NASCAR Battle of the Bobs - Season Over!

You know, I really want to make a more visual entry list, so I'm going to FR you all, and then go online and take screenshots of your drivers. Like Graphite did.

ok.. sign me up... I need to check which account an driver I want though and will let you know later today if that's ok?

Certainly, sharky! Your name will be down on the list shortly.

EDIT: You've been successfully entered! I can't be on the PS3 until Friday as of now, folks, but FR me before then, all of you, if I haven't already to you.

You know, I'm not the best at technology, therefore I don't know how to take a "screen grab". Could someone provide such things? It would be highly appreciated! Also, I can't see why we need a Google spreadsheet. I don't think I will take that offer...

Goes on google for "section of screen grab" app for XP = try = http://getgreenshot.org/

Before Windows Vista, if you wanted a screen shot you had to use the less than intuitive method of pressing the print screen key and pasting the screen shot into a graphics program to add markup and save it. With Windows Vista and later, Microsoft has included a utility called the Snipping Tool to make capturing screen shots easier. Of course, there are many free screen capture tools for all versions of Windows if you've not upgraded to Windows Vista or Windows 7.

Mac and Linux both have screen grab built in to OS.

Google spreed sheets for results allow all users to see there past results with out having to wait for you to post them again. This stops the "but I came second twice" post "how can I behind X when hes never got higher than 4th". So far google has not deleted any spread sheets but Pictures of the results did get deleted from shems flicker account some how.

Misunderstanding about the screen grab. I know how to do it... my term is "screen shot", lol. ;) Whatever works. Anyhow, I meant like a capture card to capture the TV image to save race replays to YouTube and stuff. I am used to Google spreadsheets being able to be edited by all... I'm sure there's a way to limit that, correct? I can save the screenshots, or screengrabs, if you please, to my personal computer or, even better, this forum. I'll think about it, and I appreciate your time to help this series!

Also, Graphite, do you know any other people who can help us fill out this entry list before Friday. With the good progress its making, I assume we WILL get 16 by Friday, but still, it would be good to get them sooner rather than later. Any people you know who'd be into it?

When you host a remote race there is a button called save replay before race.
Tick it.
Replay version 1
Once the Remote race completes go into the replay section and hit Export on replay.
This save the replay file/folder to PS3 HDD, now plug USB device in to USB port, transfer replay folder to USB then to PC, ZIP folder, Upload to Megaload.com folder then we reverse the process to watch on PS3 in GT
5.

Replay version 2
Requires capture card/ DVD-Recorder / Expensive HD-PVR and High powered PC.
Unless you mean you have one built in already in which case pass on PC software.
Example file done quickly with edits as example in SD on DVD-R.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10024475/video/stress.mp4

Race stills...
Require the same tech as real time video but instead you capture one single frame.

PD give you you access to a lap buy lap chart on PC but messed it up buy adding 30 laps to Nascar as well as a final result table on PC web browser per race.

Side topic
Nope Most friends with GT5 still are widget runners and the others have started kicking people of friends list for BF3.

Alright then, you can sign me up too. I'd like to enter a little more competitive driver this time, but these are all on my alt and are raced all the time, so it might have to be N.Juarez again, at least I know he isn't raced by anyone using the widget. Guess I'll just have to hope he'll do a little better this time. But give me another day or two, I might train up one or two of my level 20+ drivers to 40 and see whether they'll end up with better stats. If not, N.Juarez it is.

Great! Also, Graphite, can you be a little more specific so I know what to do when I try it when we have our first race? I would appreciate it.

Actualy You can forget about Replay version 1 Save game data will only be viewable by 1/2 of the racers.
Because saved replay Data can't jump game regions, the replay data contains region locking code as used in the Save game function.
1/2 of the entries are EU region and your from US and shem is on Asia/HK region. Thats not going to work.

You are going to have to record replays via capture card and then edit with software like Sony Vagus if you want them on youtube. May be a highlight real at half way in the season instead.

Gran-turismo.com Remote Race Web Site usage for presentation during season.
Using shem as example again. As you have not logged in since the FR.

(Actualy hit a snag again with shem profile so had to go back to my profile.)
snapshot25-1.png

During a race you can see the chart screen update. when the race is over you grab a pic and then host it on a site, an external site like Image shack/photobucket does not limit the file size/dimensions like they do here.
(Please notice that they have fixed the 30 lap display now.)
snapshot26-1.png

When the race is complete a new table is available to be snapped and hosted.
Photobucket/imageshack even include the "direct image Url" copy option with BB code added for you.
you then post both images in this forum using that BB code.
(no need to copy the results each time. just the pic.)
Both displays can be posted per race. But if you have internet errors only the second image can be used as the first is only during live stats.

(Any body in the race can see these the same way even if your PS3 is off.)

Should have mentioned that the PSN ID for the driver I'll be entering is doctorrg, not drbrg. The drivers in drbrg I can't use, as they're busy racing elsewhere most of the time. :indiff:

I may be able to help with one more entry, although he's not registered with GT Planet. Like me, he's a long time lurker on these forums (I only registered myself about a week ago), so if it is a requirement, I may be able to twist his arm to finally register.

Thanks, Graphite. Also, Boogie, I would be very pleased if you could persuade this person to join. I don't really understand why this would need persuading. Pardon my ignorance, but really, there's no downside to Remote Racing. You get rewards only, and it never takes a toll on you. Plus, I'm not planning to hog their drivers by running a million races in the championship. Just tell him that.

there you go shem....
[P.Adam]
Speed - 169
mental - 172
Physical - 178
Character - 1 Cool

Cheers Graphite.

I'm really glad I can enjoy this one without having to do all the work.

I'm still thinking of the next Lvl 0 cup.

I'll throw in a few prizes for the winner. That might make it more appealing to people who are considering joining.

Sorry if it's been mentioned before but I haven't noticed how many races there are in this competition and on what time scale it'll be run. Any ideas?

I agree with all your reasons for the positive benefits of joining this series, my only doubt is whether he'll join if it's compulsory to be a GT Planet registered member.

Like I said in my previous post, he's been a long time lurker on these forums, so if you tell me that it is mandatory to be a registered GT Planet member in order to be eligible to participate, I'll tell him that, which will hopefully give him the incentive to register and sign up for this.

If you're reading this Stig, come on register and sign up!!! Don't worry everyone else, he's not the REAL Stig!!!

You and shem brought up some great points. To answer your questions

1. Is it mandatory to be a GTPlanet user to register in this series?
Absolutely not.

2. What time will we be running these races? What time scale?
Probably every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. Twice a day. I am gone from my PS3 every other week, because since I'm still a kid and my parents are divorced I have to houses. One doesn't have a PS3, so...

3. Doctorrg, I will have your other PSN ID down in a moment.

4. Boogie's lurker, come join the play!

My Details... for now... :sly:

GTP ID: sharky969
PSN ID: sharky968
Bob of Choice: N. Juarez
Bob Level: 40
Country: Canada

WAIT! Hold up...

Doctorrg is the one with N. Juarez. I made a mistake and P.M.'d you that your driver was N. Juarez. And it's not, unless we have two N. Juarez's on our hands, lol. Doctor is the one with Juarez... sorry about the confusing PM. Are you sure yours is N. Juarez, as well?

ok do this then for now:

GTP ID: sharky969
PSN ID: sharky969
Bob of Choice: D. Hancock
Bob Level: 40
Country: Canada

May as well give this a go.

PSN: GTRacerUK

Sorry not sure what Bob I'm going to use yet...

But R Mancini is most likely after last weekend though!

PRIZES: 1ST PLACE - 3 Cars of up to 1,000,000 CR; 10 DLC paint items of choice; Stig Outfit
2ND PLACE - 2 cars of up to 1,000,000 CR; 5 DLC paint items of choice; 4 2010 NASCAR outfits
3RD PLACE - 1 Car of up to 1,000,000 CR; 1 DLC paint item of choice; 5 Skully helmets

How are you planning on giving out these prizes, seeing that DLC paints, the Stig Outfit and the NASCAR outfits (excluding Jeff Gordon) cannot be gifted?

Maybe make it premium cars in a DLC color with customized rims in a DLC color?

 Same members for all the same championships.

Can't say I'm surprised. So many people underestimate B-Specing.

Next ones up after this, Lvl 0 drivers. Still working on the details. I'm looking forward to how this one pans out. ;)

Nice! Overload of entries, here! Lol.

I've got a few things to say...

1: Can I sign up early for your level 0 series, shem? :)
2: Doctorrg... Dang it! I didn't know that. OK, I'll rethink this, here. I say stick with 3, 2, or 1 (depending on your result) cars up to 1,000,000 CR. Maybe the DLC painted cars will work. Like a gold car of your choice for 1st, a silver car for second, an emerald car for third? Hmmmm... I hate to use those paints, though, lol!
3. Matty... you are correct in that assumption! ;) But if PD doesn't plan to update the Seasonal Event quite soon, anything can happen at a superspeedway. I wouldn't be surprised if my bob won once!

Also what is R. Mancini's level? I'm not going to be strict about entry policy because I still need three more entries, but you will be sent to the bottom of the list, and, if reserve lists come up, out of the list and into the reserves completely, where you will continue to drop!

So since this thread is getting a lot more popular by the day, I suggest you make an entry soon! Just sayin... :)

I love all this enthusiasm, guys! :) :)
