It looks like a wicked computer absolutely but are you okay with that price or are you wanting to cut it down?

Also with the 7950 I'd go with a 670 or 680. The 670 beats out the 7950 and is comparable with the 7970 and then the 680 is above all of them at the moment. I'm not sure why you don't want Nvidia plus it you go with an EVGA card you've got warranty for life. Then again I have no brand of loyalty at all and I only buy things based on best performance.

Oh and I know it's just the storage drive but you might want to spend the extra little bit at this point in upgrading the 2tb to a non green 7200 rpm drive. It does make a difference. Green means we sacrificed performance to make it use a bit less power.

Oh and the power supply you might want to go with something more reputable than Silver Power. Corsair or Seasonic seem to have the best reputations and great warranties.

Thanks for your input. 👍

Im going to upgrade the graphics card later on, like 5-6 months after I get the PC.
I'll look into the non green 7200 rpm one, but I really don't need more then 1TB.
About the power supply i've no idea, but I think it'll do for me, until maybe I get 2 x 7970 in crossfire.

Is 850W enough though to run all of this?

850w should be fine and yes that one will do I'm just suggesting a more reputable brand because the power supply is arguably the most important part of the PC and it's something you really don't want to cause problems. Corsair and Seasonic (I believe are actually the same company) seem to be the ones that are the most popular and best reviewed consistently.

850w should still be enough even if you go up to crossfire 7870s. They barely use any power.

I also only said about the 2 TB since that what you have in your parts list.

Actually no, that PSU is a great option(a written review here) for what he wants. According to the written review it was made by Seasonic for Silverpower. You would be amazed by how many companies that don't make their own power supplies. The power supply will be able to power two HD 7870's.

Cool! :)

How about 2 x 7970?
I guess yes, but 1050-1200W is better???

Yes you can. Though you won't have room to overclock and if you want to do that then I recommend getting the 1000W Corsair unit. I should note that Win 7 Home Premium does not use more than 16GB of RAM so if you want more in the future you'll need Win 7 Professional.

Yeah, but I think that 16 GB RAM will be plenty for me.

Thanks for the review links. Good read. 👍

Oh you caught me

As for the hard drive, change it to "Seagate Barracuda® 2TB SATA 6Gb/s", you will save a bit of money and gain performance. I'd also change the SSD to "Intel® SSD 330 Series 120GB". Intel is known for their reliability in SSD's and the write speed is 450MB/s vs the slower 175MB/s the M4 gives you.

Yeah, but I don't need the 2 TB HDD, so if I can get off cheaper with a 1 TB HDD im going for that.

As for the SSD, thanks for the information.
Gonna run Windows and my main games from it. :)

Ahh well fair enough. Good choice then

I would've gone with a 3770K + Z77 motherboard personally, unlocked Ivy > locked SB-E and K-series Ivy + Z77 is cheaper than SB-E + X79. Additionally, for what you've picked out there is precisely zero benefit from going X79 as you didn't spec anything that Z77 can't do as well as X79 does besides the obvious LGA2011 processor - the only real difference between the two chipsets is that X79 supports quad-channel memory whereas Z77 does not (Z77 has a maximum memory limit of 32GB, X79 64GB). Z77 won't bottleneck multiple PCI-E 3.0 video cards either, and it sure as hell won't bottleneck a single card.

And why did you say absolutely no Nvidia cards? I found that kinda amusing considering you then state you want to crossfire 7970s - if you've ever had a Crossfire setup you should know just how terrible it is and how the drivers never work. Dual 7970s, 670s and 680s are massive overkill for anything under triple-monitor resolutions too, I run a single 1920x1080 display and my overclocked GTX 670 has absolutely no problem maxing games at 60fps on the proviso I don't crank up AA to stupid levels...

I too thought it was silly to get the 2011 board. Then again.. I don't see my name anywhere in this thread, so maybe that's why. I'd probably have gone the same route you said Sharky. There's almost no reason to go X79 now that Ivy Bridge is out, unless you were an LGA2011 early adopter..

Yeah, well to be honest I only picked the X79 due to alot of good reviews and feedback on it, and it wasn't to pricey either.

About the crossfire setup, i've learned alot from back then (completely noob at pc specs to now semi-noob at pc specs).
I think the 7970 will run most games (that I play) on highest settings with more then 60 FPS solid.
And why no Nvidia cards? Bad experience, thats all.

Thanks for the feedback. 👍

Also, what I should have mentioned, these parts came as a package, so I didn't have many options to choose from.
But anything that works will be better than my current laptop anyway. :sly:

It is very important for everyone to set a new desktop properly to get full functionalities in a better way. People should set their desktop with the help of a professional for achieving better performance.
Uhhh yeah, thanks for the tip, but i've already got my pc a month ago. :dopey:

Locking it, because I can. :sly:

Nice update. I think those two 780's look way better than that 7970 ever did. :D:tup:

Now get into the FFXIV Benchmark thread and stretch those puppies out a bit!

My cards at idle speed and temp. :D

And of course the #2 is a bit colder because #1 is blowing air down at it. ;)
