Nürburgring Night Racing Shown Off in GT Sport Gamescom Teaser

There's only two things in that list that point towards Pcars specifically, and that's seasons and rallycross. All the rest of it are aspects of current, and past GT games.

Come on:

- DYNAMIC time of day for, let's say, an authentic Le Mans 24 hour race, or to liven up a custom race, causing racers to alter driving styles or strategies?

Yep, that's in PC2.

- Multi-class championships?

Yep, that's in PC2.

- Live DYNAMIC changeable weather, affecting circuit and car behaviour?

Yep, that's in PC2.

- Changing seasons?

Yep, that's in PC2.

- A larger circuit roster?

Yep, that's in PC2.

- A proper progressive in-depth career mode?

Yep, that's in PC2.

- Rallycross?

Yep, that's in PC2.

- Snow?

Yep, that's in PC2.

- Better eSports features? (GTS is appalling online. The Sportsmanship & Driver rating in the beta was broken and full of ramming idiots)

Remains to be seen.

- Superior audio for car engine, transmission and cockpit sounds?

Yep, that's in PC2.

- Better AI for closer more aggressive and involved racing?

Yep, that's in PC2.

- More in game options and customisability?

Yep, that's in PC2.

Because he probably liked the direction GT was at at some point.

Given the list above and the fact that this thread is about a video showing the visuals of night racing in GT Sport it's more likely that he likes the direction of Project Cars 2, but is jealous about the visuals of Gran Turismo Sport and feels a need to bash it.

I ask that you please re-read what I wrote

A lot of these things were in the past game, and removed. There are vastly more aspects of that list that used to be GT prior as well as current GT, than are specifically Pcars2.

- DYNAMIC time of day for, let's say, an authentic Le Mans 24 hour race, or to liven up a custom race, causing racers to alter driving styles or strategies?

Yep, that's in PC2.
Yep, that was also GT-Prior.

- Multi-class championships?

Yep, that's in PC2.
Isn't that supposed to be a part of GT as well? I mean, they have showed multiple classes of vehicles shown. That is yet to be seen, but read below

GTP: Can you confirm there will be multi-class racing in GT Sport?
KY: It is something that is technically possible that we can do, but it’s something that we will be testing in the pre-season tests for the FIA Gran Turismo Championships after release.

- Live DYNAMIC changeable weather, affecting circuit and car behaviour?

Yep, that's in PC2.
This one I missed. Sorry for that.

- Changing seasons?

Yep, that's in PC2.
I am aware, I've noted that specifically in the post you replied to.

- A larger circuit roster?

Yep, that's in PC2.
Any game has a larger circuit roster, you're just associating it with Pcars2 to try to illustrate your point. GT-Prior had a larger car list as well.

- A proper progressive in-depth career mode?

Yep, that's in PC2.
Pcars1 was that, but I've yet to see anything outlining Pcars2. However, I doubt they'd scrap that so I'm willing to bet it's there. I've gotten in many discussions here where the people think that the career mode is more than in-depth and progressive. It would seem more people think it is, rather than isn't at this point. I don't agree with the sentiment, but there is a consensus on the opposite of what I think.

- Rallycross?

Yep, that's in PC2.
I'm aware, I've noted that in the post you replied to.

- Snow?

Yep, that's in PC2.
There's snow tires specifically in the GTS beta, it would seem odd to include them without actually including anything to use them on. It was also in GT-prior.

- Superior audio for car engine, transmission and cockpit sounds?

Yep, that's in PC2.

- Better AI for closer more aggressive and involved racing?

Yep, that's in PC2.

The car audio is an aspect of the game that I'm sure everyone was expecting to be vastly superior because of the sole fact of the game now being on the PS4, it sounds more like an expectation to me. All the last 3 bullet points in this quote flow along the same thought process in my opinion. Customization being a big hit for some, especially me.

Like I said, this sounds more like a list of things you'd expect to be there/improved from what was originally in the games prior to this, as well as a current expectation using the current offerings from the competition. Like I said, the vast majority of it are things not specifically tied in with Pcars I feel, but maybe too much aggression in his tone. On top of all this, and how he views the game, he's still even buying it. Thats a big thing to take note of, because if he was just bashing for the sake of bashing, why would he even purchase it? How are you going to be jealous of something you yourself are buying? That doesn't make much sense. Sounds like a fan that felt wronged to many times in the past, and expected more.

I don't agree with the overall tone and some points of his message(especially about photomode. It's not pointless!) but there are some aspects of his posts that can make it seem he's aiming at what GT used to be and how we projected it future, rather than outright saying "Pcars does it!"

Better graphics were expected for next gen PS and GT. But the cockpit being illuminated by the car behind?... that just blows me away. It reminded me of all the night races I ran in previous GT's of what I was naturally expecting. Wish granted thankfully. Now I could only signal my intentions to the fast cats behind me. And maybe us my hazards after crushing the front end ;)

GTSport's evolution is very interesting. Unlike a typical Ubisoft game where you start with prerendered footage -- we started the pre release footage with atrocious footage (visually at the very least) and it has been all uphill from here. A reverse Ubi if I've ever seen one.

Nice lighting from PD shown in this night replay on the ring in GTS...

In This gen,one of the best night lighting i have seen is from Dirt Rally..

The other game i liked the lighting is driveclub

Now let's hope that PD bring back dynamic day-night cycle... Not Only fixed hours like the said

Sure, it could just be an amazing coincidence that his list happens to be a perfect description of PC2. And if it is then he should really take my advice and go check out that game, since it has everything he is asking for.

You made a bit of off topic with your debate PC2 features .. no 💡

Dirt has an excelente light, which professes the shadows of all objects but because there is only one car in action ..

Driveclub is excelent too but turns 30 fps without very high physics ..

GT sport is doing well to race 60 fps with several cars

in GT6 a car behind you did illuminate your interior as well.

The interior illumination is interlaced did you notice it guys? I hate that effect and we have it since GT2...

Man that is so true, and you can also see how it doesn't work as a technique. With game journos, you need to super impress them at first glance, or they're not interested. Witness Martin Robinson over at EG with his appraisal of GTS.

The Ubi technique is wilfully misleading but generates a lot of hype which turns into sales. The inevitable disappointment doesn't matter once they've taken the cash.

GT should be applauded for their marketing naivete ;)

Although showing everything on a Pro when, even now, 80% of PS4's sold are the standard version doesn't strike me as that naive. :sly:

Why cant people just play the game they like? Dont get these discusions over and over again. You think that PC2 is better go play that, like GT more play that like them both? Play them both...... endless discussion.
I'm going to play the games I like, and I'm going to discuss them. Why can't people just let people talk if they want to? There's endless amounts of that on this forum already with positive discussion, yet when something starts getting serious, its not allowed?

A new GT thread a new Pcars 2 discussion:rolleyes:
Amazing :gtplanet:
sorry but this starts to get annoying @Jordan
I don't understand how people will talk about how it's going off topic, but you yourself did nothing to bring it back on topic.

So guys we all agree this is a freaking impressive footage. The question now is how is the ffb, tyre model or the handling physics as a whole? I had the closed beta and i was not that impressed. Got a T300rs here

So a thread about nighttime racing in GTS shouldn't be shouldn't be shown against the other incoming games nighttime racing?

As far as I'm concerned comparisons between the relative strengths of the games is entirely justified.

It looks good, but I would not go so far as to call it impressive. The Audi in the replay has yellow headlights, yet the lights on track in the cockpit view shots are not yellow tinted? Also the lights are much too weak for full headlights plus fog lights of a GT3 race car. The display not lighting up the interior, not even having bloom is also rather disappointing, several other games have already had that for a while. In general, the outside replay shots look great, the cockpit view shots much less so. Which doesnt bode that well for actual gameplay I reckon, since that normally looks less stellar than replays, unless I m mistaken.

Well, that is a bit sneaky, but they do make it clear it's Pro. I'm not sure other devs do the same. Also, Sony did put those platforms out there.

But this isn't too much related to @sems4arsenal 's point or my reply anyhow. Seems you just saw the word 'marketing'.

Sure, it looks impressive, but this is one of the few things GT has going for it compared to other games on the market. And considering the lack of content in comparison to the competition, i'm not sure a snazzy lighting engine is going to sway me to drop nearly $100 Canadian on a copy of GT Sport.
