The winner of last night's Giants at Steelers game goes to... the Pittsburgh Steelers! The Steel City boys won 26-18 over the New York Giants.
Let us welcome Week 9 of the National Football League. To get you set for what Week 9 has to offer, let me talk about some of the many matches coming up...
* Happy Halloween! Tricks and treats are abound when the New York Jets host the Houston Texans for Thursday Night Football in the shadow of New York City. Things didn't go so well for the Texans the last time they visited MetLife Stadium. How will this one go when the Texans get ready for a stretch of three straight Prime Time games? It is my Texans against Blitz24 and kjb's Jets.
* The Dallas Cowboys go out to the ATL to play against them Dirty Birds. The Atlanta Falcons hope to further compound and confound the Cowboys' 2024 season.
* Omnis' Miami Dolphins will go well north to take on the Buffalo Bills in Orchard Park, New York in an AFC East showdown.
* The Las Vegas Raiders are going all in and all out when they head to the Midwest to entertain Dolph Drago's Cincinnati Bengals.
* The "Maryland Miracle" is still blowing peoples' minds when the Washington Commanders stunned the Chicago Bears last week. Now, the balling Commanders will head up to East Rutherford, NJ to take on Jump_Ace's New York Giants in an NFC East tilt.
* The Carolina Panthers think dey gon' beat dem' Saints. Well, time to see if they will once the New Orleans Saints come to Charlotte for an NFC South showdown.
* The Denver Broncos will venture out to Baltimore to take on those ravenous Baltimore Ravens.
* The Chicago Bears hated to lose on the "Maryland Miracle." It's on to the next one for the boys from Chi-Town, as they will head out west now to meet the Arizona Cardinals.
* I don't know if you know this, but the NFC North has been pretty sublime this season. Enjoying the view from up top on the NFC North standings, Joey D's Detroit Lions will hit the Frozen Tundra to take on the Green Bay Packers. Rival states clash as the Lions try to remain hot.
* Sunday Night Football this week is an all-Midwestern affair. After the Colts came up short trying to take down the Texans in Houston, the Colts now must deal with the Minnesota Vikings in Minneapolis.
* Monday Night Football will come to you from Arrowhead Pond as the Kansas City Chiefs try to stay undefeated. Will the Tampa Bay Buccaneers be the ones to finally best the 2024 Kansas City Chiefs?
** BYE WEEK: Pittsburgh, San Francisco
So there you have it. These are some of the many games coming up this week.
Now for a little commentary.
The Houston Texans won 23-20 against the Indianapolis Colts in Houston yesterday. The media outlets, though, have been chewing out the Colts' QB, Anthony Richardson. He claimed to be overly tired as the Texans' defense was stifling the Colts. You want your teams to be beasts on defense, but I think I remember either Donovan McNabb or Terrell Owens still making plays while not at 100% or tired... in the Super Bowl no less! Joe Flacco had to back up for Anthony Richardson during the IND at HOU game. Texans got to keep up the defensive pressure. They also need a little better offensive execution. Otherwise, me happy boy about my Texans now at 6-2 on the 2024 NFL season.
The real story here, though, is that Indianapolis Colts fans are understandably upset that Anthony Richardson walked out on his team in a key situation. I was watching videos on YouTube with people dumping on A. Richardson- First Take, Get Up, The Richard Sherman Podcast, Locked on Colts, The Rich Eisen Show, I think also Up and Adams... all hating on Anthony Richardson for briefly quitting on his team. On the other hand, you do have to appreciate him being honest about leaving for a breather with the infamous helmet tapping. Since he "tapped out," Anthony Richardson made himself look very bad with this performance. Worse than that was him going 2 for 15 on pass attempts in the first half, and I think he ultimately went 10 for 32 passing in the IND at HOU game. The Texans mostly made him look like an OVR well south of 50 (to use sports gaming speak).
Get ready for Week 9! Enjoy this week's games!
