Nice. I really wish i had somthing like that. For now, im just mounting my DFP on the coffe table in front of my living room tv. Its got tiled floor, but the pedals dont grip, so i just put a BUNCH of shoes and textbooks in front of the pedals to stop them from sliding forward:)

For a Hotel front desk clerk you've done a great job there Lyle Beach! ;) But unfortunately i personally never tried a DFP, so before i start thinking of builting such a cockpit i will have to make sure i really like the feeling of playing with a wheel.

But again, that is a "Two thumbs up!"

Mine's very similar, but each side (including the part that goes up to the wheel) is one piece of wood. We're thinking of reusing the wood and doing something more lightweight, like what you've got.

Actually we've currently got two, one painted like a Shelby GT-H, the other like a NISMO S-Tune.

This has got to be one of the best home-built cockpits I've seen in a long while.

1. Inexpensive - more cash left over for other stuff
1. It's simple - easy to build with basic tools
2. It's adaptable - can accomodate different wheels and pedals as they become available
3. Great seat - I'm into endurance races and a comfortable seat is very important
4. Looks good - black frame and sleek seat, great combo

Excellent job there Lyle 👍

Great thread. Very simple design. Decided to try it out myself. Of course I had to do my own custom adjustment. Not too bad and very cheap to make. I already had all the wood and got the Honda Civic seat for free. Just needed to get the screws and borrow a drill from someone.
I plan to paint it black later when I get back from vacation. I'm really happy with it so far.

Anyone tried making this cockpit with an attached monitor? I've got a spare 22" LCD that i want to attach, but I'm not sure how to mount it securely.

This design is great.

I've started building one, not going to have a car seat but will be very similar.

Cheers for the idea.

Mike

Just finished it
Took about 5 hours, and best totally free.
Also put some speakers in the chair, involved some wire lengthening but well worth it.

The Setup is:
Playseat Alcantara, with a added Black Table (Wood plate)
Logitech DF-GT
PS3 Slim 250GB + 200Gb USB Extern .
logitech PS3 broadcast keyboard "Cordless MediaBoard"
Phillips 5.1 Dolby Surround system ( Full Size SUb under the Seat, Works like a Charm and Fits right in)
Sony 40" B.R.A.V.I.A 100hz
Sony 32" B.R.A.V.I.A.
PSP-Go + GT5 (I'm waiting on a Av-Cable from US)
Hardcore Gaming PC. ( Richard Burns Rally/Race On - GTR-E /RTR/Rfactor.
And a KONIG USB Switch for using the Wheel on both Setups.
Samsung 19" Monitor ( Pc running down left, so I can be on both systems)

Audiofix Dolby surround headset with FFB ( ORSM!!) But Only USB
I haven't figured out yet, how to get the Audio from the PS3 out through The headset yet, even though all Audio is going through the PC before the Audio system. But then I have Music playing/skype voice chat from the PC when Racing on the PS3, and I can just swap between PC en PS3 on the monitor - so yes it almost Works, but isn't finished yet, I'm going for Technique shouldn't look trashy in the living room, and to many Wires makes Trashy look hehe, so I'm going for in the Closet, and wires place with discretion .. And wow Nerdyness is Fun and creative :D

A PlayTv Uhh Ya It's Orsm, if you can use it, Just got mine today, but In DK -TDC Cable uses different Format then playtv. So I will try with an External Digital Antenna, to see if I can Capture some foreign Channels ;) But I'ts amazing that I can take my PSP-Go with me to ex: Norway, and just use a wireless spot, and then i can via the internet get in contact with my PS3, and also via the PS3 to use from my Mediaserver in my Home, because of PMS andremote PC use, and then we can see some Danish Public Television channels via remote from DK Just Orsm..

I'm planing to be able to record Life races from my screen via Camera ?, and i have the Idea, But It needs more attention, so maybe on later update of the setup :dunce:

Last:
Sparco Pit Gloves ( Amazing Buy, it's a very cool feature for Home racing )
Sparco Gocart Shoes ( same as above - It works, and they aren't heavy or to warm to were..

And A very important tool for the Future :) The PS3 Eye Cam.
(GT5's Full head movement support, for in car head Cam (Any where cam?)
And it does work with >PC< if using the right drivers, mine doesn't work properly ? there is No Skype video capture activity, but is working in the test Capture exe. weird Hm
