How's it goin, GTP?
I've had this account for quite some time now and done nothing, so I think I'll introduce myself. My name is Joaquim and I'm an Australian (born) with a Portuguese background. My PSN is JOAQU1M, feel free to add me
I was introduced to the Gran Turismo series when I was a little kid; My dad and I played Gran Turismo 2 on the PS1. Good Times. When I got my PS2 it came bundled with Gran Turismo 3; it was a great game although I have to admit I was more interested in the more arcadey franchises like Need For Speed and Burnout. As the years passed, the franchises that I liked started getting ******, or I probably just grew out of it. (I'll blame EA, just as I'll blame Activision for CoD) On the PS3 I only had one racing game that I was really hooked on and that was Race Driver: Grid. Actually, anything by Codemasters was great . Currently, my other main gaming interests include the GTA series, Fallout 3/New Vegas and Battlefield 3 (Origin ID: G45P4R).
When I saw the trailers for Gran Turismo 5 I got hooked and couldn't wait for it to come out. That's when I came upon GTP; It had the latest news on the upcoming release, which I checked on a daily routine.
I have a Logitech G27 which I bought at the start of the year. Its on an old frame which used to be a PS1 cockpit which will suffice for now. I've had a moderate amount of practice with it and have started drifting with it, but I'm still a fair way to master it. I'm pretty satisfied with it but it just doesn't feel complete (the drifters know what I'm talking about ). The lack of handbrake leaves me with feinting and power over-ing being the only way to get some sideways action.
That's why I've decided to start a new project. I have bought a handbrake assembly which I pulled apart from a 2nd Generation Suzuki Swift (bargain for $12!) and I'm going to build a seperate handbrake controller that doesnt void the G27's warranty. Basically, the handbrake has a button switch for the handbrake light which pops up on the dash; I plan to wire that switch to a ZD ReMatch (google it) and the controller will connect via USB to the PS3. I plan on making a thread on this later on
I'm looking forward to being a bigger part of this community. By the way, if anyone has a stock Volvo 240 GLT Estate that they wanna trade for anything PM me
Cheers,
-Joaquim
