Boogity, boogity, boogity! Fox Sports FTW.

I noticed Montoya has the same sunglasses that I do. Oakley's Spike.

I guess the TNT guys were right when track position was more important than tires because Denny Hamlin used that strategy to win today.

Congrats!

Is anybody watching the Pepsi 400 right now? THe coverage is horrible! It feels like I'm watching a giant advertising program. Every 5 seconds a little "mini video" pops up from the bottom line (that takes up a good amount of the screen) advertising something. Then they do the traditional commercials. This got so annoying I'm watching free trial of the Direct TV track pass of Jeff Gordon.

Awesome Finish there. I thought kyle had it for a bit there. Say, Kyle is now part of the second closest finish in NASCAR.

I'd take little pop up ads over commercials anyday, at least they didn't block out the race video wise. I just muted the ads and kept my eye on the race.

Kyle had it across the restart line at the tri oval, but Jamie used the side-draft deal like Harvick in the 500 which got him that little bit of speed over Busch to get the win.

And they're both part of histroy, 2nd closest finish in electronic timing history and I think it was the closest Daytona Int'l Speedway history.

Yeah, he timed it just right.

Yeah, I was stating that like his brother Kurt, Kyle is part of one of the closest finishes in NASCAR. I'm gonna be surprised if despite that performance, he still leaves Hendrick.

To tell the truth if they wanted to do the pop up ads, they could've done somehting similiar to ABC's/ESPN's side by side.

Yeah the could, but if they did, they'd get crap from ESPN saying that TNT stole their idea. Doing it their way keeps everyone (except you) happy.

There's no other option for him, he opens the door and Jr. steps in, there's no turning back now, No way in hell Hendrick would turn away Dale Jr. to take Kyle Busch. Kyle has an amazing future, regardless of where he goes.

yeah , Dale Jr. is going to bring Tons of money and hopefully championships their way,no way would I still try to keep Kyle after signing Lil' E.

lol Yeah we would have ANOTHER lawsuit dealing with NASCAR ( Cingular and Nextel). The thing that actually irritated me the most was that they did the pop ups AND the commercials. If they did something like Side by side, or no commercials, but pop ups inbetween cautions/ long green runs, it wouldn't have bothered me. They just did too much advertising.

You should ask TNT how much it cost to put that race together with out commercials. Then you'll see why they needed the ads.

I know but Pick a way of doing the advertisements, not bombarding us with two styles.

One thing you should understand that this is the 1st time that TNT or NASCAR for that matter has broadcasted a race like this, so I'm sure if they continue the Wide Open Coverage in future Pepsi/Coca-Cola? 400's, they'll work it out.

okay...I see now. I hope it works out, cause that kind of annoys me.

Good race though!

btw it's the Pepsi 400. I saw the question mark and didn't know if you knew the name of the race. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Question here: Did you watch the race in HD I did and the wide open was better than them going to brake ever 5 min. You did notice that they said that they had to have 3{90 sec} for local time per hour.

Pepsi 400 At Daytona (July)

Coca-Cola 600 At Lowes (Concord, NC)

Chris.

The reason why I did that was because Daytona, as well as 10 other tracks lost their deals with Pepsi and signed deals with Coca-Cola, which may mean the future name of the race could be the Coca-Cola 400.

A tragic crash occured Tuesday morning. Take a look at this Yahoo! Sports link: < http://sports.yahoo.com/nascar/news...YcB?slug=ap-smallplanecrash&prov=ap&type=lgns > Smoke (not Tony Stewart) was reported as the plane had to make an emergency landing. Over five people died in this crash.

Sad stuff.

Yeah, the husband of the president of ISC (Lesa France Kennedy) died in that crash.

I'm not sure if any one here has heard this, but I heard on Speed today that Hendrick Motosports has announced that Budweiser will NOT be following Dale Jr. to Hendrick.

In a related note I saw an interview where D. Waltrip was talking about the whole Dale Jr. deal before it happened. He predicted that Jr. would go to Hendrick and that Budweiser would not follow him. When asked by the reporter what his sponser would be, DW simply commented that it would still be a beverage of some kind but instead of red, think blue...

Very interesting that DW was right on two counts so far. The question is what blue canned drink could possibly be Jr's next sponsor? I'm thinking most likely Pepsi, or maybe they might steal Miller Lite (kinda doubt that one), maybe even Busch. Either way should be very interesting.

HMS has said that it will not move any of it's sponsors that are with them in '08, the only drinks there? Pepsi & Gatorade, as far as I know, gatorade is green or yellow.

From,
Chris.

Thanks for the clarification. So I would guess that if he's going to be sponsored by any drink that's blue, it will be Pepsi.

So, what do you guys think of the restructuring at Ginn racing?

No more Busch team, Regan Smith replaces Sterling Marlin starting @ Indy, Aric Almirola to co-drive next year with Mark Martin & a possible merger with DEI. Not to mention that Joe Nemechek could be out of the team if they don't get a sponsor.

I guess I missed something last week, why is there no race this weekend again?

It's a week off, Indy is next week
And of course I don't have anything to do :grumpy:

Busch had a race sat though.

Is anyone watching the race in HD? It doesn't seem as good compared to Fox or TNT. ESPN has great baseball coverage in HD, I don't know why NASCAR looks so bad.

The announcers are so boring, I cannot tell the difference between the two (or three?). I have no clue.

Your comment made me realize that the ESPN announce team (Dr. Jerry Punch, Andy Petree, and Rusty Wallace) have absolutely no emotions whatsoever. It's like they're not putting forth their best effort. I thought that at least Rusty would've had emotion in his voice, but I was wrong. Now the best commentators for emotion are in my opinion the FOX crew (Darrell Waltrip, Larry McRenyolds, and Mike Joy). Finally, *spoiler alert* Tony Stewart won the Brickyard 400. *end spoiler alert*
