But they weren't using Sauber engines. For example, as one would write McLaren-Mercedes or Williams-Renault, you could theoretically write Ferrari-Ferrari and Toyota-Toyota.

But which team was the last non-manufacturer, privateer team to use their own engines?

Argh. Hmm... I'm tempted to say Footwork, but something tells me no.

Did Coloni try it? Life? Fairly sure they entered trying to show off their engines?

Reventlow Scarab.

Life did indeed use their own W12 (before switching to Judd power for two races) but another team did it more recently than them so @Dotini is also wide of the mark.

Coloni used Ford and... ahem, Subaru... power.

I was about to say Jaguar, but urr, some privateer that is. Also, it was just a Cossie, really.

Later than the early 90's? Hmm, I don't recall :/

Osella? They had access to Alfa-Romeo Turbocharged engines for some time back in the early-mid 1980's, but the results they had with them were so bad that FIAT got involved and ordered them to remove the Alfa badges and nameplates, which they did and instead put on "Osella" ones...

Nope. I said someone has done it more recently than Life. That is, someone did it after Life did in 1990.

Time flies. It's a clue.

Arrows with the A19 after they bought Hart Racing Engines in 1998.

Correct!

Arrows bought out perennial minnows Hart, of Toleman, Minardi and Jordan fame, in late 1997. In the words of Tom Walkinshaw;

Instead of wasting money leasing engines we will invest and build our own.

The A19 and A20 of 1998 and 1999 were Arrows cars with Arrows engines. It didn't work, and for 2000 Supertec-badged recycled Renault engines were used.

The last non-manufacturer to use their own engines, unless Red Bull decide to take a gamble.

Of all the cars to win Le Mans, what are the 3 highest car numbers to claim victory?

2 years ago:

The last driver to start races for three teams in one season.

Name / Year / Teams

My first thought was Roberto Moreno. When I checked, yep, 1991 he drove for Benetton, Jordan & Minardi.

Spot on.

Bonus trivium: Moreno actually drove four cars in 1991, because in addition to the Jordan 191 and Minardi M191, Benetton began the year with the B190B for the first two races, before the B191 came along.

However, I am one to strive for accuracy. This question was incorrect, an error on my part. The last driver to drive for three teams in one season was Johnny Herbert in 1994. Lotus from the beginning up until and including the Portuguese Grand Prix, then Ligier for round 14 at Jerez before joining Benetton in time for the Japanese and Australian Grands Prix.

Even the Moreno bonus trivium isn't unique. Herbert drove two different Loti (107C and 109) before the Ligier JS39B and Benetton B194.

I can only think of 5 but I know there have been more than that.
Keke Rosberg
Ronnie Peterson
Mika Hakkinen
Kimi Raikkonen
Valtteri Bottas

:banghead: Do you know what prompted me to think he was Finnish though - being in Hungary last year, and the Finns near us on the grid after the race had a giant flag with his initials and picture on it. A giant Sweddish flag it was too, now I actually remember it!!!!

Missing one.

Edit: allready said:
1. Leo Kinnunen
2. Keke Rosberg
3. JJ Lehto
4. Mika Hakkinen
5. Mika Salo
6. Kimi Raikonen
7. Heikki Kovalainen
8. Valteri Bottas
(Mikko Kozarowitzky isn't counted because he never drove in race)
