Name your future rally car setup

This was my GT4 rally car. Subaru Impreza WRX STi Ver8. 500hp, 2.8sec to 100kph. 200kph top speed.

This is the tarmac setup. I had it much higher for gravel.

I will build it again in GT5 even if it is standard, which im 99% sure it will be.

It might be Premium the newest and the 2006 version is premium. GT4 looks pretty damn good 👍

Thats a 2002 model. This was the newest body shape that GT4 had for the Impreza. The next shape is in GT5P so PD would have built that from scratch.
I'm not worried as the standard cars will have new phyiscs and be more fun to drive than GT4.

I bought 3 of these as they kept loosing HP and the chassis got out of shape. I did hundreds of laps of Cathedral Rocks with this car. So much sideways fun.

No doubt 👍 I did some rally today on the Demo and it felt way better than in GT4 the physics are so good man your definitely going to have a blast!

It will more than likely be a worked 22B.

It was my main car for any type of race in GT3 and GT4, and I've no doubt it will be in GT5 as well.

That's good to hear. Rally was my favorite part of GT games. Just having the ability to use heaps of cars in rally that no other game could provide.

I think I will have much more fun in GT5 with the course maker than the new WRC game. Using a G27 on the demo is a waste. FFB isn't really there at all.

Bring on GT5 rally. I also want to get the new Ford Focus WRC as I'm sure that will be a great car to use.

Lots of really cool ideas guys, I also was thinking s Subaru SVX if its in the game would be a awesome rally car if set up right.

I would use an Rs500 or an escort cossie but chances are these iconic cars won't be in the game this makes me sad:censored:

I think a AWD lambo could be fun:)

Holden Monaro, loud exhaust, softer suspension, and some super short gearing and im set. Wont be the fastest car round, but one of the most fun for sure.

toyota celica st170, mildly tuned engine focusing on head work (lumpy camshafts, valves, ported and polished etc) small up rated turbo and extractors, this should be enough to put out a responsive 300+ hp..1.5 way rear lsd and open diff up front, twin plate clutch, short throw gearbox, soft suspension, soft rear anti-roll bar and stiff front anti-roll bar, seam welded chassis and a rollcage, full weight deduction and that should be about it...:)

That looks like it's for a targa race. By rally, I assume the OP is talking about dirt and mud. I don't know if I'd wanna do that to an Aston :(

I find asphalt rally very, well, strange. It's probably because I don't know about it.

Rally stages ( including WRC ) were never purely on muddy, snowy or dirt roads as tight twisty asphalt section are just as much part of rallying.
Some ( or most ) large rally events include a variety of roads including asphalt sections ( through small villages for example ).
Even some rally tracks in GT4 included both asphalt and dirt sections.
If you think it's just about mud and dirt, maybe you're thinking of rally raids like Dakar and Baja events ( although even in Dakar there were some normal roads they used in the past as well ).
That Aston by the way was prepared by Prodrive ( of Subaru fame ) and was offered by Aston to customers who wanted to enter rallies in the V8 apparantly.
It wouldn't be my first choice either I guess but some go for the odd ones like this BMW M1.:)

I think this thread makes a good point for a future inclusion of a livery editor as only then will it be convincing to turn a normal ( or car which isn't obvious to use in rally or race for that matter ) into a proper rally machine.
Even when that means sacrilege......this one actually was used in Paris-Dakar in the early eighties.

reminds me of cannonball run :dopey: was that used by a real team, or by a rally loving sheikh?

Most cars due to age will have basic "Stage 1" type parts to "simulate" older "Stage 2-3" parts.

Mini Cooper (old school only if included) modded to look as much as possible like the 68 1000 lakes rally Mini.

Hakosuka GTR 71

Datsun 240ZG

Escort MKII (if included).

If they dont include the Audi Group B cars, ill mod the 82 Quattro to be as close to Michele Moutons A2 as possible. Also her old Alpine.

What a gorgeous woman, with style too.

Mostly re-creations of classic cars as you can see, maybe also a RUF BTR posing as 911 to round off the group B days.

Also a few FF cars, Fiat Punto Abarth, Golf GTi 1.

A Mitsi Lancer Evo 6, 7, or 8.. haven't quite decided yet but truth be told I'll probably build rally weapons out of all 3.

MKII Astra if possible :dopey:

^This is a Opel Kadett (last generation, before being replace by the Mk.I Astra)

Mercedes E190 2.3 16v; the rally car that never was.

Setup? Tires, cage, and an exhaust that'll shoot flames. If I ever come across a cheap one IRL, I'll Rally-cross it like a madman. Been looking, passively, for years.

I love that idea! one of my fav cars in GT4. I cant wait to try out new Physics in GT5.

By the way was it possible to buy dirt tires for this car? It will be a awesome rally car!

If I recall correctly, the E190 2.3 16v was not in GT4. What we had then was the E190 2.5 EvoII (road going version of the DTM car).

"a proper rally machine"
So stickers make the car proper? I think you've been conditioned to think that, but i doesnt have to be that way nor has it always been that way.

If you look back in the pages of racing history, cars used to be painted a solid color that represented their homeland (brittish racing green, red ferraris ect.). Liverys are nothing more than adverts which pay the bills.

I also hope that the restictions on buying snow and dirt tires for some cars like in gt4 are removed. If a certain car sucks in the snow let me find out, dont lock me out from even trying it.

Ofcourse proper wasn't intended for the mechanical parts, and associated physics or the car itself, and the time when all nations had their own racing colour and sponsors weren't using race/rallycars as advertising has long gone and if that means being 'conditioned' to think a rally car needs a livery to make it seem more realistic then perhaps I have to say yes ( despite being able to think for myself and knowing full well what they are intended for ).
Most racing cars and rally cars have had liveries ( and it's a no-brainer to say they're only there for advertising, I mean why else? ) for the last, what?, 40 years or so, and I haven't recently witnessed a professional rally car without ads all over.

And I wasn't around first time to witness Grand Prix cars with either British Racing Green, Italian red, German white, French blue or Belgium yellow, etc. so any car which isn't a classic is more convincing to me with a livery if it's only going to be used ( and build ) as a rally car in the game.
Is it essential? Ofcourse not but it would add to the immersion factor of the game to be able to create a purposeful and fully kitted out rally car whereby adding a visual element like a livery is only the finishing touch.

All the ads on tracks and the liveries already included on some cars in the game were originally conceived as advertising only, they were added into the game to be perceived as more realistic.
Are people therefore conditioned into perceiving it as more realistic or accurate?

Sorry, My intention isn't to oppose a livery editor, I guess I just have an immense hatred towards ads.

My point being that liverys/ads are there to finance a race team, but we dont need money to play GT5, so why put ads on it.

I guess I'm just not that interested in any particular historic rally car enough to want to recreate them. I'd rather have a clean simple look.

Fair enough, although a livery ( or collection of ads ) would mainly serve as "wallpaper" without a meaning attached to it in my opinion or maybe people can imagine being sponsored for all I care, my main point was it would add a sense of realism to some ( me included ) or just being fun creating a livery ( I wouldn't use a livery editor to replicate existing ones myself, I'll happily leave that to PD ).
In general ( meaning road cars ) I share your preference for a clean simple look, but when I fully tune a car into a race or rally car I would like to "put some stickers" onto them to make clear they are in fact race or rally cars and not a tuned version with a hideous rear spoiler, etc.
And besides a livery can be subtle and although there are quite a few exceptions I do like, in general who does like ads? ;)

Getting back on-topic, I think the Clio V6 may actually be a good starting point for a rally car or how about the VW Sambabus?:dopey:
