Guys, I really don't know what to tell you man.
I'm an old guy that started playing Pole Position, remember this?

The progress in the dev world has been staggering with hardware/software.
I'm content with PC2, it's already given me $60 of entertainment.
I wish you luck on your bugs.
Those white lines at the side of the track are about as jaggedy as the ones I saw at Imola this morning. Seriously, the AA on PS4 is very badly implemented IMO. When I look to the apex I'm often distracted by it. Hope they work something out.

Well I was up until past 2.30am having waited for the download and quickly jumping into a quick race just to see how things were. My experience -

- The very whitish oversaturated opening video has not been fixed

- The graphics are still awful

- Damage sustained in a race still carries over to the replays, right from the start

-AI are still crashing into me as though its a demolition derby

I'm sure lots of issues have been addressed, but its not noticeable to me after just quickly dipping into it. It's still the ugliest game I own on the PS4 (I've recently upgraded to a Pro & a 4K HDR TV and that barely helps).

Are you sure you have ultra on? I have played on high all this time and thought like you that pc2 was nothing special gfx wise, but was pleased with the 120+ fps with my gtx970, but then yesterday I noticed that there is an ultra settings. Well it is not as if the game is suddenly a new one, but the difference especially when you notice how shiny and crisp it looks I must admit that I am blown away, but the fps toll is big, now I am at 70fps max.

And I tried out the AI yesterday for the first time, I was blown away how clean they were. but they are set at stock for now so maybe they are more ruthless at higher difficulties.

Could you imagine "buying" an SMS game that actually works as advertised. What a 🤬 concept that would be!:gtpflag:

The last game I bought that actually worked as advertised at launch, from any developer, was probably on the PS2. I accepted it as a way of life long ago and I'm no longer bothered by early bugs in games, it's not ideal but no amount of arguing/complaining is going to change it. :)

No downsampling ? I thought it was ?! Are you sure about that ?

I just assumed it wasn’t due to the jaggies. I thought I read somewhere on either this forum or the PC one where they’re looking at improvements for 1080p users on Pro.

I have taken some advice from a reply over on the official PCars 2 forums and have done a bit of work in my TV settings and am a lot happier with the way it looks now. I would definitely NOT describe it as ugly now. 2 is still not nearly as nice graphically as 1 though. Ian Bell has written on those forums that we can expect some fairly major (my interpretation of what he wrote) graphical improvements on PS4 in a nextish patch. I’m really looking forward to that and hope they can get it looking a lot better soon.
I have also tweaked my controller settings once more and am overjoyed with the handling now.
The ai are still bashing me all the time though, especially at the start of a race, so perhaps I should tone their aggression down. I would appreciate any advice from you guys regarding settings to avoid the demo derby that I am experiencing at the moment.
Overall though, since the patch and my tweaking TV and controller settings I am much happier with the game and have had an absolute blast playing single player practice mode. If I can just sort out the constant crashing into me by my ai opposition that would be fantastic and I could get on with some actual racing.

Where did you see that?

As CHEN255 said in his post above,

Ian Bell quoted this in regards to the graphics issues on PS4 ...

“You'll be surprised by the next'ish patch then. We've totally reworked how we render things with DOF and blur, improving AA greatly in many areas.”

Consoles had it coming.. I mean the hardware isn't that good to run games like PC2 with it's full potential. Let's face it.
Not really. It’s more a lack of Console QA than anything that has delivered PCARS2 to us in this condition. Patch 2.0 has been a big success and has improved the game greatly, and with more patches to follow over the ensuing months I am quite confident that SMS will fix things up to how they should have been at release.

my problem is with the industry in general as well. The people who buy the game at full price shouldn't feel like the beta testers. Whoever these QA people were should have played the game at least once on a standard PS4 before they decided to ship the game. It doesn't even feel like SMS put effort into making sure the standard PS4 release was stable before shipping it.

And we as gamers can stand up to that. Ignore all latest releases, instead only buy GOTY releases that contain the 1-year old game, all the DLC, a bunch of fixes and patches all for a wonderful 20-30 EUR.

So... why don’t we? I’ll speak for myself, in the case of PCARS 2 I have been looking forward to this game avidly since the media reveal in Feb 2017. I play it on both XBox One and PS4 Pro and even with the 1.03 Day One version this is for me personally the biggest immersion I have ever had in a racing game. Yes the resolution on that XBox One is lower, yes that PS4 Pro still has some issues with draw distances, yes I got frustrated with AI balance in career mode as well.
But the fact is that even with those issues this game is still a ton better than let’s say Forza 7 which brings absolutely nothing new to the table apart from being a 4K HDR tech demo for the X1X. That and the same old boring arcade gameplay from FM6 and FM5 all over again together with a retarded rag doll dancing idiotically next to your car and which you can dress up in 300+ different kiddie costumes. Suppose FM7 would be bug free (which it certainly isn’t) and that all promised content would be available from day one (which isn’t) then this game would still be the same old boring kiddie gameplay from its predecessor.

So yes for sure I will take PCARS 2 with the bugs and shortcomings over the supposedly picture perfect arcade games. I know the devs will fix those bugs and I know this might not all be dealth with in the first patch. The game is still WAY better than the competition, especially on consoles.

I was running AI aggression below 60% before and didn't have any issues with them. Tried 75% today and for the first time I got rammed at the race start. I would say, try aggression at 40-50-60-70% and see what happens. I'm pretty sure you'll have a better time and find the level that feels good for you. Just at lower setting they are more hesitant to pass, so it will be a balance.

Thanks, I’ll look into that.

I admire all of you guys! Racing is rather fast pace and require focus on whats happening around you all the time( at least in my case). You must be really good at it if you have enough time to admire every little detail in surroundings whilst racing...

It’s in the replays where the small details really make themselves known.

Had a much longer dabble with 2.0 now and it’s definitely better. Much better in fact. I actually have the option of saved setups this time and setting the cars to stable makes it vastly better.

Started my career again and even the ginettas are night and day. The FFB seems improved to me and more nuanced.

Only thing I’ve seen so far that is a bit amiss is the AI cars are twitchy with inputs. Just doesn’t look natural! Don’t get me started on rolling starts, they look comically bad!

1.0.3 is pre beta and this can thoroughly be put in the beta category now! :P

Took my 962 out again, loaded my Le Mans setup, it sent me out with ice tyres again. Back to the pits, loaded tune again, changed tyres, saved over existing, ice tyres yet again on car. Had to create new save and then choose my old tune to save over. Then it was fixed. So there's saved setup bugs still lurking around.

I find the game far from ugly. Sure it doesn't have the eye candy that FM7 has. IMO I won't sacrifice great physics for great eye candy.

After playing GT Sport I didn't find the actual gameplay to look that much different. GTS looks great in ads and the fancy things they put together in the menus and screen savers but the gameplay itself had both impressive and not so impressive moments. The biggest issue I have with the way GT looks is certain fantasy tracks look like arcade games. Tokyo highway made me feel like I was playing Tokyo Extreme all over again. There is another day time fantasy track I played (can't remember the name) where all of a sudden the colors looked way over saturated and looked like Ridge Racer. Also even on real tracks it lacked allot of detail in the pavement itself or at least it appears that way in motion. I find P Cars 2 is much more consistent across the board than GT and the track detail is better for sure. Let's not even get into the way it feels. GT feels like your driving on glass. Super buttery smooth track surface on the tracks I tried. Road surface comes to life on P Cars.

Driveclub is another game with amazing graphics that IMO surpasses PCars and GT easily in terms of gameplay graphics and if it only had HDR it might have surpassed FM7 as well.

All in all PCars 2 is still very solid in graphics. It just doesn't blow me away except for some of the alternate weather scenes. But the gameplay, content and physics is where this game kills the competition on consoles. Now with the AI difficulty fixed career mode is going to be a true joy to play.

I guess different people look for different things.

I, for one, am interested only in the gameplay, which is far superior IMO in PC2 than GTS.

I see all the posts about how bad the graphics are. PC2 graphics looks fine to me. If they improve I might notice it.

It's a racing game. I'm moving too fast to see the details on things.
If they could just smooth out the white painted lines I'd be a lot happier. Especially the lines that run across the width of the track, like the 2 leading up to the chicane at the end of Nurb GP. And the grid position lines down the start/finish straight. They flicker a lot. Trackside details I'm fine with, same with the car models, the trees not so much. Some tracks do seem worse than others though TBF.

Just curious, what kind of TV are you watching through? I'm sure there are bad lines that I'm not noticing. I have a 32" 720p from 8 years ago

42" plasma at 1080. I can lower the sharpness (which is less than half atm anyway) which helps a tad, but then things like Motec displays become a bit blurry. Also I sit about 2m away from it.

Anyway, I'm hoping that SMS will work some magic so I don't have anything to moan about in the near future.

I used to complaint when playing GT that even pole position had damage. Now in PC2 I'm very satisfied with the damage. I love racing online and seeing a car flip. I get a shameful joy from watching their fate. I've been flipped a few times. (It's really cool in VR).

Ahh, so they made the same amateur mistake 2 times in a row, failing to learn lessons from the first time they needed to patch USB keyboard support into the game. Thanks for clearing that up ;)
Well, in Project C.A.R.S 2 1.03 version there was already USB keyboard support but only for camera and vof settings.

That is why the 2.0 update patch notes said "USB keyboard compatibility improved" and not saying "USB keyboard support added".

So not an amateur mistake in my eyes.

BTW, complaining about USB keyboard support.... But How many more games apart from Pcars 1 & 2 features that support in driving games?

Fast answer = 0
