I just have a feeling that at E3 this year there going to show a video of GT5 with a clip at the end of a extremely detailed in-game car crash . I think it might be the fact that Polyphony haven't shown much to do with GT5 for some time now. ( and yes i know they brought out prologue but still)

This is the beginning of a beautiful thread..

beautiflul crash? haha maybe although I doubt it, beautiful crash is more of NFS likely. And, I mean, how many times PD misled us? Online for GT4 is one very painful moment, for instance.
I've watched some GT5 demonstration just now and the person commenting made me sick, too much fuss, ugly commercial bastards.

imagine if car crashes.. unlike NSF or other games when u hit something, you had to fix it by end of the race... it went automatically. but in GT5 when u hit something, you will need to go to garage and fix it.. and it will be expensive too... some body wortk, some tube working, engine maintnece.. buy new 4 sets of tires for next race.. fix up the transmission... and if you over do a singe turn and hit wall at 60MPH your done with the car.. either get a new race car of spend a million buks to fix it up again

now that will be too hard lol

yeah but, it'll add to more realism in a way, also make you think about how your driving more, rubbing bumpers and being heavy handed round corners etc, like the idea of damage that can put you out of a race, but also fixable after the race using credits that you have, interesting indeed

yes if it does happen, i dont think it will.. but if it does. the AI for some races needs to be TONED down a bit in order to make it bit easier for players like me..
and i bet if damage be in game and u got to pay for it.. say goodbye for the RESET BUTTON :*(

KY confirmed that there would be damage on race cars ages ago, as for other cars we don't know yet....

Im a bit annoyed at that because im not interested in race car damage..... I want the normal cars to be damaged like every other car game out at the moment but PD doesn't seem to have this ability! :grumpy:

you mean like in arcade racers? Only visible damage? Now I don't know about what others think, but this is kind of odd for a sim game, not serious at all and really not for KY which is said to be perfectionist. In Simbin's Race'07 cars have total damage system and you should be careful with them and it is known race cars are much more sturdy than normal cars. So you crash at 60mph with a normal road car and you're about finished. I'm not interested in damage, I'd rather vote for physics and more models. Luckly it's what I'll get at least. If there is no damage, it's ok for me.

I'll have to remind some of you how few PS2s would work with the Broadband Adaptor. Mine is on the good list, and it still wouldn't work with the BB Adaptor. Can you imagine the public relations disaster of Sony releasing a GT game which wouldn't work for millions of PS2s? And if they said, "Oh it will work fine... if you buy a new PS2." :P

The only other game like Gran Turismo I'm aware of is Forza, and as has been said previously, some street cars are more damageable than others. That kind of knuckling under to the manufacturers isn't a big deal to me, but I don't think Kaz-dono would put up with those conditions.

well two things

kaz said that the car models are made with individual parts so that he may include damage in the future ( i guess hes referring to all cars)

since damage will be used for racing cars in the game , sooner or later we will have to see a vid of proof of this and i think it will be at E3.
just a feeling

I do expect some surprises at E3 - heck, we've been surprised all along. Ferrari, 16 car races with glorious graphics, interior driver view, etc. Damage could well be one of them.

i hope they dont waste disc space or time with a livery editor. some basic exterior mods would be nice (less basic then gt4s options of course.) there are much more important things for PD to deal with, like AI and sound. it would be a disservice to the expectant to commit PD's resources to something that wont fix whats broken.

i would love it if u wrote your car off with a 60mph hit it would be unfixable (if thats a real word?) so u would have to buy a new one.......it would make for some very slow races in your $1000000CR Enzo!

I doubt that livery editor code will fill disc more than one car model. All those screams depreciating new features are just bizzare to me.

okay you may be right. but the time and resources is still a factor. id be all for new features if they didnt need to fix so much. time spent on livery editors means less time spent making sure the AI and your car both perform and sound the way they should. (or at least close to it.) i do like the idea of a livery editor but i would be hugely disappointed if i start up gt5 next year and its just a prettier gt4 with the ability to customize the looks of my car.

All Ive ever wanted was a livery editor and its been the real annoyance that Forza has such a great system. Its would make the games lifespan increase tremendously!

With Blu Ray its not going to take up a lot of space if Forza can fit it all on a Dual Layer DVD.

If that's how it worked our worries would be valid, but it isn't so they arn't.

PD isn't a team of 10 people who all do a bit of everything. There's over 150 people working for PD and they all have proper roles. The AI guys don't do the modelling, the modelling guys don't do the textures and drawing, the textures guys don't do the sound etc. Someone working on a livery editor will have nothing to do with the AI guys, it'd proably take no more than 2 people to work on for a month with the odd involvment of a coder to make sure it works how it should in the game environment. It's not going to be a resource hungry addition but it would add a huge layer of depth to the game. Especially if coupled customisable bodywork.

DIdn't anyone ever thoght that they PD (or manufactorers maybe) does not want livery editor?

Didn't anyone notice that GT series does not even have an option to paint your car after one purchased? And that all cars are coloured ONLY in official colours (with respectable names for each colour)? Didn't anyone thought it is deliberate?

Only "Dream Cars" class features non-existant liveries on race cars class. However, in GT4, Dream Cars class has almost dissapered in behalf of official liveried cars. Maybe there is a reason for it too, don't you think so?

Personaly, I have nothing against livey editor, but after some time I wass totaly pissed-off because I was the only one racing normal-colored car while being surrounded by naked chiks with spreaded legs and similar childlish painnts in FM2 online.

So, my vote goes to maybe having option for numbers on the doors (as seen in Tourist Trophy games and announced for GT series in some point) for some cars, and leave the option to create an manga-anime-childlish-porn all over F430 out of GT series. Forever.

I will not, and still not (even tho, yes its been mentioned in PR interviews) that "manufacturers" do not want Car Damage or Custom Liveries for GT...

I'm really sorry, but there is absolutely no logic in this. Every [other] games do it... and lets be honest about it; yes GT5's models are very realistic... but Forza2's models are ****ing good looking as well. They ain't perfect, but i'll be damned if a "manufacturer" doesn't see a freakin' resemblance... now FM2 sports Car Damage and Liveries. end of ****ing story there.

If PD's excuse is that manufacturers are not willing to see their cars in scrapped metal... in reality its because they can't do it, their engine can't support it or they are not satisfied with the level of "realism" of the car crashes... I suppose its better to "put the blame" on something else instead of admitting to a weakness in [x], but i will never ever believe that its because of legal reasons - EVERY OTHER BLOODY GAMES DOES IT. <-PERIOD.

One last thing... Technically speaking... Car Damage AND custom liveries should be considered Gameplay elements in the game. Although the purpose of GT is to "drive", having Car Damage further enhance the game experience, making it a gameplay element. Liveries is purely aesthetic, but judging from FM2, the whole idea of "painting" your car becomes a game in itself... just like some people enjoy walking around their virtual garages in PGR3/4. It becomes a gameplay element of the game.

bloody hell, sorry for the rant.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean we can't think that it would be great if it was included. Personally I spent as much time recreating some of the best race cars liveries in Forza 2 as I did racing. But if they didn't want to include it, it begs the question why have it listed as something they are looking into implementing on the GT5 potential features list? There's no reason they would have otherwise.

I think if included, then it's likely that Forza will have been the deciding factor considering how succesfull a feature it is in that game and there are some amazing looking cars I've seen as well as crap. Bottom line, if you don;t want to use it don't use it. If you don't want to be driving ranomly painted cars around then organise races where your racing with friends. If your having problems with porn on other peoples cars, report them. If PD create a decent enough online infrastructure with decent moderation then being able to express yourself by not only your cars performance and driving but by it's looks as well is a big plus imo. You don't have to use such a feature, but it's a no braininer that it should be in imo. There's no big negative in production costs, production times or memory limitations that I can think of.

bloody hell.. calm down people.. make it or not.. i rather have better racing simulation then better paint simulation..

exactly. if PD comes out with a release date and a few months before that date they look at gt5 and say "its done" then they can add all this stuff, like the livery editor.

but honestly how many of you would be completely excited if gt5 was just a prettier gt4 with a livery editor? with all the complaints of the AI and improper handling characteristics and terrible sounds, a livery editor would make your complaints go away?

Prediciton indeed. I just see a beautifully done CGI render as usual with some jpop music playing. Then some people will get to try the game out and we'll then witness the online play is incomplete and will be left out of the final version, or be included and be absolute crap.

Online in GT6 confirmed :D LOL, I like how you think :D But on the serious side, online works pretty well at this point, only thing it needs is the option to make private races. And if we do not get it with Prologue, we'll get it with GT5 99,9%.

And you're basing this predicition on what? Previous videos? You work at PD? ESP?
