Other Marcos. Go back to the roots with a spiritual successor to the mini marcos, same style but a modern chassis and construction powered by a sub 1l engine with circa 85bhp. All the focus being on cheap to run fun. Later a turbo model with 125+bhp for track day fun.

Carrozzeria Watanabe. :D

Hmm, I could have sworn I clicked Pontiac but the poll says I chose Mercury.

Either one is would be nice to have back though.

The other half of me wants to say Rover, the other wants to say Saab.

Triumph would be nice too, but it's nowhere near the other two mentioned.

Although not completely defunct (i believe BMW owns the brand), i'd like to see the return of Triumph motor cars.

It would be nice if they did a small roadster, maybe similar in shape to the old TR6 or Spitfire, and give it a bike engine/ bike tech.

Here's a quick rough sketch i did, of the kind of shape i'd like to see:

[EDIT]

How it would look with the roof up:

Indeed BMW do...

.. I went off to find this as I thought it was a BMW concept for Triumph, but it was a concept for a new Austin Healey instead.

Yep, i remember the Healey Warwick concept. 👍 It's a shame BMW didn't go ahead with it.

They did, it was called the Z4 ;)

BMW did want to make an new Austin Healey but there were two problems. Firstly they sold the Austin name, along with a bunch of others, to MG-Rover when they sold off the Rover Group. Secondly they don't own the Healey name and Healey were not interested in dealing with them.

Oh right, i didn't know that. Thanks for the info. 👍

Maybe the Healey owners (Healey family i presume), will allow Chinese owned MG to make a reborn version.

If they wouldn't let BMW put a 343hp thoroughbred naturally aspirated inline 6 into something with the Healey name on it, I doubt they'll let Wong-Dong Heavy Industry Corp. (Car Division) cash in on it.

That being said, i still hope Healey will do something with MG.

Just to let everyone know, to keep the poll organized, small companies like Jowett and Cisitalia are not being added to the poll. Only bigger companies, like Pontiac or Rover.

Went for AMC, too, like Dagger says I'd be interested to see what they come up with today. Sure, lots of rubbish cars in their old catalog, but a lot of inventiveness. They always stood out as the most unique brand in their day, not following the big three, and often leading.

Unless the "Modern Gentleman" improves massively in the next few years, I can't see that happening.

To be honest, I wouldn't even want them to do a sportscar before they get their other cars to the modern standards, as it'd be stupid to make a roadster that, by the current line up, won't even come close to the MX-5.
