Just a thread to discuss this game in "Multiscreen Vs Large Single Screen" play modes, what it offers, how well it works and what bugs are involved with multiscreens etc.

Ideally to help determine the advantages of each and how each compare in the experience they bring both in gameplay and Autovista. Bottom line whats the best way to play/enjoy this game in a visual sense?
Is someone crazy enough to go for 5way screens?

People are welcome to post images of their setups and give feedback of their impressions or question those that can help.

3 projectors is the way to play, I don't like the borders of triple screens. Warpalizer FTW!

The time display for this site is a full hour behind.

I would have to say triple screen is probably the way to go for the most immersive experience but much more expensive than the 1 large TV route.

I'm running a projector with about 110" diag. screen. Within the space I have to work with its a lot harder for me to setup things like the Kinect and sitting back far enough with the playseat from the screen to have a clean picture. I imagine that a triple screen setup would be superior to one massive screen in that regards.

I tried forza 3 with two 40' screens and it was the most immersive experience I ever had with any driving game I played. It was very hard to go back to single screen gameplay after hours of playing.

I'd like the idea of 3x Projectors but bigger screens in multiscreen mean sitting further back. 24" - 27" displays should please most with a close F.O.V

I ain't had much time with FM4 yet but here's just a few shots...
Cockpit view with multiscreens is superb in FM4 and really enhances the sense of speed too.

The main difference with the 100+" screens is that the road and other cars seem life sized and driving under an overpass is an awesome feeling that a large TV can never recreate.

I sold my DLP projector way back in 2007 and gaming just isn't the same on my 42", so last week I ordered a 106" motorized screen on eBay which is on a UPS truck to me right now.

I'm waiting for the first price drop on the Optoma HD33 projector and then I'll pounce on that. It just came out in August and I've found there is a significant price drop after a few months on new projectors. It's still about the only FULL 3D projector with HDMI 1.4 for $1500 on the market.

The default FoV works quite well on my 2.39:1 setup. Most of the missing parts of the screen contain nothing of interest. A little tweaking and it would be perfect but the cropped HUD and low resolution puts me off using it.

Play all my PC games like it though.

Forza 4 suffers from the same issue as Forza 3 showing a VW Bora as a default car for additional screens/consoles that are not updated with Disc 2 or probably DLC content.

There is a way around the jetta screen bug. Download dlc to all 3 xboxes. Then when you want to play, log into live on left screen or right screen, start game. Wait till it's at the connecting screen. Then do the same for the other side, then the center. Each time I connect the next xbox to live it disconnects the one before it. Guess the game still thinks it's still on live since it was when the game started. That's what I've been doing to get the dlc cars on all screens. That jetta thing was bugging me, knew there had to be a way around it and that's what I tried and it worked. Give it a shot.

I have been using Kinect head tracking since launch. It is extremely effective and I no longer see a need for a multi-display set up; at least in my position.

With my screen size that is what I was hoping for. Sadly, kinect and the space I have to work with the sensor is placed too low and picks up to much ummm crap in my cramped space. BUT a huge screen is soooooo immersive. I need a job where I can afford a triple projector and curved screen setup!
Plus the buttkicker/tactile speakers of Mr Latte!

I posted this comparison using one of the earlier screenthots recently on another forum.

Vs Single Screen Experience

Currently in the process of moving my setup and will soon be installing a new 120" motorised screen with the Optoma 750GT projector. Shame this game isnt 3D really as Id of liked to enjoyed/experienced it that way too. However I will want to try Kinect with a big projection screen to see what it brings with the scale as others have mentioned.

Dont think Kinect will be supported in multiscreens as you cant alter your view within the cockpit like you can on a pad on single screen.

The disadvantage of even a single screen and Kinect no matter what size is that you will always only have a single screen width FOV.

I actually did try kinect with my multiscreen and the head tracking does work, I just don't have the room where my multiscreen is to make it work correctly. Only connected my kinect to the multiscreen setup for the achievement. Lol

So with Triple Screens, what you get is the headtracking area. Farthest right, and Farthest left, with the center screen being normal FOV? This would make Kinect a useless feature then on the headtracking right? Then I might try for triple screens. I need an Xbox wheel first though. Thinking on waiting for the CSR Elite.

Excellent, how much more did the Kinect allow for movement in multiscreens?
Their is the "Nyko" lense for Kinect for improving upclose performance.

To be honest, I really didn't give it an in depth testing. How I have my screens setup, the only place I could put the kinect was on top of my center screen. That is obviously way to close to be effective. Didn't even have the room to setup the kinect correctly on the 360. I will see if there is another place to setup the kinect and try again. I actually did have the nyko thing on and it was still kind of close.

Okay appreciate you going to the bother and maybe some photos.
Also would save me blowing £75 if it doesnt work that well.

Agree that with triple screens getting the angle for it to see over the monitors may be a problem and it at a good working distance/height.

Well I went to a local CEX exchange store in the UK and traded in a few movies etc against a Kinect.

The curiosity was just eating at me wanting to give this a try. :D

For standard Kinect setup I had to skip a lot of that on the dashboard/Kinect configuration. I have a seat approx 36" away from the centre monitor and as shown the Kinect perched on top.

I got it working pretty easily with good response within the Kinect Setup Screen available during a paused race. Great that they have it you can do this too rather than exit out of a game everytime. With a bit of tweaking it works really well. Does take a while to get used to but after the initial settling in time to adjust it is working great with multiscreens.

Kinect & Multiscreen Example:

Notice the race seat side head protection on the outer monitors.

The distance between the head protection and the centre monitor is a very close match to the amount of additional "Left & Right" additional movement available. It is approx 30% screen width.

Radical

Bentley

It works on all views too

Wow, just couldn't wait for me to try again? I thought I was bad. lol I think my problem with the kinect was I would adjust the angle in the dashboard but it wouldn't save it or something, so it was pointing at the top of my head. I'll have to try again and see if I can move it back farther and higher so it can see over the center screen.

Sorry for my impatience, hell Ive waited 2 years for this though and feel like a big kid on Christmas morning! :)

Let me know how you get on and I will check my settings next time I have a play.

Noticed that Bentley has a MAJOR graphical bug/glitch on the right hand screen when played in bonnet cam.

No doubt other cars will have some too, you noticed any others?

Haven't noticed any car bugs but one that bothers me is in 2 heat championships. If your first heat is at dusk and the second heat is afternoon, the side screens are still in time of day from the first heat during the second heat. At least for me it's that way, really annoying.

I have a 64" samsung 8000 series (which is awesome)that I was playing on. I went crazy and bought 3 42" screens. It is unbelievable. Best video game experience ever. Probably the coolest part about it is when drifting and say your turning right you look at your left screen down the road. Awesome.

Sounds great, maybe seen your video on Youtube? Well seen a setup resmebled that.

Any pics you want to share, whats been your favourite tracks or cars for immersion. I really havnt had a great deal of play yet.

I haven't posted any pics yet. I just completed the setup a week ago. I will try to post some pics or video. I really like the Burmese alps and suzuka, but I think they are all pretty good. The immersion it great, its like your in the car. If I could just afford a dbox I would never stop playing.
The cars I like are the ford gt500, bmw m3 and ferrari italia.
