Wow. It's a good thing PD didn't have time to finish the game the way it was originally intended or all the angry GT players in here would have had to find another game to play. Everyone seems to forget that when the game was announced, it was going to have cars, bikes, scooters, truck racing etc. I'm assuming it was just too massive of an undertaking to do it in time, but obviously PD didn't think it was silly or impossible to have bikes in GT. My guess is they could be added quite easily. Whether or not the different types of vehicles would race together is another story.

Maybe there are different vehicle classes and the classes can't mix? That would solve it, so bring on the trucks... :)

That's right, i remember reading about that in the release info. So much so, that i looked it up,

Gran Turismo 5 May Get Bikes as DLC

http://news.softpedia.com/news/Gran-Turismo-5-May-Get-Bikes-as-DLC-162172.shtml

most notable is this quote,

"The environment we have right now allows us to drive motorcycles, but we need to get Gran Turismo 5 done first," Polyphony boss Kazunori Yamauchi revealed. "Once that's out of the way, if there's a strong demand for bikes, that's something we'd consider.

It appears that "the demand" is here...

I found this out months ago, and all I can here is, wow......... Based on here.

Do you want cars added to Tourist Trophy 2?
Yes that would be awesome. I hope they are TT2 exclusives. Then I will lol when all the car guys cry about not getting the cars, or even better they have to buy TT to get the cars.

The world will be mine. Lol, just kidding. I still want cars and bikes in the same game in some capacity. Someone is going to be upset no matter what, but we will all move on with our lives and still enjoy whatever Kaz comes up with next.

Demand? Not sure about that. Some want it, others don't.

Definition of 'Demand'
An economic principle that describes a consumer’s desire and willingness to pay a price for a specific good or service. Holding all other factors constant, the price of a good or service increases as its demand increases and vice versa.

I'd say a half of the people in this thread have demand for motorcycles in DLC, Thus, demand

The other half are demanding that there not introduced I suppose then.

PD can do what they want, when they want. Im not bothered.

They sure can, PD is holding all the cards. I'm not "demanding" :) that they release it tomorrow or anything. I would just like a decent motorcycle game, and from what we've seen in TT, we know PD could do a great game or DLC for GT5.

Its too hard to "drive" a bike with a gaming controller.
But i would love some MotoGP bikes ,preferably with Valentino Rossi back on his Yamaha

That is because you don't "drive" a bike, you ride a bike. And if you imagine the controller is leaning the bike instead of steering the bike it actually feels very natural.

Ok, so what turns the handle bars? Also you may not drive a bike but I've ridden in a car.

I think he is saying motion control to lean and stick to move handle bars.

Nobody remembers the wheel users any more, do they?

I use a wheel for driving. A wheel has it's place, but you wouldn't use your wheel to control Netflix.

There isn't a whole lot of bar turning when riding a bike. Basically lean the direction you want to go, and that's the direction you go. There is a little more that goes into it but that's the basics of handling a bike.

By the way, how many are aware that on real bikes one has to turn handlebars the opposite way to the direction one wants to go (countersteering) - and that actually they are only used to initiate the steering motion, which is mostly regulated by the amount of body lean?

By the way, I'm still under the idea that this would have no place in Gran Turismo, if PD actually want to make a simulation: it would have complex controls unless they dumb them down to the point it would become an arcade add-on (no matter how hard it is with a joypad - bike riding dynamics are complex, although on practice they aren't because semi-unconscious body reflexes are involved).

I don't know how they managed controls on Tourist Trophy but I feel I can safely bet they went for the semi-arcade path (as all other motorcycle games with joypad controls I'm aware of).

Cars and bikes have separate controls. They don't need separate games to accomplish that.

Control input for TT was quite good. And I am sure with a little improvement it could be great as part of the GT series.

I would hate to play a bike game with a wheel (tried that on tdu and it felt weird).

That is my whole point. Unless the new official wheel of GT5 has a handle bar attachment. And even so, your body position won't feel right.

It isn't just that. On a real motorcycles you don't use handlebars as you would with a wheel with a limited turning radius. Given the amount of analog inputs needed to properly simulate bike riding, a joypad (DS3/sixaxis) would be mandatory for them in GT5.

Separate games to make each of them properly.

I think that would be up to the developers and coding. I am quite confident PD has the skill and know how to make it work.

Much like all the different types of cars all handle different and have different physics (ie. Fwd, rwd, 4wd, and so on). It would be like adding another classification into that set of physics.

I think the people that don't want bikes, it is simply they don't want bikes, don't understand them, or worry that it takes focus an time away from the car side of things. I don't really think they worry about how to implement them properly, as I am sure that could be handled pretty straight forward.

In the end it is in PD's hands, they do what they feel is best. Same as to which console the next GT iteration will come out on.
