By the way, I do have a plan in mind for a revision on how to calculate cumulatively while also including racers that have not been involved in all of the races. Without getting all the way into it, I would use how each racer performs as a percent of average, on a cumulative basis, as opposed to totaling actual times. That way a longer or shorter race, in time, would not carry more weight. And all racers could be included in the handicapping, whether or not they participate in every race.

Anyhow, if the system is implemented, I'll try to more clearly illustrate my means of calculation. 👍

I vote yes for the handicap system as it works well in the real life series I'm familiar with, albeit with weight, which is the British Touring Car Championship. In the end, the fastest drivers (not me!) will win, but it makes the challenge much more interesting 👍

I'm up for it as well.:)👍

I don't mind having a handicap system implemented although it would screw up the fastest lap point system, perhaps the fastest lap points could be based on on where you were in the handicap position for that lap,

ie more points for someone with negative HP and gradually go down. Would most likely have someone in 3rd-5th getting the quickest lap in a handicap system. Although I didn't see everyone's fastest laps and perhaps some people with +HP should get a chance for a fastest lap.

I ran Fuji a couple times, today and am submitting a time where I was around 29.0-29.3, 50.9-51.4, 1'25.2-1'25.7. I had AI at +10 and finished in 6th though, was tired of the 5th place car being a 330hp 1900kg car that kept passing me on the straights and then getting in my way on every turn, so I had the AI stay away from me.
Shame though the first time I tested the AI last week for a bit, I had the 5th place car at a point where if you ran perfect laps you could stay in his draft and get some really nice times, although I don't remember the lineup.

:indiff:...I dont like this track...

29.071
51.038
1'15.463
My 8th lap was the the fastes even though I was not drafting anyone
came in on 3rd place behind two S2000.

Yes for me

But i was wondering, what if i got a +2% then the next race i got a +1%, +2% or +3%, that new one would be added to the old, or each penalty is applied without being added to the last week???!!!! :odd:

I am planning to use all participating times from all racers on an ongoing basis to achieve the actual purpose of a handicap - balanced results. So we would not add the handicaps each week, and we would not reset them each week either.

I am considering handicap adjusting the times for the purpose of maintaining the proper handicap each week. In other words, if a driver is at -2%, I would use 98% of their time to calculate the handicap. If a driver has no power adjustment, I would use their true time. And if a driver gets +2% power, I would use 102% of their time. And so on.

That way, we could continue to make true adjustments based on performance, rather than basically having it reset every few weeks, in theory. Honestly, the first one will be really clean. And the ones after that, I think we'll have to see how the results are coming in to determine where to go. But that's what I'm considering. 👍

I've just finished my race, certainly wasn't a great race. I had three attempts, the first time difficulty was set to 7 and cars were getting in my way all over the place, and in a couple of avoiding maneuvers I went off track (more than two wheels) so decided to restart. The second attempt difficulty was set to 10, and I still had problems with a Mitsubishi 3000GT which was fast on the straights but awful on braking and in the corners so again I had a bit more off-track action and some contact which would have been a bit of a grey area, so I re-started again.

Finally got a clean race, but not a particularly quick one. My fastest lap (set on lap 8) was half a second off what I'd done in one of the previous attempts, and as with raz_10 above, done with no drafting.

Being followed by the irritating 3000GT:

I came 6th in the end, a few seconds behind the 3000GT and a good 20+ behind the winning car, a Skyline of some description.

@ RACECAR - apparently you need to clear some space in your PM inbox, it won't let me send my results!

RACECAR - Can you change the first post to have the PM's for results sent to me?

It will help me do the part I agreed to, plus, I signed up for premium when I knew I would be running a series and did not want to fight the 50 PM limit. A few less in your own box can't hurt. 👍

Deadline: Sunday, September 27th at 6:59p CDT (11:59GMT)

Sunday is the 28th

And this too, it look like. :dopey: The time is fine, equivalent to 5 pm PST, which is when I wanted to work on results. 👍

Sure, I can do that:tup:

I have another question. Driving off course more than 2 wheels.
All banned or some allowed?

Try and keep two wheels on the road at all times
examples considering inside of the corner:

example 1
own mistake, no benefit gained.
in control all the time.

example 2
caused by AI bumping at the rear of your car so ,
that the car becomes unstable.(and you have no way to regain control)
regain control after exiting grass.

these options I've been facing thru current race guite enought.

The rule stated is a general rule from GTMSA, which runs mostly long endurance events of about an hour.

I think we should have 2 wheels on track at all times.

Had my first crack at this tonight, and came up with an absolute beauty of a race with AI +7 field. There's a little AI contact, but as most folks are finding it's AI running into me, even when I'm doing my damnedest to get out of the friggin' way!!! :irked:

Not quite up to jmgyro's consistency, as there's a few laps ruined by backing out to avoid the AI, however, I did get a nice draft on the last 2 laps from the eventual winner (I finished 2nd by 1.181s) and got the following splits for my fastlap:

T1 28.711
T2 50.567
T3 1'14.815

See you folks at the finish line on Sunday!!! 👍

Just submitted my run. I found a decent AI field that allowed me to run in second and draft an S2000 for most of the race. The AI was -

Honda S2000 Type V '03
Opel Speedster Turbo '00
Subaru Legacy B4 3.0R '03
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution GSR '92
BMW Z4 '03

Splits from my fastest lap (Lap 10)
29.023
51.291
1:15.177

Ran mostly in the 1:15.5 range at T3 for the race. This was my fastest lap by about 0.8, I caught a nice draft of the Opel on the last lap to finish in 3rd.

2 Contacts, I bump into the back of the Honda entering the hairpin on I think lap 3. Very small touch that only gave the AI a little boost and if anything slowed down my time a bit.

Second contact was the Opel ramming into the back of me entering turn 1 on lap 9.

Once I got the right AI field, I enjoyed this more than I thought I might. Looking forard to next week. 👍

Times submitted, and the hp boost/penalty system sounds good to me.

EDIT - EDK, I just noticed your request to have the results sent to you (it's not in the topic post), so I'll forward them now.

I managed to pull it finally together and ended up with enought clean
run to submit. Total of 10 AI contacts in the race.

The AI was:
Ford RS200 '84
Ford FOCUS RS '02
Lexus GS300 '91
Toyota SUPRA 2.5GT Twin Turbo R '90
Chevrolet Corvette Coupe (C2) '63

I got a big draft from the Lexus trought the race
and especially at my fastest lap.

splits from fastest lap:
T1 29.076
T2 51.397
T3 1'15.350 (edited the one minute in :D)

Using the "Back To The Future" Delorean to hit T3 before T1, eh?
That's a cunning trick! :P
Hit 88mph on the run down through turn 6, snag 1.21 Gigawatts and lose 36s in the process!

I forgot to put this in the first post so everyone read this post Here.

heh, my mistake. edited in my time travel post

Racing the AI on a high speed circuit like this drives me crazy. I've got rammed and brake checked so many times.

I would of liked to submit a better time but I don't have the time to do any more races today

***Times Submitted***

Did what I could to stay with the cars in my race until near the end of the 8th lap where I slid out of the draft coming onto the main straightaway. Hopefully, I'll get a good result in the final race standings. :D

Deadline is in about 2 hours. I have submissions from -

CAMikaze
CyborgGT
EDK
homeforsummer
jmgyro
MadMax86
Marooned
nissantuner
RACECAR
Smallhorses

If you submitted to RACECAR and not me before the deadline, you will still be included in the results. If you read this before the deadline, please submit a time to me via PM.

Kevin

Results should be up momemtarily in post 2. Smallhorses has offered to edit them into RACECAR's post #2.

Congrats to Smallhorses, MadMax86 and jmgyro for the podiums.

Smallhorses has the fastest lap for the second straight week, and was awarded a bonus point for each week.

Smallhorses is the leader for the series, followed by jmgyro and yours truly. There is an advantage to showing up every week. :dopey:

I've developed a handicap sheet that will be included in the results post and posted with the week 3 event to let everyone know of their HP adjustment.

 to all for a great week!

All done! :D
Will be back in a bit with my replay file. 👍

Unbelievably close once again! Was 3rd by 3/10ths last week, and now 1st by just 4/10ths this week! :scared:

Great racing folks! Can't wait for week 3, although you'll all get a chance to run it a bit more than me since I'm off on vacation on Tuesday and won't be back until the following Monday. Will have to run what I can tomorrow night and make a very early submission! :indiff:

Special thanks again to EDK & RACECAR for making a great job of organising this, clarifying the rules & regulations and presenting the results in a timely fashion!

*EDIT* Here's the replay. Clean until lap 6 when the Skyline starts bumping me even though I'm doing my best to get out of the way! There's numerous times I move way off the optimum line to let him go or there'd have been more contact! Shame he wasn't so gracious as to return the favour! Lap 7 at turn 6 is a prime example, I'm way over to the left, pretty much as close to the edge of the track as I can possibly be without touching the grass to leave him room to pass, and he still grazes right down the length of my car! :ouch::dunce: Lap 9 is the fastest lap.
