My first is going to be an '03 Saab 9-3 turbo! I am extremely grateful that my dad has a good taste and didn't get some cheap American sedan. (It was still made in sweeden in 03 thankfully :)) The only major problem with the car was the interior fan relay, something went wrong and the entire thing needed to be removed so I no longer have interior fans but our local mechanic can put in a toggle switch in a while. Fingers crossed that not many more electronic problems come up because I need this thing to at least last through college :scared: . Ill post some pictures soon :)

An '03 Saab 9-3 Turbo with possible electrical problems. And your second sentence was something about cheap American sedans. Hmm. Sounds like Swedish manufacturing isn't exactly a cut above Detroit.

This is already good for lulz.

First because Saab, second because you guys are trying to defend the crap that has come out of Detroit for ages by mentioning a flagship car that is known for it's lack of refinement.

Look at most of the cars from Detroit in 2003, and I'd say the Saab is a better bet for quality.

I find it funny that you're knocking Detroit when Saab is a General Motor's product which shared it's platform with the Chevy Malibu and Pontiac G6 in American and the Opel Vectra in Europe (which was also sold as a Saturn Aura). I'm not saying Detroit's vehicles were any good in 2003 (because most are indeed horrid) but Saab suffered from the same issues that most GM products did. You could also consider it a little Italian too since it also shared its platform with Fiat for the Croma.

And the only 2nd gen 9-3 not to be made in Sweden was the convertible, which I believe was made in Austria.

I'm not defending Detroit... I'm simply laughing at the horrible assembly line. Employees dropping screws, talking like they're uneducated, etc.

C'mon, stop bashing this poor guy's car. It sounds pretty nice for a first car, I would probably be happy with a 9-3 turbo when I go off to uni.

Maybe if he didn't start off by saying "cheap American sedan". Just a hunch.

Sorry to all of you for coming off as a complete ass when I said cheap American sedan, I failed horribly to mention that I was mainly talking about the interior and not so much the motor/drivetrain, I know that most of the same problems with American made GM cars have been shared with saabs but Im pretty sure mine hasn't had any of those major problems due to the fact that the turbo version of the 9-3 has forged internals (they're gactory forged and obviously not like custom forged internals) which I think has helped avoid a lot of the issues that I've heard of with the other American sedans like the Malibu and g6 (excluding the supercharged versions which I would assume have some degree of forged internals aswell). Only one electrical problem after nine years is not that frightening considering that the GM mechanic we went to originally to fix this said that most of the major electrical problems occur within six to seven years. After all it is my first car, its payed off, and at this point I'm just happy to have something decent looking that runs.
