That's good. But...for future reference...probably the best place to stand isn't at the exit of a corner.

I've always said that. People would stand on the opposite side to get good shots. But it was only a matter of time before someone hopped that curb and wiped those people out. Luckily nobody was hurt badly. The kid who got hit just had a bruise on his arm.
 
I thought the human body could only sustain 10 Gs at most? That was pretty scary, saying he is lucky is an understatement.

Oh, we can take much more than that, but for much, much less time. As in a few milliseconds.

The average car crash can produce 80+ Gs.
 
Then why does brembo always make a big deal on their adverts during f1 races? They say 2.5 Gs in a corner is too much
 
Isn't it amazing that the carbon-fiber tub technology was inspired by the safety capsules from speed-boat racing and how that technology has worked so well to save lives...crazy crash, but who knows what would've happened without the tub.

Getting a constant 2.5Gs around a corner is too much. In a crash, we can take more than 80+Gs but only for a small amount of time - as in a few milliseconds as said by ParkourVeyron. If someone's taking more than 10Gs constantly (which is high) while taking a corner around a circuit, you'd be getting very tired and might pass out as you're taking the corner. You can see the difference now right? 2.5Gs and 10Gs around a corner while 80+Gs in a crash. ;)
 
This happened in last year's V8 Superstars at Spa Francorchamps. Why on earth the marshalls spraying the fire extinguisher on the car's body panel and bonnet is beyond me...

 
^Er, because thats where the fire is? What, do you expect them to go in with their hands and lift the bonnet open while its blazing so they can stick the fire extinguisher in? I don't see what they did wrong here.

They could've sprayed on the radiator, grille, under the wheel arch and under the car or any vents that have access to the engine and not every single one of them sprying on the car's body which only kills fire on the body, but not the source...
 
But if you watch the video, thats what appear to try to do, but its rather difficult to see through the smoke after the first marshall starts spraying. And as they can't see the car clearly, they tend to keep spraying back at the fire which appears on the top of the car as thats what they can immediately see.
 
I think I've been very harsh to the marshalls but yes I can surely understand that. Instead, the first marshall should've sprayed on the bonnet (where the space between the bonnet and windshield) as it can get to the source while the rest deal with the fire on the bottom of the car by spraying it from the bottom side of the car where the smoke isn't bad as the front and any fire that emerges from any part of the car from far rather than all spraying on the body panel. The marshalls must've been trained and they should know how to deal with a situation like that...
 


One person lost an eye in this accident, but the results would've been far worse if the catch fence had failed. :scared:


Damn. I saw a documentary (I think that's what it was) and it featured this wreck. They said if the fence failed and was completely destroyed then it would spell the end of NASCAR - to say it in a less gruesome way.

I never know that someone lost an eye.
 


Ifelt this video fit here, because when he set those last 2 laptimes, it was shock and awe, really. Every other driver saw that lap as unbeatable, and he went even faster on his final run.
 
Speaking of laptimes, better mention this which is always forgotten thanks to the events of the following day:


And on top of that, Hill was on a faster lap but got held up by Katayama in the final corner - an Arrows may well have been on pole that day.
