Motorcycles in GT5?

One time (talking about real life now), I was in the passenger seat of a car heading back home. While stopped at the lights, some dumb biker somehow managed to get their arm caught in the passenger side wing mirror. He split the glass in half and then zoomed off before we can even get to him.

Well, there are bikers who ride inconsiderately, sometimes causing an accident and then attack the other driver as if it's their fault, and they deserve to be hated.

What I meant was whether they get hate from car guys just because they like bikes.

I don't think that's the case generally. Bikers are mostly hated due to the fact that they try to push the bike as hard as possible. This can cause situations that for a non biker might seem very dangerous, and indeed in some cases they are. Viceversa cars are hated because they are much slower on a generic road, especially on a mountain pass, where a biker can get quite frustrated for having to wait the moment to overtake. In my opinion bikes should only be driven on a racetrack, and bikers who really want to go fast would agree with this conclusion.

They overtake on the straights, and slow you down on the corners. Used to get really annoyed in my first car with bikers overtaking shortly before a corner then slowing me in the corner, where i could carry a lot more speed through it, and having such a slow car then, momentum was everything, so losing that is very annoying.

Being a gt player gave you a good amount of advantage over those bikers
Seriously in my experience I' ve always found cars that were slowing me down, and probably those bikers you've encountered weren't so good at keeping a decent pace. I'm not saying you're not a good driver but a motorbike should be easily quicker than a car. That's where the hate against bikers come from in my opinion. On a twisty road with few stretches is easy to spot riders trying to overtake through corners, and many car drivers get scared due to these actions. At least that's what I've experienced so far...

My opinion is that hatred towards bikes in real life is because just about anyone can buy a bike. Even a really cheap and crappy bike is faster than most street cars. There are a lot of squids (for a definition look on just about any motorcycle forum) out there. There are people that ride inconsiderately, ride without caution, and give the other 90% of us out there a bad name. As a bike advocate this type of riding aggrivates me and is not condoned!

Conversly I think almost everyone that rides a bike knows someone that has had a misfortune on a bike caused by someone in a cage (car). I don't even ride a bike on the street anymore. I will do a couple track days a year and thats it. I see people doing too much dumb stuff everyday while driving.

But as far as in game I think the bike people just want a good bike sim that PD is more than capable of producing, I dont think there is any hatred towards car only guys. There may be some dissention towards their opinion, but in general I think we are all here because we enjoy GT. As far as the car guys go I think many really dont want bikes anywhere near their GT series because they feel threatened. Threatened that GT wont get the attention it deserves if bikes are in the game, threatened that they will have to interact with bikes, and threatened that they feel like they would have to master a skill that does not interest them.

There is so much opportunity to make GT a flipping powerhouse. PD could do so much good with that opportunity.

If PD implimented bikes in any way, it would be so easy for those opposed to turn their back on that aspect of the game! I know there are tons of people that do that currently with GT! No everyone loves B-spec, or Rally, or Nascars. But to raise heck against these aspects is ridiculous, because there are also people that do enjoy these certain aspects.

Or they could just make a Tourist Trophy 2 add-on. Or just make TT2. I would prefer a whole new game. Tourist Trophy was a excellent motorbike game from PD.

Tourist Trophy from PD felt right and so did SBK01 from Milestone. Other than that I agree that most others feel like crap.

I dont think having 2 bikes would hurt GT5, maybe the fastest production bike and a Dakar dirt bike (for rally tracks) I think so long as they introduce some fitting cars like the track day rockets, Ariel Atom, KTM Xbow, Radical SR3 etc it would make for some interesting encounters.

This is true also in my experience. I think it's just much more difficult to recreate the physics of a motorbike into a game, and the controllers are another big flaw that adds to that.

I don't even ride a bike on the street anymore. I will do a couple track days a year and thats it. I see people doing too much dumb stuff everyday while driving.

Couldn't agree more to this, in fact what I was saying some posts ago was exactly that. Serious riders that really want to push hard would do exactly that, taking their bike to a track. Trying to go fast on a public road is a waste of time because you would never achieve a decent pace and you wouldn't be really testing your skills.

Cars vs Bikes is the point, if youre worried about it not being clean racing.. then itll make you better by avoiding the cars while on your bike, or they could have an option to make bikes as "ghost cars" or have penalties, its really not a difficult concept. If you dont like bikes, then dont buy the DLC or whatever. I want to race a bike vs a car around suzuka or even just highway pulls on route 7. How could that not be fun?

and I know other games have bikes vs cars, but they are not simulators like GT. I want that authentic and real speed. For the last time I dont want TT2, I want BIKES VS CARS. If im riding a bike and I race a car on the track I know theres a possibility that the car will hit me, Im willing to take that chance (its a video game (they should make the most out of it))

and if GT5 isnt the game for Cars vs Bikes, thats fine. But I hope someday that PD will make the game. It would be one for the record books

@thatdude47 Holy three in a role? Anyways. I like the fact the cars went through the bikes to prevent collision and cheating. It'll be nice to have bikes in GT6 especially. Right now for GT5, PD should focus on adding more cars and tracks which most of them will appear in GT6, said by Kaz himself to IGN. I want hundreds of events and more tracks including the classic GT tracks with SSR11 and Complex String and the rest of the tracks that were held back for GT5. And free roam.

Firstly, apologies for the late reply.

I could care less if they added bikes to a new or existing GT game or made a standalone bike game, I would support it either way. I think it would be monumental to have the best car game and the best bike game all housed in one package.

The thing is, GT5 is not the best car game. There is still a lot of work to be done IMO, and being a car game to start with, I think improving the "car part" of GT5 should be one of the top priorities.

don't know about cutting their profits in half if they put it all in one game. Gotta figure they are going to steal sales from people that might have otherwise bought Forza or NFS or some other racing sim. I think if it's all in one tight package they are going to get a lot more exposure and a broader share of the market.

I was thinking that if PD sold GT5 and, let's call it TT2, separately, then PD can earn money from selling both games. If PD sold GT5 with bikes, then PD will be getting less money.

For the consumers, a bike DLC for GT5 will cost a lot less than an entire new game, if that makes sense.

This isn't the problem. The problem, as I see it, is that PD is spending time on things that should be low on their list of priorities. As I've said earlier, being a car game, PD should spend time on improving the "car part" of GT5 first.

I don't know if you played the original Tourist Trophy but you basically mostly controlled the rider, not just the bike (so you simulated 2 things simultaneously as opposed to 1 regarding cars).

There we're all kinds of default settings you could change beforehand (like knee-angle, seating position, etc.) and you could even specify the height and weight of the rider (which had a significant impact), and when on the move you could change the seating angle amongst other things.
There was a separate front and rear brake as well.

There was nothing arcade about it despite the simulation aspect of it obviously being less (strictly speaking) than with cars due to the nature of bikes, hence the word simulation (close or not, and they got pretty close considering those limitations), not replication.
Especially when you only use a controller like I do it was pretty convincing to an extend, it more importantly offered a lot of fun which most other bike-games so far failed to do as their physics engine don't even come close.

As far as the bicycle comment, I am sure you said that for dramatic effect. People act as is if it is so ludacris to use GT physics for motorcycles, who says it is not already coded in. Essentially Tourist Trophy was GT4. To combine the best car game and the best bike game in one package would be monumental!
