^Holy 🤬! And the door wouldn't open as well...

Yeah because the side was hit by another car but wow, the impact was crazy!

By the looks he could've steer the car but as he slammed on to the brake the car went straight and steerless. Lucky he get to escape in no time. That's really scary indeed. :scared:

I also love how he had to yank as hard as he could on the shifter to shift up...and kinda down, as well...that does not seem to be an easy car to shift...and while he's dealing with that, he comes around a corner to...HOLY CRAP! There's a car stopped in the middle of the road...WTF? Definitely a crazy start to a race.

That's crazy. Can't help but feel that he could have avoided that had he not panicked. Still, I suppose we all would act on instinct. Wonder what happened to the yellow car. If you look to the left of the car in front, you can see it on entry to the corner. I hope whoever was in the yellow car left their belt fastened.

With all the cars behind it, it was inevitable that someone would arrive unsighted and hit it eventually. Maybe if the car in front had made a drastic turn before then, the accident wouldn't have happened.

Watched it again and it reminded me of the Kieth Odor fatality somewhat. The OBC driver got hit driverside. Could all have been very nasty indeed.

Heart stopping stuff.

That BTCC crash above is mental, the car completely clears the advertising boardings. Wow.

I remember watching that.. absolute chaos!

Here's a good one:

Invisible flames and why race cars use visible gasoline, nowadays. CSI Miami had a episode featuring this pure methanol fuel.

I think its funny how he actually tried to steer the car away from the wall... Only with no wheels to turn it. I understand its the normal reaction, but still...

Invisible car fire?

WHUT?

Back in the day, Indy cars used pure methanol to fuel their cars, the problem with this is, methanol burns clear, so when something is on fire, you can't see it. This invisibility and accidents like the one if the video led Indy to require an additive be added to the pure methanol blend to make it visible. Pure methanol is still used in Indy Cars today, but notice, you've never seen an invisible flame like in the video.

It's like using propane without the additive to make it smell like rotten eggs. Without that smell, you wouldn't know it's there and bad stuff can happen...again, this was shown on a CSI: Miami episode.

Luckily methanol fuel burns at a much lower temperature, and it's infact harder to ignite than regular gasoline. So burns aren't as severe. But it can still be pretty nasty.

Heart stopping stuff.

That title is right! That pitstop was a disaster. I could've been faster by myself! :P

It's so strange!

My eyes keep telling me these guys have ants in their pants, when in reality they are being cooked by a flame.

2012 , Pomona , The Winternationals

Mike Austin doing some air time. He literally walked away from this.

WARNING: Dan Wheldon's car can clearly be seen with a tarp over it.

This is the scariest onboard I've ever seen in my life. :scared: :nervous: Will Power is extremely lucky he didn't suffer the same fate as Dan Wheldon.

Craig Lowndes Bathurst 2005. What are the odds?

Fast forward to 4.01.

Here's the in-car footage. Apologies, there is no sound.

There isn't a video related to this but has anyone ever heard of the kid who got killed during the 1931 Indy 500? On lap 162/200, defending champion Billy Arnold was leading, the axle of his car broke sending him flying over the guard rail at turn 4 and in the process one of the cars wheels broke off and flew outside the track perimeter. The wheel flew over the road next to the speedway and hit an 11 year old kid called Wilbur Brink who was playing in his garden opposite the track, he was briefly revived but the impact was fatal.

A pretty tragic and almost unbelievable story.

What makes me laugh is the silverstone lunitic was a priest

I think he got excommunicated after that.

Craig Lowndes Bathurst 2005

Now that is an OMG/WTF moment. That could have been deadly.

And here's a still from another angle;

I like how he's still steering the car
