You guys don't think I'm an idiot right?
...for trying to make the car rust intentionally!
Well... Your wife may have a point. :P

It'll be different though!

I can see what you are trying to achieve, stylised rusting. I'm presuming you are going to let the exposed areas rust, but how are you going to stop it eating it's way through the panels? Or is that not of concern in the long run > the VW's disposable.

You've also had the orange paint out and changed the wheels I see. ;)

Yeah I don't care about the rust, changeable parts if I have it that long, and yeap wheels need color! :-)

The only hope !
Let's hope it helps Miki. Hopefully we'll be able to see each other on Sunday.
Reméljük, ez segít Miki. Remélhetőleg képesek leszünk látni egymást vasárnap.

Important Announcement - Poll added to Page 1 - All Racers Please Vote !!!

Dear Racers - Good morning and happy Sunday to all!

I have been doing a lot of work on an exciting new series, but before the details can be finalised I need to know about your ownership of some of the big value classics in the game. Please make sure you vote as soon as possible indicating which of the cars you have. Don't go out and buy the cars! The only car in the poll which everyone will use is the Ford GT40 Mark 1 road car, but I need to know which of the other cars you have. I expect everyone will have a Jaguar XJ13 as this was a free prize car in a recent seasonal event.

Thanks you for your help!

I think that across my 2 accounts I have nearly all of them, just not all in the same garage.
I'm willing to grind for credits & buy any/all of them anyway so I've held back from filling in the poll. If you'd prefer me to vote, for your stats, I can check my garage(s) & do so.

If there are no unforseen complications then I'll be able to race today. If I've got it right, it looks like it will be the Big Willow track at Willow Springs for both cars (without the FGT anymore). I'll run some laps in advance of race time to get used to it. I haven't been practicing in these cars since the preliminary testing week.

Don't buy anything yet - the only car that everyone will use is the Ford GT40.

If you could vote on your current account that will be fine.

Look forward to seeing you on track later.

I'd like to own them all anyway. I think that on M_Mallet_Jr I have all except the 250 GTO & the Alfa but that I do have them on St_Bridge44.
I'll vote, as per the current Mallet account when I've checked for definite but within a week or so I will have filled in any gaps. I'm happy to have something to give me a reason to grind. I'll enjoy it. 👍:)

I was recently at 3.5 million, which is the highest number of credits I've ever had in a Gran Turismo game. Now I'm back at 2.9. So it's safe to say I don't have any of them nor do I expect to anytime soon. I think I maybe did get the Jaguar from the seasonal but I deleted it.

The GT40 Mark 1 is an excellent car :)

Also, the GT40 and the Jaguar XJ13 can be painted and you can use a racing number on it as well.
The Ferrari 250 GTO can be painted, but the racing number can not be changed. None of the other cars in the poll can be painted.

Hey guys I've had some surgery on my right eye yesterday so my vision isn't too great, I'll try race since I haven't had a full weekend yet but I don't think I'll battle hard with anyone but get some running

I would recommend to get some rest! These series are not going nowhere and you can make up points next time.

Take care of that eye of yours cause you need it 👍

I do like the Pcars approach where there is no buying of cars and you can drive anything straight from the off. Without any proper career mode to justify it, the credit and grinding system needs an overhaul (or removal) IMO. It's a real turn off off for me. I'd like to try everything but not necessarily "own" them.

Therefore on principal I've never bought a 20 million credit car since I've always thought "Am I going to get my credits worth? Look at all the other cars I could buy and possibly have more fun with for the same credits". Yes I'm a cheapskate. :P

I wont vote straight away, I'll check later, but I might have the "free" Jaguar still. I did have a GT40 Mark 1 but I think I sold it! Since Eran recommends it, I'll get another one. The Chaparral 2D has gone as well, since I didn't care for it.
I keep having a garage clear out of cars I don't use/want. My car count tends to go down!

My new work schedule is allowing me to race with you every Sunday!
Work schedules that allow you to play are the best sort. :)

Something unexpected happened here,
A sudden attack of rust? ;)

Hey guys I've had some surgery on my right eye
You'll probably still beat me with one eye shut. :dopey:

I got a bug in my right eye earlier today, still feels a little itchy but I'll manage, if I can join in time? gonna start the game now in case my wife gets home in time to take the kids!

Sorry for my departure, my broadband connection decided to start dropping out. It did drop out yesterday while I was practising for the race but since it had been stable all morning I thought it had fixed itself.
I thought it was the provider at first but I have (I think) since found the problem to be a failed filter and a dodgy phone causing a noisy line. Seems to be stable again now.
I'll try the PS3 again shortly. Fingers crossed.

Edit: The PS3 is now up and running. Do you want to start the races again? :)

Seems you had some problems anyway! Did you try resetting the track before making a new room Sick? The invisible cars seem to be worse when people are on track and others enter the room. If everyone waits to enter the track it might help - hence the reset, which drops everyone back to the lobby.

Aww Dammit I missed the race today! 🤬 man. I've been so caught up with all this stuff going on, and I forgot to set my damn alarm. I slept in horrendously. (I just woke up) Sorry @Sick Cylinder Last week I wasn't able to make it due to family plans and helping out at the family reunion, but this week was no excuse. My apologies for missing this race without an explanation. I will attempt to make the rest of the races this season.

It was probably just as well that you missed it this week Mannasseh as at one point we had 17 people trying to get in the room at once. I will need to manage the race numbers from now on and use the reserve driver system - I will have a look a look at this during the week.

The connection problems were horrendous today. The reason for the first room recreation was that we had the race quality set to four stars instead of the two which we have been experimenting with and I anticipated problems with disconnections. If I had known that this would have caused Polyphony Digital to suffer a global server meltdown I would have just started the race!

Eventually when we did get started and the races were fantastic - Willow always seems to produce good races. Lex Lathor had suggested three stars with a public room for the best results and using those settings it was perfect with no connection or disconnection problems - unfortunately by then a few people had understandably given up so we were slightly down on numbers.

I will post a race report and the championship tables tomorrow. Thanks for your patience and see you all next week.

PS - don't forget to complete the Poll at the top of this thread - thanks.

Permanent Drivers and Reserve Drivers

Now that we have a full room it is important that people post on this thread if they won't be able to attend so that anyone listed as a Reserve driver knows whether there will be a slot for them on Sunday.

I have listed 15 drivers as Permanent and 4 as reserves, therefore there will be a minimum of 1 spare slot available. Based on experience with previous championships I expect there will almost always be space available for those who wish to attend, but if I have listed you as a Reserve please check the thread before attending. Spaces are allocated on a first come first served basis - so the first reserve to indicate that they want to race on Sunday will get the current space. The second will get the next space etc.

Sunday was the first time that I can remember the meeting being oversubscribed.

Difficult race sessions for me as I wasn't fully fit to race but I had some great races especially with Eran and Pimiki. I was on for 3rd in the final race before binning it in the last corner but I had a lot of fun racing despite finding it very hard to get a clean lap as I was using my Monza setup :yuck: And thanks Harsk for waiting to finish with me!

Also apologies to Mallet for hitting you in the final corner in the first NASCAR race. :banghead:

Here's some photos, I forgot to save the replay from the XNR race so it's from both NASCAR races, thanks and see you guys in Rome!
