My thoughts exactly. Kind of get the impression a lot of people ask for things without fully thinking things through.

You should read again my comments.
BTW imho all series should force what ever is used in real life period.TC and ABS in GT3 cars.ABS only in case of GTE cars.No ABS/TC in case of F1 cars -examples-.

So presumably using this logic then if you don't have a steering wheel like the real version you cannot drive the car using just a controller ?

The controler used is not the same thing with aids within the game/software.
Not all people want/or are able to buy a wheel or the best wheel around. That has nothing to do with RL rules or aids forced into the game.

but using a wheel over a controller would give people an advantage as it's easier to control the car without aids so surely if the idea is making everything the same for everyone then using your logic everyone would need to have the same control method surely?

Point me to any of my posts here that say that the aim is to make everything the same for everyone.
One fellow member posted that TC is for noobs but ABS is fine.My point was that if TC is for noobs, then ABS is also for noobs and if the idea is to make Sport mode an "no noob land" then it would be better to leave all aids out of that mode.

Again read my posts and see what I've written.

My gripe is my go to cars that I honed my skills in handling no longer handle the same way. For the record these weren't the bandwagon cars. Just cars I got really comfy. Changing the way they handle doesn't sit well with me.

and if you read mine you will notice i actually replied to someone else and was talking generically that if you take aids away the safety in online racing suffers.

I welcome more lateral grip people must know that 90 ℅ of people use ds4's and simply can't invest in a costly wheel. The racing game genre really is in the the sales toilet and can not afford to alienate the masses.

Other games have the option to choose lobbies also filtering controller/wheel.
I don’t think is a difficult option to implement if necessary.

How about no aids at all in Sports mode?No TC,no ABS no nothing.Anyone who use real life aids is a "noob".
Lets see how people would not only accelatete (no TC) but also going to hit their brakes without locking up.I bet alot of noobs using ABS cannot do that and make the corners the way they do now.

lets force all aids off, cones off, cockpit view, full damage, no ghosting, and no HUD, make it real fun (not being sarcastic).

funny you mention cones off, I like how late in a race after the cones have been knocked away "some" players really loose pace... I've gained a few positions by simply knowing the "physical" markers and being able to stay on pace...
Not saying I'm "all that", or, even fast really, just that knowing the track without such aides is an asset to have.

Lets alienate 75% of the game user base to appease the elitist minority. Good idea.

Forcing driving view and no aides is silly. I can understand forcing the Stability Management and Countersteer assist to off. But anything more splits the player base up way too much.

I would be in for that.Funny fact:
I few days ago I created a lobby with no ABS,TC or other aids, full damage, fuel consomption/tire wear at Panorama. Not even one guy to try and make a lap.People were coming and going without doing a single lap at practice.

why is it silly? If you were actually on a race track, wouldn't that be the view you have? i can understand keeping ABS/TCS on for some people but cones are a trainer that people should grow out of, turning off the HUD will add to the "fun" since all you have is what's on your dash. no bright shift lights flashing, no gap splits, no maps, it would be so fun lol (im not an elitist who really thinks this should be implemented in sport mode, I was just saying it would be real fun)

I’d be fine with no cones, time splits, maps, or shift indicator.
That could be fun.

The cockpit view, unless you’re using VR or triple screens, is a very poor representation of what you can and can’t see while driving in a car.

It's not too bad if you zoom it in as far as you can and then make sure you map the buttons to look left and right yourself.

There's nothing elitist about expressing a personal preference and saying it would be fun. Elitism would be saying the game should only be played one way, the hardest way, and every other way is wrong.

Saying it would be fun is one thing. Saying it should be forced.....

The only thing I really dislike post 1.06 is the brakes. Some cars are fine, but others I race often just will not stop and I have to be too cautious with them, so I don't drive them any more.

I think I love the fact that I can get a race car to stick on a turn at 40-50mph without babying it, even with TCS up to 3, is an improvement. Many of the cars I ran with before 1.06 would spin at the slightest tap of a throttle.

Except in a real track you can turn your head instead of having a locked forward view. The cockpit view just doesn't compare to a real car. Even in VR or a multi monitor setup. So much happens with your peripheral vision from mirrors to shift lights that you can't quite replicate in a game yet.

Some tracks have cones even during a race. I find them more distracting than anything else and wish they'd remove them in real life.

I've driven cars with shift lights and split times. If you're looking "real fun" shift lights and split times would be a part of that.

I've also seen track maps taped to steering wheels.

In my opinion I think PD doesnt care if a race is too difficult for some people. Remember the endurance races in GT3 n 4....sheesh. Id like to believe they changed it for the better? I think PD no matter what takes realism as no.1 priority so maybe the previous handling wasnt as good. I mean i remember god forbid you press throttle on the checkered line, say goodbye to your back end. In reality you see many cars go regularry over the red n white strip.
Well at the very least gt4 had b spec mode so you didn't have to do the endurance yourself. A spec points were useless as you couldn't do anything with them.

Seriously... what do you think on-line racing will be like if you take ABS and TC away?

A complete crash fast with even more whining threads

You said it man.

I never understand why some people complain of physics changes. I have no problem jumping from PC2 to AC to GTS and never had a problem driving any GT games. If you do the right things on track, physics shouldn't be a deal breaker.

in an actual race car, you can only turn your head so much. your helmet is strapped to the neck brace, PLUS you have the bolsters of the seats that protrude so far out that you can't see anyway. speaking of helmets, those are another factor that limit your vision. Whenever I need to look around in GTS using group cars, I use the right stick (I know, im saving for a G29 lol) to look around and it's very limited (as it should be) but in a normal car, it works really well.

Yes, I've also seen shift lights, there are many different styles, some cars in game will flash the dash. We won't talk about the ones that come with those giant tach gauges people mount on their dash haha. as for split times being updated the way it does in game, I don't think I've seen that. the real time updates that tell your time distance from the car ahead/behind? I've seen lap times but that's about it.

sorry if this is getting off topic, apologies OP.

Very good points on the neck restrant and halos limiting head movement.

Traqmate is the one I'm familiar with but I know AIM and the other telemetry systems provide the split times as well. Traqmate has the green/red bar in this view showing the lap -0.05 seconds faster. They won't show you how far you are from the car in front of you. AFAIK transponder systems work at start/finish it's not like timing and scoring can tell how far around the track you are.
