Oh gosh, I think we've had a question about this before.

Wasn't there a driver who underwent a sex change operation? Their name escapes me though.

I don't know if this was ever mentioned, but Bernie Ecclestone has long been rumoured to have been involved in The Great Train Robbery.

He flatly denies this but admits that he did commission one of the silversmiths involved to make one of the Formula 1 trophies.

I wouldn't deduce immediately that Ecclestone was involved with the Actually Embarrassingly Bungled Train Robbery, but it is interesting that one of the silversmiths was an acquaintance. That's a genuine trivium I hadn't heard before.

Oh, it's Michelle Duff who was called Michael beforehand.

Ding ding ding!

Winner of 3 GPs, and finished 2nd to Phil Read in the 1965 250cc championship.

He also had a commanding lead during one of the Isle of Man races, but broke a chain in the final stages.

Met her at the motorcycle show a few years ago, despite looking frail at over 70 years old, she had an incredibly strong handshake.

Great knowledge there, @Bopop4!

Right, my turn and I'm continuing the Motorcycle theme.

Who was the last Italian 500cc/MotoGP World Champion before Valentino Rossi, what year did they win it in and on what manufacturer of Motorcycle?

:D

Hmm, going to try this without the internet.

It went Roberts, then Criville, and then Doohan for what seemed like ages.
Then all the Americans.

I want to say Ago riding an MV, because that's pretty much the only other Italian champion that I know of, and of course I'll guess it with the MV.

Not Ago I'm afraid, keep trying.

Never heard that one before. But F1 Race Director Charlie Whiting's brother, Nick Whiting was supposedly a 'grass' in the investigation into the Brinks-Mat robbery and was murdered for his troubles.

Without internet help I will risk Marco Luchinelli. I was a MOTOGP fan in the late 80's to early 90's and I remember an italian friend raving about Luca Cadalora and saying he would be the next Luchinelli (never saw that man race but the name, for some reason, remains in my memory to this day!

Very close, but Lucchinelli won it the year before this person.

Ok, looked it up ... I guess my italian friend was a Luchinelli fan for whatever reason so for him that was who Cadalora had to emulate.

Old gits and their failing memories ... :D

Yay for me.

What's the last time in MotoGP history that there were 4 first-time winners in 4 consecutive races in a single category?
