2 weeks ago I was hovering around 600 IR points, after the last build it crashed 3 times in 2 days costing me over 300 IR points. In the Grand AM series I went from division 7 to division 8 and things were not looking good for me.

Then week 13, I participated in a few Spec Racer Ford races, then a few MX-5 races then the start of a new Grand AM series and low and behold I am now in division 6 with a IR rating over 1200.

I was going down, down, down really fast. I knew if I didn't change my driving style I would be in big trouble.

Do you guys have similar stories of gaining a lot of points in a week or so?

I too have been demoted to lower divisions.
Got a bunch of my IRating back during Week 13.
Only to lose 100 racing the MX @ Daytona to drivers with lower ratings.
Love the Grand Touring Series, but it gets me in more trouble than it might be worth.

No that's not true Vince. There are some very good racers with low IR. I seen one guy in division 8 that had over 300 wins. True there are some terrible drivers but it is easy to get out of there. My first race in the new season in the Grand AM last night I got a 4th place finish in the 80 minute Daytona and I only had 3 incidents.

It was a very clean race and only 1 car crashed on lap 1. Hopefully I can continue getting high IR so I can move up in divisions, my goal is to get to division 4.

Yeah I thought about that after I posted. My thinking was more towards the multi split races. Lowest split + lower iRating = more knuckle heads.

These are probably the guys that intentionally tank their IR so that they can race against weaker drivers. If your true level is 2000+ and you tank yourself down to ~500 it's hardly an achievement to rack up wins.

yes! Had a bad experience in the end of 2012 season 1. I kept crashing out and flaying badly on the grid. I was demoted in license and division and bottomed out around 500iR. It was a wakeup call to drive better on the track. The good news, that we can attest to, is that driving cleanly around pilots with terrible iRating makes it too easy for us to finish well in races and bump our own iR! LOL

Yes there are plenty people that do this, Like I said earlier I seen one guy with over 300 wins and he held a "C" license, he handily beat most "A" license drivers.

Most of my loss of IR points were through a problematic graphics card that kept freezing, just enough that 2 tires would go off the track. I got hit a lot against rookies and then the new build quit working 3 times for a huge loss. Really just bad luck. As well I knew I had to avoid certain situations on the track. Knowing when to challenge and when to back off really help me.

The amount of wins you have and the pace you have has nothing to do with your license class. Anyone can get to 'A' class license as long as you have the content and keep your INC's low

Yes I am well aware of that, this person kept his license low "C" for a reason. He could easily have been an "A" 4.99 but it looks better when a C license beats an A license, at least in his eyes. I believe the proper term is Sandbagger.

Maybe he isn't sandbagging, he's just not interested in any B+ series? Just like me, I'm B class now but I don't really want to fulfill my MPR as no B class series interests me at the moment. I'm not going to buy content just to give me a blue license.
The sandbagging the guys were talking about was with iR, to win the lower division seasons easier I think.

Yes I agree, although sometimes license doesn't matter either. If a persons IR goes down drastically chances are they might drop a license level as well. I do understand your situation too but the person I was referring to actually races in two series, well at least he did last season.

If iRacing doesn't care about people who do it this way then I suppose it's alright.

I still think the iR works quite well though. Even though due to being consistent im in div 3 and I don't think I belong there! Can't qualify anywhere near most of them!
