My obsession with the Nordschleife.

In absence of the KW 7-post Suspension rig we were supposed to hopefully have...

I've been using the first section of the Nordschleife (start/finish line to the T1 marker) as a stress-test section when 'installing' new tuning values for suspension setups, using actual KW V.III coil-over specs for various cars (so far, just my Supra & 300ZX)

Its proved to be a valuable testing ground, I can see why many manufacturers keep testing here, no weakness can hide for long in the green-hell

I have been obsessed with the Nurburgring since gt4! That's what i race 90 percent of the time im on gt6. Even though i "know" the track... I dont really know it still. Yeah I know when to brake but every turn affects the whole entire run. That's what makes it fun and challenging. i am still finding the perfect lines little by little.
The real challenge with nurburgring was when i started to turn off ABS for good. And also i turned off the SUGGESTIVE GEAR you know that red blinking thing? That made me brake early and i didn't realize i relied on that so much. And i felt like i did not know that track at all! Even with everything else. So once i got great and familiar with no abs and the gear light... I started to notice little details to use for braking points on the ring like graffiti or something lol. Then i had to adjust all my cars to have a brake bias set up higher in the front and more stiffer damping for the heavy braking and the hill in the beginning.
Its definitely the funnest track to drive on. Especially at night! You don't realize how skinny the track is lol.

It's a really hard corner to master IRL... I'm not a fan of seeing crash videos in the Ring, but somehow it's a way to learn where other failed.
I Haven't been on the track IRL, but there's definitely a place to make a major crash, looks really really bad on the video and I think were talking about mini, I'm just trying to imagine how it would be to slip that rear in same place going something like 200 km/h :scared: :scared: bye bye cruel world

I wonder what's hes speed on that same point, seems like in the game you only have to raise the throttle in most cars or drop a gear, seems like a whole different prospect here

You forgot the best* one:

*Scariest

Check out Ridox Replica Garage. He only tunes cars with real world suspension settings. He finds out exactly what they're using for a suspension system and he'll research exact spring rates and everything. You might find some usually information. When he posts a tune he also includes a notes section (usually) and you should find a lot of useful information in there too.

I just figured if you're looking for real world suspension information, there's a possibility Ridox has already found it and posted the information in his Garage. It's worth taking a look... Good luck!

Oh yes, me & Ridox are actually quite familiar, we were members of the same cruise-club back in GT5's Hybrid-days, he actually built a few for me at the beginning, helping fuel my obsession of Toyota Supras.

I do occasionally stop by his thread to see what's new, I just manage to keep myself occupied with my own projects, to the point I leave little time for testing the tunes of others, a habit I need to work on breaking

Thanks @super_gt for the video of the drifting Toyota Cressida, brought back some memories of that car. My dad owned a '77 Cressida 2.0lt Automatic that was in the family for 26 years, it was a Japanese import and was one of the first automatics in the country. Looking at that drifting video now makes me wish we never sold that car:banghead:. Been driving the Nurburgring in Gran Turismo since GT4, every lap is always an experience:tup:.

So I went ahead and created a "community" under the new online thing for the Nordschleife obsessed.
ID is 1004748. I don't pretend to own it or anything, just trying to organize it a bit.

Maybe this would be a good way to revive the racing club I tried implementing a few months back. How about it?

I'll join later today ;)

Edit: I can add the club to my favourites, but I can't join

I will look for the club tonight or tomorrow. One of the things that keeps me coming back to GT6 is driving around the Ring.

Edit: I tried to join but it said "upload failed"...?

So I dug up an old favourite of mine. This is Walter Röhrl driving a 1975 911 3.0 RS.

I just love the intake sound on this car - you can hear exactly what his right foot is doing all the time.
If you have a stereo, crank the volume to 11 and be amazed.

Sorry, I had to go out of town for work and can't really do anything on the PS3 until Monday, most likely.
It's probably some setting that I screwed up, but I'll sort it out once I'm back home.

Anyone took the new Subaru VGT to the Ring yet?

Yes, not bad, but my hopes were higher after completing the seasonal.
Sound is different, not bad.
Lights are not so good during rain at night.
Battery does go empty.

The sound is pretty cool, I enjoyed it during the seasonal, but it was just 2 laps and that was it.
I'm now obviously going to try to empty the battery once I'm back home....

In the first months of this year - while racing the Nürburg 24' races - you could see all pitcrews working (during pitstops). It was nice to look left and right and behind you to watch all the activity.
An update (don't remember which one) took the rear view away, but we got (until then absent) spray.
While entering the pits, you could see crews, once you passed them, they magically dissappeared and the garage doors closed.
On track the scenery in the mirror dissappeared too quickly, lights of others cars were gone too (at least when they were a certain distance behind).
The last update 1.14 now also removed the possibility to look left and right when in the pits.
What will be next ?

All of this maybe not very important, but still worth mentioning...
As is the fact that during the last lap, the headlights of your own car go on and off all the time, which is disturbing to me...
Is PS3 really too weak to leave all these things as they were ?

Probably they are just struggling to keep a steady amount of FPS... Or maybe they are random bugs. Who knows... It will be a real present to us if PD realize that a report of every single thing added, erased or touched in an update would be really appreciated.

BTW, while in an online race at Nordschleife, pre 1.14, the headlights only worked while braking, working only at the same time as the rear ones. Never happened again.
