I have a really good setup for Motegi for NO tire wear. I have run a 28.741 with no draft with it. I tried it in tire wear races and i can run a lap between 29.1 and 29.2 however it only lasted for about 5-6 laps.

Care to share you setup kartracer? It would be nice to get under 29 seconds.

Tranny
First set top speed to 242. 1st through 3rd all the way o
down,4th all the way up. Set top speed to 215.
Rap, I'm a little confused with this tranny. Is this in mph? I follow the order on your tranny setup but when I get to the last step there is no 215mph top speed. There is a 217mph top speed is this what you meant?

I have been omitting the last step and the car seems to run fine though.
 
Sorry, I never noticed how confusing that looked. Set top speed to 242 (or something close) then adjust 1st-3rd gears all the way to the right. Adjust 4th all the way left. The play with the final gear until top speed is 218ish
 
Thanks for your reply. Do you have your left and rights mixed up? Let me take a stab at this as the last part of your last post makes sense.

Reset transmission to default.
Set top speed to 242
Set 1st through 3rd gears all the way to the left
Set 4th gear to the right
Now set final until the top speed in the upper right corner is about 218mph

Is that correct or do I have my left and rights confused lol? I'm still getting the hang of this. In my mind when I go left on a transmission slider I go lower with the numbers and the lower the numbers the taller the gear. If I go right I go higher with the number and shorter with the gears. Is that correct?

Yep it's correct, left is smaller right is larger good luck!
 
I think that's fairly close. I've only been playing around at motegi but I aim for about 165mph in turns 3 & 4. Try one of the setups on page one and practice practice practice.
 
Try this setup it is for my Honda Weider hsv-010 I tried it briefly on a Nascar and it seemed to work.This car turns mid 29's with the new Weider and is faster than a Nascar.

Aero F 39 R 59 (Max it out not sure how far it goes)
Tranny reset to default
Move final gear right to 5500
Move top speed left to 124 MPH
Set final to 3.054
Set 6th gear to 1.274
Should give you at top speed in upper right corner of 215 MPH

LSD 55/58/30

RH F 10 R 5
SR F 20 R 16.3
EXT F 7 R 4
COM F 5 R 2
ARB F 3 R 6
CAM F 0.3 R 1.3
TOE F -0.28 R-0.28

Whats up guys! I've been racing on GT5 for a while now and race in a league mainly on circuits and race the RUF Porsche and Super GT's. I've recently got into NASCAR and I'm looking for some advice as we are running at Motegi speedway on Monday 8th Oct in our league as a special event and hope I've come to the right place to get some advice. I'm a total novice at NASCAR so excuse the ignorant questions.

I've had a read through most of this thread and have picked some very useful tips up particularly about setting your car up online in your own lobby which I am doing now!

I'm running the following setup and am mainly getting 30.1's with the occasional 29.9 on new softs with tyre wear on and grip set to real.

This was from one of the suggestions on here but I'm a second off the time the member got with this set-up so it must be my driving! The car feels really good and is easy to drive. I'm taking turn 1 and 2 flat out holding a minimum speed of 180mph. Turns 3 and 4 are much harder to get right so at the last marker board ?100m I'm getting off the gas (not braking) coasting into the corner then holding 165mph and accelerating out of the bend after the apex. AM I loosing too much speed in turns 3 and 4? I can't see how to get into the low 29.0's.

Is it my technique or is there more can be done with the set-up?

Also the race on Monday is 40 laps and with the new patch the softs are lasting 15 laps or so before I'm loosing too much performance so it will be a compromise between outright speed over a single lap and tyre wear that wins the day and the person who can do this with the least stops! What sort of strategy would people reccomend? Is it worth gunning it on softs and risk 2-3 stops or loose some speed and go for a one stop on mediums or hards?

Any advice is much appreciated guys

I run that suspension setup but I use rap129's transmission. I have only ran solo so it may need tweaked a bit for running in the draft.

Reset transmission to default.
