of the riders are 'real characters' (compared to what we are shown of drivers in F1 and some other sports). Great stuff!

Roll on the next round!

I couldn't agree with u more,the race at Mugello was a real stunner. 👍

I actually believed that when the rain started,Valentino would struggle on the Yamaha. Was fantastic to see him take the win and keep the points situation close between Sete,Biaggi and himself.

Thought the shoot out format was quite good.and provided a stunning 6 lap race at the end.

Off to Sete's home grand prix this weekend(i think)which should provide another great race.

As for becoming hooked,i truly believe that MotoGP is THE most exciting motorsport venue on television, and i might add i am not a massive bike fan(have always been into cars personally)dont have a bike licensce or nowt.

Well, I've always been a four wheel fan too, but after watching MotoGP, I'm wondering if those car chaps are really worth their salaries!

I have to admit, I didn't think Rossi could do it. He knew he would struggle to keep the lead, so when it started raining he called it, thinking the race would end. When they came into the pits, Sete was seriously pissed off. But then they found out they had to do another 6 laps, and the look on Rossi's face left me rolling around on the floor.
But he still won!
Incredible!

But they knew they had to do the shootout, right? Surely they would've discussed that in the riders' briefing. Personally, at the time, I thought Rossi had it - he was always ahead of Sete on the line. Saying that though, I think Sete had something up his sleeve had it not rained. Who can say?

The Honda's had the power to get past Rossi before the start/finish line, but Sete only ever got past after that. So Rossi should've been ok for the win.

But all this shows that

1. They are all quite clearly mad
2. That bloke that fell off down the start/finish stright was an extremely lucky boy to still be alive
3. Rossi is quite clearly the best Moto GP rider out there, 'cos his bike is nowhere near as good as the rest of them.
